Hello mylotters, I was wondering if there were other people here who work in the call center industry. So tell me something are you enjoying it so far? How long have you stayed in your present company? What position do you hold? What do you do? I'm currently a supervisor and i've been in my present company for 2 years and i handle a team of 15 wonderful people. I love the fact that i help them out on a daily, weekly, monthly and annual basis. :D keep on mylotting and i hope i get to meet whoever's in a callcenter here cause i got some more questions. I just haven't really thought of it yet :D

I work in a callcenter, I have only been there about a month now and I am not enjoying it, theres nothing wrong with the company itself, the bosses are all nice and encoraging people, all there to help us, and all have their ways of trying to make it fun there and helping us to enjoy our work. I think its just because Im new, its like a catch 22, obviously there are things that I wont know or learn unless Im actually taking calls, but while Im learning and taking calls I just feel like an idiot on the phone, as I dont know a lot of the stuff, when Im trying to solve things for customers I feel so sorry for them that they have come through to me and not gone through to someone who knows what they are doing. I feel bad that they are stuck on the phone waiting for me to find out how to do something, obviously they dont know that Im new so then I wonder if they think that its normal to wait that long on the phone. I usually come off the phone feeling that I have let them down as its taken so long for me to find out something for them. I hope this improves soon as I get more experienced as right now I dread going to work. I hope I can stick it out as it seems like a nice company to work for.

Wow, I understand exactly how that feels. Every time I was waiting for a call back then, I felt butterflies in my stomach. I felt like going to the rest room every 15 minutes. But I guess it passes after a while.

i've gone through a similar experience. The only remedy for that is to study, study, study and then ask, ask, ask and then study, study study some more and when in doubt.... ask :D

every call center agents have been through what you're going through right now. it's just a matter of individual perspective if you will give up or persevere. if you're working with a nice company, I suggest that you stick around. learn more and gain more experience. hard work is always rewarding. I can assure you that in a few months or so, you will not be intimidated by your customers anymore, they will be instead. when this happens, you will feel that you're always beyond them and you will belittle them. however, you should know your place. your job (or our job) is to help people. we do it in a polite way. don't forget that in the beginning, we're idiots who know nothing. just my two cents.

I worked for one of the major call centers here in my place. I enjoyed the work environment and my co-workers but the schedule and the stress is just too much to take at times.

Well i just tried it out since last year and so far, i've been in 2 accounts. I'm pretty much enjoying working with a lot of different people even though i'm starting to get bored. But still it's a learning experience, customer service is not just about helping your customers... it's also about improving yourself. =)

I'm also working in a call center. This is my first job after getting out of school. I'm with my current company for 4 years now. By that you can guess that I'm enjoying my work. I'm still an agent, though. I'm slacker, that's probably why I'm still in the lowest position. I don't mind. I'm the type that is underworked but overpaid. LOL.

4 years... hmmm you should definitely start seeking out opportunities in your company. If not just for the position but also the wealth of experience you're gonna derive from being in a position to help others. being an agent is fine, you are the backbone of the company but if you do not share the experience to newer guys than it'll be a waste. I believe 2 years is enough for someone to start seeking promotion in order to help the newer guys coming in. good luck :D
