Whenever we mention money, all of us is sensitive. But most of people like or love it. We often hear that no money,no anything. At the moment, all the prices have been increasing, people complain strongly about that because this has threaten the people's living. They are short of money,so they can't afford the house or appartment in the big cities. At the same time, they bear other burdens such as raising families, chilren education, transportation and so forth. Personally, such people are in danger of homelessness or spiritual collapse. I am concerned about that. All of this is due to no money. So money is very important for us.
What do you think of it???

A co-worker once said to me 'Money does not give you happiness - but it does give you options'. For me that sort of sums up the importance of money in our society.

It depends on persons point of view. There are a lot of people who think that money is the most important in this world. Well, for me it's true that life is difficult when money becomes a very big issue, but I think it is a shallow mentality to regard that money is the source of eveything. King Solomon of the Bible in the old testament, he is the king who had everything literally, but he learned that money is not the answer to everything. Read the book of Ecclesiastes for you to find out.

to a certain extent, yes... but it is not everything i guess... money is only a tool to help us to survive in this world... but there are many other more important things than money in this world that can't be bought by money... i always think that as long as i have sufficient money to survive, that's all i am asking for... i never ask to be a rich person and i don't want to... i won't be able to bring all my money with me to the grave when i die anyway... take care and have a nice day...

Money is very vital nowadays. i don't get it why people consider money as the root of evil. money's been used to pay bills/expenses, purchase different things(food, clothing, shelter, gadgets, utensils, supplies, medicines)... i want to be wealthy someday so I could support my personal and medical needs and the necessities of my loved ones as well.. i want to help other people too especially those who are in need (cancer patiens, elderly people, street children, etc).

The importance of money depends on each individual. I personally think that money is a necessity and one can't do without it. For example, if we don't have money how would we survive? how would we eat? drink? have a roof? all these are necessities that must be seen as very important rather then just important.

Money is the unit of measurment for value, saying that everything is money is like saying that everything is made of inches just because you choose to measure it in inches.
There is no reason you shouldn't work out how much you value somthing relative to an experiance or an amount of free time; your choice of coinage is arbitary.

Of course money is very important in to our modern society today. If we can just go back in the earlier civilization when life is pretty much ordinary then there still a chance that we wont be so dependent on money. In the early days money is not that heavily important to a lot of people. They lived with wild fruits and backyard vegetables and crops. So no need for money.
But then things become so modern that in every turn you will be exposed to material things that requires money to get or owned it. If the government can make money then they should make more to help the poor. Just a wishful thinking right.

Money is extremely important in modern society. It is one of the greatest motivators. Many situations and relationships are based on financial concerns. Money shouldn't be what leads us, but it often is.

Money is a big part of our society. With it, we can get the things that we want and live a comfortable lifestyle. Without it, the opposite happens. It really rules who is important in society in many ways. It is really a double edged sword in many ways. We need the money to live but the money can corrupt and lead to some of the problems in society.
I personally think that you only need enough money to live a comfortable life style. Perhaps a little bit extra for an emergency. Any more and there could be a lot of problems. In many ways, we hear about the problems that people who do not have the means to live but people who have too much also have their problems. Granted it is an entirely new set of problems. Still in the end, money is important, even though it is just a necessary evil at times.

hi devono, money today is not really that important now because we only use money so that we could survive in this world like food, clothing and shelter.. The people nowadays are more practical and they don't need money anymore... some people are happy on what they are and what they can do today.. hope all people are like that.. because that can be helpful in the society..

Money is Important for all as they are trying hard to earn that. Making savings and doing overtimes, all just for a luxurious life. For a good living of our child. No one wants to live as poor. Everyone wants to be rich. so money became very very important for all.

Money may be important to us but it is not the "MOST" important thing in life. Yes we all need money but it doesn" always lead to happiness. For example you can have more money than you could ever spend in a lifetime but if you do not have "PEACE OF MIND" the money will not help.
There have been times in my life when I have had a great deal of $$$$'s and I was not happy. Yes, I could buy "MATERIAL" things but without someone to share them with it means nothing. On the other hand some of the happiest times in my life, when I had very little or no money to speak of, but was loved by a good wife and family meant more to me than when I was well off and alone.
Now I am alone again and I am the advanced age of 65 and on a fixed income living in Thailand,(can't afford to live in the U.S.),where the cost of living is far below U.S. prices for living expenses, recreation and so on.
Back to your question; is money very important in a modern society? I would say "YES" and "NO". It's up to you and what is wanted out life. We only go around once in life. Don't you think?

Truly these days, money is very important. You cannot do anything without it. You cannot go anywhere without it. Everything is worth a money. We pay every small thing we need. As you said, prices get higher and higher everyday, that is why if you are jobless and you have a family, that is a big big problem. True enough that money is important.

I think money is important but it shouldn't be the most important thing in life. Sure we need money to carry on day to day transaction like paying for food, paying for gas to get to work/school but we shouldn't forget that what is most important in life is friends and family. Money is needed but obtaining money shouldn't stand in the way of enjoying time with people. I think people who are very rich sometimes forget that life isn't all about money. Money is also very important to me as I need to pay my tuition bill and daily needs but remind myself everyday to not let money take over my life.

I hate to admit it but money is the most important thing in existence I think! I don't have enough of it and I would like a lot more the green stuff to flow into my life! Money can also be very problematic for many people, being in debt and so forth. I wish that we could live in a time whereby money was no longer needed! We could then share and exchange or borrow goods from each other and I'm pretty sure that we wouldn't have the problems that we have now. Andrew
