I'm am so outdone w/my doctor, his nurse & what can i do about it? NOTHING!! I went to the dr. last fri. & he thinks i may have diabetes. Of course i have worried myself to death about this. Yesterday i get a letter on my blood work from the lab. Now do y'all know what the hell all those things mean on a lad report. I sure don't. I called the dr.'s office yesterday trying to find out if i do have diabetes or i don't. Do u think they have returned my call, WELL NO they haven't. On the recoding i got it said they would return my call within 24-48 hours. Good grief, if i was something serious u could croak w/in that many hours. Would y'all be upset about this???

Jo, could you write down what the lab report says? I can check that out with my doctor friends. I can have the answer in 3 hours. Besides, I know a lot of that as my hubby had diabetes for some years. Anyway, I want to tell you that the kind of diabetes people our age get can be easily controlled with a diet (not terrible) and pills. So relax. I often think that public health services everywhere behave as though the patient is the enemy they have to torture.

HI MARG, thanks for your offer but there are 2 pages od the report. Wish i had a scanner so i could send them tou. I will admit i have worked myself up into a tizzy. Waiting on anything drives me nuts to start with. I would really like to know what all this mumbo jumbo means. the dr. could have at least said you do or u don't. what a jerk. Health care leaves alot to be desired here for sure. Thanks for your concern. hugs. jo

If you see a place that says anything like A1C send her that info. And a blood glucose level or any thing that looks similar to that. Those would be your two primary things for diabetes.

I sure would. if you have diabetes you need help as soon as possible to control it. i know what you mean. they just dont seem to care that its your life they are playing around with. i had to go yesterday and get blood work and i was just thinking this morning how i dont seem to get any report back myself. i will have to wait for the doc to say something about it. its all so scarey how non chalant they are getting with us.

yes, they are probably gone for the weekend as they have no worries about it all. the only thing i can think to do is tell you to not worry to much, as stress will often bring on sickness. take it from someone that knows ive done this so many times. i would say if its really bad they would have let you know by a call or something. so its probably not as bad as you think. maybe you just have the hyperglycemia like me. thats not so bad. when i feel faint i just take a little honey in my coffee or something. or have a few sips of coke. just make sure you dont go without eating a little of something nutritious at least 3 times a day. my doctor told me several small meals or snacks a day is better then big meals. im also a big worrier, but i try just to do something to get my mind off of things. something i enjoy.

I think that most doctors in this country have very bad attitude towards patients, all they care about now is money and "business", not people. It used to be different years ago when doctor was a doctor not a "businessman"... Hope you are not going to be charge for doctor time when he is going to call you back. HUGS

Why would the lab send the results to you directly, instead of to your doctor?

So the letter was from your doctor? Why didn't the office just call you instead of sending a letter? Or at least make sure it was legible.

Hi Anti. I hope you are dealing with this by now. In my walk with God I have learned that you speak things into being, believe in your heart that you do not have diabetes. Worry is the cheif weapon of Satan's Warfare. Pray make your request known to God praise Him for the answer. Then He will give you peace. I will be praying for you, that you do not have diabetes. Do some research on this because it can be prevented. God Bless U.

i will also feel very nervous and scared if i were in your position and i don't think i can wait 24-48 hours to know about my results... i'm so sorry that you have to endure something like this from your doctor... i hope everything is well and nothing is wrong with your blood test results... just make sure that you take care of yourself and don't eat any sweet thing until you see your doctor again... just in case... take care and have a nice day...

You are fortunate they grace you with a copy of your own information. Maybe your pharmacist could help you read what the doctor wrote on it, as the pharmacist gets used to reading poor writing from the doctor. Look for things like I told you up by Marguicha, to find out about the diabetes. I know those things are hard to read, but my doctor always sent them to me, and I liked that, because line by line I can eventually figure it out. I will admit that I have some medical background, and that is useful, and I have some books on hand that I can read to help as well.

Of course I too would be upset if given the same situation. I mean waiting too long just to confirm something that really bothers you is difficult and noticing the lack of concern on others would add some more burden. Who would want to have diabetes, not you, neither I, nor anyone? So if the the doctor gave you the probability that you have this illness then I would not be surprised if it caused you anxieties. But the doctor's office is just too inefficient. They did not care at all! How sad to note how lax they have been in an issue that caused you a great deal of worries. My dear I just pray that your blood test will be negative for that illness! It would be quite tough if you really have that.

I agree. That kind of response is reprehensible. It is as bad as the military. When I call for a renewal on one of my prescriptions, they will do it - at their leisure, but they will not call me back to let me know that it has been done or at which pharmacy I'm supposed to pick it up. There are only a half dozen military pharmacies where I might up a prescription that range from 2 miles to 40 miles from my house.

Yes, I would be upset, too. I don't blame you for being so worried. I hope I don't come across like I'm telling you what to do, but if it were me, I would call them if I don't hear from them once this length of time is up. That is, if you don't hear from them. I never have seen a report like this and I doubt if I would understand what it means, either. I hope the news is good and that you don't have diabetes. Please keep us informed. Kathy.

Waiting for a doctor to call back is like waiting for hell to freeze over. In 24 to 48 hours yes someone could croak. My parents have gone through this type of treatment too. I truly believe that once you get to a certain age they don't really care about you and you are like a second class citizen. I get so angry when I hear the horror stories that my parents have gone thru. I can't be there for them since we live so far away from each other. My dad found out last November that he had diabetes and of course he was very upset. You probably don't have diabetes because if you did I think they would have called you to tell you. I hope and pray you don't have it but if you do it can be rectified by eating the right foods and exercise. My father who is 75 years old is exercising with the Wii every other day to help him lose weight and keep the bones and muscles strong. Good luck to you!

I'm totally disgusted w/him 7 IF THERE WAS SOMEONE TO GO TO BESIDES HIM I WOULD. dON'T THINK ALOT OF ANY OUR DOCTORS HERE. Hope u have a great weekend.

Well, don't worry much. If it is not severe, if you have diabetes, just go on diet and do lifestyle modification such as exercise. If it is fasting blood sugar, the normal is 80 to 120 mg/dl.

OMG, I find it amazing that you would over "cyber" give medical advice, that there is NO basis to give..!!! She blatantly explained it was not a "fasting" example...so the levels you are giving has no consequence. I just ask that Medical Advice, without knowing the person/history should NOT be expounded. YES, she has a right to be stressed...she would like results, from a Professional Medic. I am a retired Paramedic, and would NOT under any circumstance offer ONLINE advice. Take care...and Cheers!

Doctors have been and are still known to be impatient, perfunctory and insensitive to the needs of sick people. While there is no doubt that many doctors have long queues of patients and are very busy, this does not warrant cursory attention given to the patients. Patients expect sympathy, a listening ear, understanding and advice. The best option I think is to seek a second opinion from another doctor.

I would definitely be upset about that. I dislike doctors very much and do not trust them. There are plenty of ways to cure high blood sugar and Diabetes naturally. Do not think that Insulin injections or tablets are the only way. The doctors may only tell you of these methods, but I know of people who have gotten off insulin, just by changing their diets. You can check out some of the links on my profile as they are a great source of natural health information and there is a diabetes one there, or also these links below. http://www.treeoflife.nu/home-index/ http://www.rawfamily.com/ I hope that this info can help you.

I did have a great weekend thanks, Monday morning here and back into it now! My parents are going through a similar thing to you and we have been helping them to change their diets, but they believe everything that doctors tell them and are not that willing to listen to tried and true natural remedies that have worked for thousands of years. It is frustrating and I hope they will eventually see the light. I hope the doctors get back to you soon.
