I wash my hair with shampoo. I don't like to wash my hair with soap. I have some friends who use soap for their hair.

I washed my hair with shampoo, but I seldom used shampoo. Maybe twice a week I am using a shampoo. But I am more into the conditioner than the shampoo.

I use handmade bar soap that I make as shampoo. Really, as long as it's natural soap and not a synthetic detergent bar (most commercially produced soaps are synthetic, so be careful) it's fine to use as shampoo. I've found that I almost never need a conditioner since I switched to using handmade soap in place of shampoo.

I use shampoo. I think if there is no shampoo that using Dish washing soap like Ajax or dawn (the stuff you can also wash your hands with) is fine, but I don't know about bath soap.
If you don't have shampoo you can always use a bit of baby powder to get the oily out of your hair and comb it out until you can go get some shampoo.

I wash my hair with shampoo and then apply conditioner and rinse it very well. Conditioners are meant to add shine, protect hair from drying out and allow for easier combing. I have never used soap on my hair. I think it just makes your hair dry and bad. Shampoo is meant to remove dirt, sebum and product buildup from your hair. You want a gentle shampoo marked for daily or frequent washing. Consider using a spray conditioner. They tend to be more light-weight and therefore don't weigh the hair down. Also, unless your hair is extra-oily, there's no need to 'rinse and repeat.' One shampoo will do you. You don't have to lather twice.

It is said that soap is not good to wash hair that it damages the hair. I use shampoo and I use it every other day. During the good old days we use soap and our hair was quite good. But today it is a different picture. So we go with the trend and use shampoo.

i never use soap even if i dont have shampoo. instead i skip taking head bath on that day . The scalp is very sensitive not like our skin.soap can make your scalp dry resulting in hair loss.

Hi, siliguri. There are actually soaps that you can use to wash your hair in. I have seen some on the Internet. I have never used any soap on my hair. I think that I have used some soap on my daughters hair when she was much younger. I always use shampoo on my hair. Speaking of shampoo, I have to wash my hair today.

Shampoo is definitely best for hair; however, in a real pinch, I have been known to use soap. The choice has to be between really dirty, oily, greasy, yucky hair and clean hair with a 'film' on it; at least that's what it felt like at the time. Soap often leaves scum behind, and that is the stuff left in the hair that can be like a 'film', dry it, or frizz it out. The type and quality of the soap would definitely determine what it would do to your hair. Again, I'd have to be really desperate to use soap on my hair. Better to just brush it out the way gramma used to; you know the 100 brush strokes that stimulates the scalp and moves all that oil throughout your whole head of hair.

It is always better to wash our hair with a mild shampoo. This is because all the soaps are alkaline based. so irritate the skin of the face and scalp. So its wise to use a facewash for the face and shampoo for washing hair.

Its always best to wash our hair with a mild shampoo. All soaps are alkaline based which are harmful to sensitive skin especially for face and hair. So its wise to use a shampoo rather than soap for rinsing hair.
