it's not originally from the philipinnes..it's not new to western countries too because it has been available there years ago. i can even say that we are late in the philippines because it is just beginning to be known here whereas other countries have been enjoying ice cream cake long before. it's a cake with layers of cookie crumbs or pound cake and ice cream. some also put chocolate. isn't this available in your country?

really...true confections on QTV has done a lot of it in their show..it is also made of ice cream and pounded cookies or graham crakers and you can also add chocolate or your favorite fruits. instead of baking them, you have to chill them. they are presented like cakes too. you can put icing too.

Mmm...reading this thread makes my mouth water already...
Magnolia used to have ice cream cakes when I was a kid, it's sad they're not around anymore. A couple years back I even got to taste durian-flavored ice cream cake from a friend who just came from Davao...and it was heavenly! I have yet to see ice cream cake sold on local groceries or supermarkets though. The only ice cream cake I know of these days are the really expensive ones from Haagen Dazs :(
