the reason why over hydrating can be dangerous is that when you consume large amounts of water when exercising, blood plasma (the liquid part of blood) increases, while sodium concentration is the body fluids decreases, both as a result of the dilution by the water but also because sodium in lost by sweating, hyponatremia, or low blood sodium, generally happens after drinking to much plain water and can lead to adverse effects and tissue damage, and interfere with brain, heart, and muscle funtion, early symptoms can be difficult to spot but some common are confusion, nausea, fatigue, muscle cramps and weakness, the best way to know how much (plain) water your body needs, you simply multiply your body weight by .66 the result will give you how many ounces of water you need with in a day..i hope this help you..

Hello liftyouup. We find ourself blotted if we already consumed more than the required water consumption. But even we consumed more glasses of water it does no harm to our body. Aside from cooling our body during heat or warm climate, balancing or maintain our body core temperature, cleanses our body any water in excess will always be excreted through our sweat, saliva, urine, even in our feces.
I don't think consuming more water causes harm to our body as long we are healthy and not among those people who are sick they needed some diuretic so as to excrete excess water. Actually there's a more specific scientific/medical explanation regarding such matter.
Welcome to mylot and happy mylotting.

They call it water poisoning or water intoxication. Too much water flushes out the kidneys and electrolytes you need in your body. It leaves your body weak and you can die. However you shouldn't worry as it's rather hard to drink that much water. Often people only get it during water drinking contests and games. You have to drink A LOT of water in a short amount of time in order to get sick from it. If you are thirsty at all, then you're in danger of dehydration and don't have to worry about water poisoning at all. Honestly more people get ill from lack of water rather than too much. Just don't take part in water drinking contests. Healthy kidneys can process a liter of water an hour easily.

The answer is yes. Too much of anything is bad. It's the same to drinking water as well. If we drink too much water, we will be drained of essential minerals and will overload our kidney too. Besides, there will be symptoms of water intoxication. The guide line is to drink about 6 to 8 big glasses of water per day. It's about 1.6 to 2 liter in one day. I am trying to follow this guide line. When I drink more than this limit, I will feel uneasy because of excessive urination.

With water, there is no limit to how much you can drink and the healthiness factor of it be changed. The only time it would be unhealthy is when you drink so much of it in one sitting that it floods your body and you drown from the inside. I hope this was of some help to you.
