I do love to eat meals with rice, we are used to it. But I think I'm gaining more weight these past weeks. I'm thinking to not eat rice but it will be really difficult for me. I will just less the amount of rice I eat for now. And let's see If I can later on.

Rice is the staple food here so I am used to it. However, I don't eat rice every meal, only once or twice a day, I guess. I am more into bread or pasta instead of rice. Sometimes, I just don't feel like eating rice at all. It's got lots of carbohydrates so if you eat too much you'd definitely gain weight, especially if you don't have a fast metabolism.

hi vycess,
yeah we are also used to eating rice. and i think a meal is not a meal without it and no matter how delicious the viands are it can't make me really full and satisfied without rice.
you can just cut some of your rice intake into half. or maybe you can use the brown rice.

Same here, I feel that a meal is not complete without rice. I couldn't last a day without eating rice. I hate brown rice though, they say it's healthy but for me the taste is really awful. I love chao fan or fried rice mixed with ground beef and vegetable. I am actually eating chao fan right now while typing this. lol.

Rice is our staple food so definitely we are used to it during lunch or dinner, though some have fried rice too for breakfast. However, if you think you are gaining more weight, you can lessen your rice intake and instead replace it with fruits and vegetables. Or maybe, you try to exercise more so will be able to lose those unwanted pounds. Rice is energy giving food. Me, I tend to be weak when I do not eat rice with my meal and it's easily for me to get hungry, so I rather eat with rice and skip my snacks.

Hi sushie: I have heard about that, but it's not only in your country. I'm from Latin America and here, where I live we produce enough rice so mymom preparesit everyday and as you have mentioned, sometimesit's difficult to follow the routine. Thanks for your answer.

Hello again dear Vycess , actually when i was living back in Roumania and i was around seven years old i used to eat actually verry often rice , and i eated Vietnam cooking style , and i was suuch a huuge fan of it , but ever since i mooved in Belgium i started to eat less often then before and not cooked at home , most of the time that i get to eat rice now is when i go out and eat at a Chinese or simply a restaurant with an Asian cuisine , and its there where i am having the Rice cooked how i love it , because if you put me a plate of rice cooked in Roumanian style i wont eat it , because its differs alot from the Asian style . Well another type of cuisine that i love its Indian , and to be honest its been almost two years since i haven't eaten at a Indian restaurant , since in belgium , in my part of town i haven't found a single Indian restaurant , the last time i eaten was in France (Marseille ) and i felt in love of the Indian cuisine.
Have a nice start of day dear Vycess

Hi vycess: I think I can understand you because, inmy house, my mom prepares rice almost everyday. When I started on adiet I prefer not to take rice in my lunch, it's difficult when you're used to eat rice everyday but I'm sureyou can stop eating rice for a while. Thanks for asking us this question. Good Luck.

usually in south india more than 80% of people eat three times rice. They will be consuming as directly as white rice, or as other foods like idly, dosa, puttu, appam etc. We cannot even think of a day without rice. Of course wheat is also becoming a part nowadays

i slowed down on my rice intake after my blood test results show an increase in my sugar level. yup, rice is nice. but then it also contains natural starch and carbs. too much of that can be quite risky to our health nowadays..
so once i slowed down, i actually realized that i'm losing weight too :) so now my steady diet has been mostly tasty sandwiches which i prepare with wholemeal, keeps me full and keeps the waistline trim :)

Well, vycess,i don't think your putting on weight because of eating rice.As a stapple, rice is very important for our health. It together with other healthy foods build our bodies.Check the list of your daily foods, especially snacks and junck food, maybe they are the reason that you gain weight.

I like to eat rice in moderation only during lunch and dinner but in the morning only bread and coffee with milk of any kind or with coffee mate. Asian people love to eat rice with gusto but it should be noted it is an everyday life for them having rice always on the table. I eat more with fruits and veggies in everyday servings.

Well you can certainly REDUCE rice intake, take things made from wheat, try oatmeal too, i have left eating rice for past 25 years or so, i take our indian 'roti;,'paratha' made from wheat flour..Once in a blue moon i take special dishes from fine scented rice..
Thank you so much for this nice discussion, cheers
God bless you.
