I have recently stopped smoking and i went to see a friend today and i could smell the smoke in her house from her having a smoke, where as i never used to smell it when i used to smoke in my house. Now if people want a smoke they get to smoke outside rather than indoors as i am going to start decorating and do not want yellow ceilings from the cigarrette.

HI Jugs,
I just quit too and I'm still struggling with it but that isn't the reason why no one smokes in my home. The smoke really, really bothers my daughter. I used to smoke in my old apartment when my daughter wasn't around but she complained that she could smell it anyway and so I just stopped it even when she wasn't home. It helped me to cut back. The cleanup of the ceiling and walls etc is unbelievable when you smoke in your home and when a person that doesn't smoke comes in, it just smells horrible. My friends are really good about going outside. Starting today we are not even to smoke outside the buildings. We can go to the parking lot so I'm curious to see how this plays out. That was a major reason why I quit. I don't want to run to the parking lot each time I want a butt.

I so so understand your struggle. I have cheated some here and there myself. It's really hard, isn't it? You'll get it, Jugs. Just syke yourself up again and start over. I did end up getting the patch and it does help take the edge off. I think the key is to not give up when you cheat and then start right back in smoking full time. I go right back into quit mode. The level of nicotine that I've been putting into my body for the past 40+ yrs is getting lower and lower so I'm sure ( or I hope) if I stick to it that eventually I'll succeed.

I am sorry to say i am smoking again, but only until the injections turn up for my skin that has got really bad and sore. With the injections in my system then there will be no trouble with my skin so i will give up totally as i found that even for that short period of time my other health problems were getting alot better.

My house is a NO SMOKING house because I have Asthma and Allergies and I have a cat who also has Allergies, so if anyone has to smoke, they better take it outside.

If people smoke, they do so outside of my house. I'm allergic and if someone smokes in my house, I could become really ill. I also don't enjoy my house smelling of smoke. I think the smell is foul.

None of my close family or friends smokes so this hasn't really been an issue for me, thankfully. However, I think it's great that you've stopped smoking because I've heard the horrible effects it can have on the body. I also know what you mean about the yellowed ceilings and walls from smoking. A year ago when my husband and I were house hunting, we looked at a really small and cute house, but a smoker had lived there. You could see where pictures had been hung at one point because the walls were a deeper color everywhere except for where the pictures had been hanging at one time. It was really disgusting to be honest with you. We walked in the house and could hardly stand to look at it. The sad part was that we probably really would've liked the house otherwise! It's just so hard to sell a car or house or pretty much anything else from a smoker. I also have asthma, so I can't be around smoke - my lungs constrict, and I have a hard time breathing. It's scary! Anyway, I will never have anyone smoking in my house. That is against my rules for obvious health reasons. They can smoke outside just like you friends do now that you've stopped smoking! It's definitely worth it to stop smoking for all the things it can ruin. Again, I think it's so great that you've stopped smoking. You've added years to your life be doing so! Keep up the good work!

I don't smoke and don't like to have people who smoke in my house. I think its rude for people who smoke to still try and want to smoke at a place they know is a non smoking place.

Good for your new life, and I am sure it will help your health, as well as your pocketbook. No one smokes in my house, and maybe only one or two ever smoke in my yard. It is great when you regain your sense of smell, but as you can tell, you can smell everyone else's habits.

no smoking, no cough, no cancer, no need to go to hospital for treatment and the most important is make other people health. No one smokes in my house, i'm happy for that. My friends and neighbors always respect my family by not smoking in my house.

Most of our friends and relatives don't smoke. So we are lucky. We don't even have a ashtray in our house. Perhaps people realize that it is harmful to smoke. And it is worse to let people suffer second hand smoking.

First of all, congrats to you for not smoking anymore. My house has always been a NO SMOKING zone. Before my mom didn't really mind when people smoked outside of our house but after my brother and I got bronchitis due to second hand smoke she put her foot down and no one was allowed to smoke anywhere near the house. But you do have a point, it is really easy for a non smoker to tell, be it in a house or the lingering smell on a person's clothes. It's hard to miss.

Hi Jugs,
Smoking is no-no at home. I am not smoking but my my husband does. he smokes outside the house. my friends and relatives or whoever visits us really smoke outside. no need for me to tell them. they are aware that smoking is unacceptable but since they are into it and i understand so they have it outside.

As far as I am concerned, I think I am a person who does not like to smoke in my daily life, which can be good to my health. So if go to my friends, or they come to visit me, I think all of us will choose not to smoke, which can be a better choice for us all.

I hate people who smoke...especially in my own house..If there is a thick face person who smoke inside my house, I would pretend to be coughing and then I will swing my hand softly to clear the poluted air...It has been working well until now..I really don't want to make further action.

I hate that. My husband used to go outside to smoke when we separated he smoked inside and now that we are back together he still does it and it irritates me no end.

hi jugsjugs congratulations as smoking is so bad for people. I always wished my hubby would quit, but he just could not seem to do it, and that killed him. three heart attacks and they had warned him that his three packs a day would lead to heart trouble. so I am always so glad when any of my friends who have smoked quit, its just so great. I have heard other people say they could smell smoke after they had quit. I remember how yellowed my draperies would get, and how many times I hAd to have them dry cleaned and still it never quite came out. Good for you jugsjugs.
