I often say
"The presidents office how may I help you?"
"I'm not here but please leave a message and then I say beeep :Þ"
or
"Hello, it's the president, how may I help you"
I dont like just to say Hello when I answer the phone
that's so boring :D

"I'm not here but please leave a message and then I say beeep" - Good one. Does anyone leave a message when you say that?

Nice! Do you say...
"Thanks for the message, have a nice day" and then hang up?

I don't usually answer the phone, but if the ID Box says unavailable, and I know its a creepy telemarketer I answer with "why are you so unavailable?" If they ignore that and keep talking I tell them, now I'm unavailable too, and I hang up.

Ever since adding my phone number to the national do not call list I get like zero telemarketers. It is so easy to add yourself to the list. It might take a couple of months to sink in to the system but after that you are telemarketer free!

I almost always answer the phone unless I am sure I know who is calling (I do not have caller ID)and I do not want to talk to them because I know that what they want is something really stupid that I do not need to assist them with.
Sometimes I have been known to answer the phone by saying "Ajax Mortuary".
On a side note dizzybizzy, I was wondering if there is anything wrong with you R key?

"Ajax Mortuary", I bet that gets some good responses.
Its not my "r" key more than my fingers. For some reason, my finger really doesnt like that "r" key.

when i see friends' names on caller ID, i answer "yellow" (my way of making fun with "hello"), and they usually answer with their fave color like "blue here" or "red". since i've started this, it just became our "codes", hehe.
with business contacts, i go by the book (no fun).

Heres one for your answering machine...
"Hello, this is purple, leave your green after the beep."

Of course, the "Hello" in that should be "Yellow", sorry.

What a lame response. I think people that dont put any thought into anything are very boring. Please stay out of my posts if thats all you can do.

I usually just say hello or actually halló (the Icelandic version). But I do get a bit mean when I realise someone has dialled the wrong number.
When they ask for someone who doesn't live here I either say they went to the movie or tell them they got offered a job at a big ship and are sailing somewhere far away. That usually gets a sound of a shock from the caller but then I usually start laughing and tell them they got the wrong number.
My cousin used to answer the phone with new jokes every day, he would answer like you were calling a prison, a mental hospital or just the name of some companies.
