I was at Starbucks today and noticed the fellow next to me desperately hunting and pecking on his laptop. I have been typing for years so don't think too much about it anymore. I type fast. Evidently he also noticed that I was typing along at a good clip and asked me how I had learned to type so fast. Turns out he's been Hunting and Pecking with just 2 fingers for over a year! I told him that I had learned way back in high school and since I work on a pc everyday, I got fast. How about you, do you type fast or more Hunt and Peck??

Well.. I'm some way between the both but mostly on the hunt and peck side. Apparently my fingers are not really that keen on the spot of the alphabets. No matter how hard I try my fingers just wouldn't cooperate. After so many years of computer gaming my fingers are still waiting for my eyes to do the looking before they are willing to punch the buttons.. sheesh.. :(

No, I am quite quick, not hunt and peck. The last time it was checked was about 11 years ago and I averaged 60 words per minute. I am probably faster now, although I tend only to use one finger on my right hand, two on my left.

I also type fast. I guess since I have been typing for about 25 years I had better be a fast typer. I also started back in high school.

I'm like you I too learned back in High School. I'm so grateful that I learned this back then. It has allowed me to work for both an enginnering firm and a hospital. I love to type and I love the speed and not having to look at the keys. Its one of my happiest accomplishments in life. Being able to type fast and write when the mood strikes me, I love it.

i used to hunt and peck.i was never taught how to type.but thanks to my lot.now though i am not speedy but i do not need to hunt and peck the letters. actually at first i was not social and did not like to chat.but once i thought that chating will improve my speed and also work upon my conversation skills. i am looking forward to acquire the speed upto 20 to 25 words per minute in next one month through my lot.

I consider myself as a FULL speed typist. I learned typing since I was in the 3rd Grade using the manual typewriters. Now, I am averaging at least 85 words per minute. I also used to work in a call center environment so we are really trained to type as fast as we can.

I type fast, and I really worked hard on it before I get this good at typing. LOL. Sometimes, when I don't really have anything to do, I try to just type anything in a notepad, and just try to remember the letters and feel the keyboard.. I was doing that for a couple of months, and now I'm really good at it.

Wow if that guy had been doing that for a year now then that is just terrible - I would have gone crazy! I am not the best typer out there but I am still pretty fast at typing! I am definitely faster then some of my friends and family are. I really do think sites like Mylot and others have helped me be a better typer! Happy Mylotting!

I'm a fast typer myself, but I know a lot of Hunt and Peck types as well, and they just kinda refuse to use all their fingers for some reason, it's like they don't want to even try. Been typing on a computer since I was about 7 maybe, so yeah I'm assuming lots and lots of practice got me where I am today (never done a words-per-minute test, but heck I'm not competing here, just trying to write what I want to write, and fast :D)

I am a pretty decent typer, I learned how to properly type a few years back, but the problem is that I don't look at the keyboard so, I type at a reasonable pace and then end up making mistakes. By the time I have checked back over my spelling I have probably spent as long as some hunt and peck typers. Though it just depends on how tired I am in regards to mistakes.

before i would type using only one finger per hand,. and as it goes on i trained to type using home keys to type properly and effectively, but i already built a habit of not following the home keys effectively so i think i am typist who incorporate some Orthodox typing with a twist of my own style./

I hunt and peck and have done so for as long as I can remember. But I am actually very fast. I always tell myself I will take typing classes but never do. Do they even have typing classes anymore? I would like to work on my accuracy so I guess I have to take classes eventually.

he has been typing for a year and still have not tried to learn how to type properly with 10 fingers and not just two fingers. and i think that no one can learn how to type using two fingers only. i guess that person is not really using the laptop a lot. maybe just few minutes or less than an hour a day. and would not typing seriously and just contented tying using two fingers. and i can't understand why the person can't figure out why he or she hasn't learned how to type that fast yet. or maybe that person is just not telling the truth and has not been using the laptop for a year or just exaggerating when he or she said that she has been typing for a year . maybe it was just a month or so. when i was new in typing i of course read some tutorial using some diskette back then. there is no internet back them available in public. internet was not heard of by that time yet when i started learning how to type i type back in 1992. wow . though i learned the basics of typing back then only in 2007 did i take it seriously. only in 2007 i developed my typing speed but i know for a long time how to type using my 10 fingers and not just two fingers.

I guess i'm a speedy typist. I type between 25 to thirty words per minute. I'm using a cellphone right now so it's different. Lol.

I think many people that never use computer or type writer before will most properbly type slow and they will never be able to type fast. Unless they go and attend some typing course. I myself consider a good typiest since I can type without looking at the keyboard. And I can just type as I like..

i used to do the hunting and pecking but during my college days, since im always making our reports in the pc, i got used to typing fast... and after working in a call center, i learned to type faster....hahaha.. but i guess there's nothing wrong with the hunting and pecking, just that its time consuming.. and my mom usually does that.
