I think everyone will love Philippine dried mangoes! There is nothing like our mangoes in all the world. My friends who are in the US always crave for our mangoes and since it is difficult and bulky to bring fresh and ripe mangoes, the next best thing is the dried version.
Enjoy your vacation, kabayan!

Special wrapping for pasalubong? Bayongs would be good. You can get these wholesale in Divisoria. Without the fancy wrappings, these products are easily available in malls like SM and Market! Market!

Hi bea_29!
My parents and parents in-law usually wrapped tinapa (smoked fish) whenever they returned to the USA from a vacation here. I just don't know if this will fit the taste of your office mates.
One thing I loved to give to my friends whenever they took vacation here is hopia by Eng Bee Tin. This is one of the great tasting hopia that I have ever taste and they are good also to the purse(price reasonably). You can also try the home brewed coffee (kape barako) and chocolait (tsokolate) and pair this with a reputable rice cake.
I think I have already spoken a lot and given you many choices to make. Whew, I'm now getting hungry talking about this food.
Have a nice day!

hello bea... my best suggestion is sweet tamarind or champoy. Most of our relatives who comes from the states when they visit here, they would ask mom for the champoy before going back abroad. Mom makes them sweet and a little bit spicy, just a little spicy, there are some you can buy that are really hot, so much chili added.

You could give them Bagoong! hahaha. though I don't think that you're allowed to bring it on the plane. LOL.
Anyway, my best choice for you is definitely dried mangoes. I mean, when a family member of ours is visiting somebody abroad, what they always ask for is bagoong, sinigang mix ( I think this is extremely expensive in other countries ), and dried mangoes.. it's just really unique, and who doesn't eat dried mangoes?! right?

Hi there! There are lots of Filipino delicacies you can bring as "pasalubong" for your colleagues. You can drop by at malls like SM because usually they have a particular corner in their supermarkets that's all native delicacies from different parts of the Philippines. You may ask supermarket personnel for that.

Well we have a lot of things to offer them, from dried fish (tuyo) dried pusit (squid) that is, if they will just like the smell hehehe! Another is shrimp paste (bagoong) , if you don't like that then you can also choose from delicacies we have or snacks like dried mango, uraro, otap, espasol, piaya, pulburon, yema, minatamis na sampalok (sweet tamarind).
You can also try to buy bean thread and cook pancit. Else you can also try to buy lumpia wrapper to cook spring rolls, the Filipino way.
About give aways or for personal gifts, you can also buy our very own t-shirts printed with Philippines or with our map in it, or something printed on it were tourists spots here in our country. You can buy those shirts in Landmark for almost 2 dollars. Try the cheapest fan (pamaypay) for the ladies , good designs for only .65 cents at the Landmark too.

hello,
i believe good old Philippine Logo clothes and Hopia are the best pasalubong from the Philippines. of course, don't forget the dried mangos and some exotic foods that's supposed to be sealed.

if your co-workers are white people i'm sure they hate strange smell food so my best advise is dried fruits like mango, tamarind and other..you can easily find there at our renound malls here..you can also bring something salty to balance the sweetness in their taste buds, "boy bawang" with different variant and roasted peanut will definately a hit to your co-workers..

Some good food choices I can think of would be sapin sapin, puto and kutchinta unless you'd prefer cooking for them but if that's the case then I think it would be very hard to duplicate the authenticity of the dish while you're there. If that's the case then i don't think you can go wrong with Adobo.

wow!! i missed those foods. want to go home now!!! its quite difficult to cook those kakanin. with regards to adobo i have to bring evrything for that since they only eat at the hospitals cafeteria. those kakanin is also a good option but if am going to make bitbit of it theres a possibilty it would be destroyed. thanks!!

One of the pasalubongs that I can think of that really makes a hit is our sweets such as pulburon, pili nut tarts and pastillas. I just came back from Baguio and discovered that I can buy guava jelly there since I can't find any here in Manila. I suggest guava jelly too, since it is a rarity. You can also bring the usual dried mango, but I prefer giving gifts to relatives coming home from abroad the above mentioned delicacies. Oh, I forgot to mention..Chicharon. Nothing beats our chicharon.

Hi kababayan! I think it would be nice to bring them our Filipino sweets...the ones usually bought from provinces and brought back to Manila. You could try polvoron, pastillas, torrones, barquillos, the famous choco flakes (yummy ), otap, uraro, tarts, peanut brittle, pilipit (is that what it's called? The stick-shaped treat? Hmm...) yema, and so on. Moreover, it would be easy to find them because they're available in Metro Manila, usually at the Sasmuan and Bulacan Sweets shops in malls. The choco flakes are usually available in SM Supermarkets and Shopwise supermarkets by the way. And on another note, it would be easy to bring them and most don't expire easily. I hope these help. Take care!

Sometimes Filipinos doesn't want the usual way of giving pasalubong like "food" they're actually not expressing it so the tendency is they just being grateful rather than nothing to expect. But you should try to bring some pasalubong that came where you worked, because people have different taste so you wouldn't know what it is. So I suggest some food that came in the country where you worked at.

Hello there!! Well that is a great question for the balikbayans. Because we Fili[inos are really thoughtful and we want everyone will be happy when we arrive, we will buy them "pasalubong" or some presence that we present when we arrive. When I came home to Philippines, I bought for my brother and sister a piece of watches, each one of them got what they want and for the children a bunch of chocolates so it make them happy.
