i thought i had the best sleep last night, ever. what happened was, while cleaning the store room a few days ago, i stumbled on something which was neatly wrapped in plastic which turned out to be a pillow. we bought it many moons ago, dumped it there and forgot about the whole thing. and since no one wanted to trade theirs, i thought, what better use of it than to use it myself. it's made of polyester fiber, is soft and is a high pillow. i'm more a side-sleeper so it keeps my head, neck and spine aligned and straight and that has kept me relaxed throughout the night. i just can't wait to get on it.
so what's your pillow type? is it one that gives you extra support from stiff neck, a low pillow or a medium-high.
are you a side sleeper like me or one who sleeps on his stomach or on his back or what?
my dear myLotters, i love to hear you.

I personally prefer medium sized pillows. This due to health reasons of asthma. In terms of sleeping, I am a side sleeper as well. Left side to be specific. It is scientifically proven that sleeping in your left side is the best position. It is because of your heart position. Your heart is on the left side and not right. Negative effects of side sleeping: part of your face is on the bed which means wrinkles. Sleeping on your stomach is bad for breathing. Sleeping on your back is bad because of the heart position. Sleep in your left side, it is the best :)

I don't actually know if what position-type a sleeper I am, 'coz I can sleep in any positions with or without a pillow, or every time I woke up, I find myself in different weird positions or at the different side of the bed.. the only thing that makes me woke up at the wrong side when I find myself sleeping sideways and I was in a curling position the entire night, and the result will always be having stiffed neck or a bad back for the entire day, and it just ruins everything.. my mom won't allow me to sleep onto a very fluffly and bulky pillow coz according to her that's the main cause of giving me a bad posture and making me slouch, so my head pillow is usually a very flat one, and for it being so old makes it even flatter...

hi mishyyu,
stiff necks are horrible, aren't they? well, as long as you can sleep well in whatever position and not waking up with a stiff neck, that matters. thank you very much for sharing. it's been great really. have a wonderful sleep tonight and a great day ahead tomorrow and keep myLotting.

I have a much used soft and low pillow…my head never feels comfortable on a high pillow. Though the pillow I use now has become quite limp due to excessive use, I just love its feel against my head. Its not synthetic, stuffed with cotton-wool so I think I’ll get it re-stuffed but then that would fluff it up and for some months at least it will remain as a high pillow…so I’m not really keen on it.

hi sudiptacallingu,
you are not far from the truth. i can relate to this. and that was exactly the reason why no one in the house wishes to trade their pillows for. now that i'v found mine, i don't think i would either. well it's great too that you've found yours. have a wonderful sleep tonight and a great day ahead. thanks for sharing :)

My pillow is... well, a normal one. I don't know how to call this type, but I have always used this kind of pillow, so I suppose that it's a regular one .
I sleep on one of my sides too, so I need my pillow to be a little tall so my neck will not hurt when I wake up in the morning

hi madteaparty,
you are just a side-sleeper like me. from the discussion, side-sleepers normally have medium to high pillows to sleep on because they keep the head, neck and spine aligned and straight. great as long as long as you know your body and enjoy your sleep. thanks for sharing. have a wonderful sleep tonight and a great day ahead :)

You know most nights I start off on my side but then move towards my stomach more and I have a habit, I don't know why of raising one leg, like bending it slightly closer to my body. My partner sleeps on his side a lot but moves around so much sometimes on his back too. It is interesting though how much one can move this way and that way throughout the night. I sometimes wonder why we get so restless and fidget so much. I get annoyed I guess personally because sometimes my partner puts some weight on my arm while I am sleeping and when I get up I wonder why my arm is hurts in the morning. We have a big bed but he still moves closer and closer to my side while there is a sea of space on his side. Everyone has their faults with sleeping patterns I guess.

hi bluemars,
i understand you very clearly. yes, indeed it is very interesting to note how one sleeps. and i personally feel that sleeping patterns are very personal. i think even twins do not have the same sleeping patterns. if your partner moves more to the left maybe you should sleep on his right then or vice versa. anyway, thank you so much for sharing. really appreciate it. have a wonderful sleep tonight :)

Well i am side sleeper and i use a medium type pillow. I like to use soft pillows to rest my back. But for sleeping i use medium pillow just one.

I am a side sleeper like you and I prefer medium high pillow. I couldn't sleep well if I'm flat on my back, there were instances where I was grasping my breath when I wake up when I lie flat at my back, so from then on I don't use low pillow too.

hi pabreen,
yes i understand that because i can't sleep on my back either. i think it's important to know how we sleep and the pillow we use too as they can make or break our day. it's good you know yours. thanks for responding. have a great sleep tonight :)
