Are you scared of the future?

Well, I thought at thsi time in my life that I would be finding a career. Also, in a relationship settling down and perhaps having children. But it seems like with this recession things are not getting any better. A lot of companies are closing down and where is everyone going to work? Each company wants to take over something but where is everyone going to go? People say go to college so you can get a good paying job but it looks like people are not willing to hire the people who want more pay. It seems like everyone is going to go back to school and for what? We can't have a McDonalds on every corner..Where do you think the future will lead too?

Desperation in the air. I feel scared sometimes. Actually most of the times nowadays. Yes your right in saying people dont want to hire people wanting more pay.
But questioning the fact that everyone is going to school is not right according to me. Getting education is never a waste of time. Education will help one all through ones life one can never say it is a waste of time going to college just because one cant get any jobs presently

It seems like people went to school to get a degree in something and end up working in something totally different. I am not saying education is bad but it makes me double think again about going back to school. For example, I live in Florida and everyone talks about nurses are in need and medical assistants. But one of the biggest hopsitals in Miami are letting go a bunch of nurses because of budget costs.

Hopefully back to agriculture. Okay I'm a bit of an environmentalist. We have too many of everything, why not go back to farming, we need food, it'd be a good business as long as the crops are good, and the cattle is fair. Come on now, it'd be healthier for us all in the long run.
Yea, I know it's easier said then done.
As for your question, yes my husband and I are both scared for the future but what can we do? I guess just plan and save really.

But how are people suppose to plan and save when there is no job security anymore? I am not so sure about the farming thing because I have no clue where that comes into text but sure it will be healthier.

Yeah, as far as I am concerned, I think I am a little scared of the future, which can be unknown to me. So I just do not know what a person I will be. What a life I will have in the near future. So I am a little scared of the future.

I always pictured my life one way. I am not saying that would have been the correct route but this world is not in a good condition at all. It is so bad and who knows when things will get better or if they will..

Well, i dont worry much about future and tommorrow. I believe in present. Well i agree about what you said. But why do you worry more about future. Recession, earthquakes, poverty everything exists, we have to cross through..goods and bad we have to face them. So rather take up life as it comes.

I understand take it as it comes but don't you ever wonder when can you really start enjoying life? Think about the people who were working regular and then all of a sudden they have been on unemployment for 2 years and are barely surviving? The foreclosures and everything what will happen?

Hi Flirty,
Yes, this world will never get better. If you are reading the Bible it were all prophesied in the Book of Revelations. More wars, famine, pestilence, calamities, and a One world government. Then, Anti-Christ will reign and govern the earth. Promise to give good life to the people and because people were all blinded and covered will all hardship they will listen to him too. What we can do now, is be strong and hold on to our faith in God. Only with Him we can find contentment and happiness in life.

So are you more scared because of what your religion says or the actual present life?

Future looks bleak to many in these times of recession. I feel a bit lucky since I live in a country which is not much affected. However, I understand the extent of difficulties people have to go through when their future prospects are jeopardised for one reason or the other. I always used to feel that higher degrees may put one in a better position in the job market, but you say that many employers are reluctant to recruit those who need higher pays, because they have higher qualifications. This is really a great crisis. I feel this can even lead to a general attitude that higher educaion has no value in life. How can we face this situation? Well, I feel one could try the best to stay self-reliant. Learn a trade that will keep one self-employed. And I feel that the internet opens up a lot of opportunities. Telcommunting is a plausible option - though there can be some issues that has to be properly understood and resolved, regarding the tax rules, technical specifics, etc. I agree that there is no easy solution, but we have to keep trying, right?

If things don't turn around soon, the future is going to be in the toilet. Jobs are rare, money is tight and families are losing everything. Nothing is getting better. College may have been the answer at one time but now I think the goal is to start over. Get whatever job you can, work your backside off and slowly build things up again. I don't think the economy is done falling yet but when it does hit bottom that's when we will need to start building it back up.

hi flirtykumquat,
Sometimes, I'm getting scared on what future awaits for me. However, I believe that it is me who will still make my future and destiny. All I can do now is to assure that I will have a better future through focusing on my studies than having any vices. It will be also a great help if I will start planning now my future.

I am scared of the future. I try to work as hard as I can but the way the economy is going I don't think it will matter how hard I work.

I think we all get a little scared of the future. We are unncerain of what tomorrow will bring. That feeling can br quite unsettling. The future is undetermined. Decisions we make will sometimes slter our futures. Things we cannot see or control frighten us. The future certainly fslls into that category.

I just hate the fact that there is like no job security anymore. Everyday when I come to work I have no idea what is going on and if this will be the last day or not. I feel like I have so much talent to do something but the way this economy is it is so bad. I mean no one knows the future but no one would have thought it would have gotten to be this bad

Petrified is more like it for me. Although it is a little bit better than a few months ago, I still don't see any light at the end of the tunnel. More like an oncoming train. There is still no security at work, and the bills still keep piling up. If you don't have a family yet, I think you're in a better situation than most of us that do. And that's what terrifies me.
I hope your future will brighten up soon!

When I think of the future, I always think of my dreams and how I'll be able to accomplish them. The future always seems so bright for me. You know, when you have dreams and goals in life, it makes you keep going. I think what's most important is the present because what you do at present will define your future. Don't worry about what's gonna happen to the world in the future because what's most important is living your life to the fullest and accomplishing your goals so that you won't have regrets in the future.

I had dreams for a long time then reality sunk in. I want to go back to school so bad and finish but if I cut hours at my job I would not be able to survive. Some people have it easier than others so it's easy for them to mess up and try again. Some people only get that one chance to do what they want.

Of course I'm scared of my own future..If I was so certain about it the I wouldn't try to make income through online...and it will save me a big time to relax at home..But as my experiences have thought me, things have never gone so smooth to me, so I should anticipate some twists in my life...And this is one of the ways I do it.

Hi, Flirtykumquat.
Frankly speaking, I do have a little scare of the unpredictable future. As we all know, it is a society of law of the jungle. All walks of life turn out to be increasingly competitive. All what we can do is to improve our own abilities and to enhance the sense of self-protection. Only the way of self-help can help us to go through the difficulties and hardships. Anyway, no matter how the world will change into, we have no choice but to face it bravely and optimistically. Have a little faith, a little hope and a little persistence to fight for the unknown future.
Have a nice day.

I think the future not something we should scare about.. There's always a way out of our problem.. For me, future is like a big question, and there're several way to solve that big question :)
Where the future will lead us is how we lead our own life from today :)
