Do you buy pre-cut veggies or fruits?

I'm just wondering if you buy pre-cut veggies and fruits in the market is it still fresh? Does it still contain all the vitamins and the likes? I think though that it is very convenient. Like if you buy pre-cut veggies all you need to do is wash it and cook it or if you buy pre-cut and sometimes pre-sliced fruit all you need to do is serve it. I think it's also economical cause if your the only one eating, your not going to buy the whole watermelon. What do you guys think?

hi, i am also buying pre-cut vegetables and fruits from the grocery since it is very convenient and economical. I think they are still nutritious since it is fresh still. Of course you don't buy those fruits and veggies that have discolored already you choose the fresh looking ones.

I guess there are really advantages to buying the pre cut vegetable or fruit. I do buy that way sometimes to save me time and effort from peeling and cutting. I just make sure I eat it right away so it doesn't get rotten. Because it will be exposed to bacteria and germs. But most of the time I just buy it and peel and cut it myself.

Some fruits and pre cut veggie contain all there vitamin and some are not. Usually i don't buy pre-cut veggie but i buy pre-cut fruit. Becuase some fruits are big and i am alone with my room mate in my room. So i can not eat whole the fruit in one time. But if i buy some small pieces of water melon then i can eat it in one time and will get fresh one.

Hi santosmarichris, I haven't bought any pre-cut vegetables before. I couldn't deny it's really convenient and easy as well to get the pre-cut vegetables as we could cook them straight away after unwrapping it. No wonder they are quite welcome by the working housewives. I consider that the uncut vegetables are more freshly. I prefer to take some trouble and extra time to prepare them myself. I like them to be washed thoroughly before the cut. They look much fresher as they are cut before the cooking. When I'm away from home either working or having vacation outside I usually would buy the pre-cut fruits. I love various types pre-cut fruits in the same whole packet. Yesterday I did enjoy eating the one whole pack of slices of mixed fruits of mango, guava, pineapple and star fruit . I got it after having lunch on the way home from the vacation. Really, watermelon is too big for me to finish. Moreover I dislike to eat the remaining melon in the fridge. After chinese new year few months back. My sis gave me a big water melon which her husband bought from his hometown. The three of us in our family couldn't finish the whole fruit for sure. I shared the half of it with my neighbor then Happy posting

The problem with pre-cut veggies is that as soon as you peel or cut a vegetable, it starts losing its nutrients. So No I never buy anything precut.

Sometimes there is this package that would make a complete dish. And all you need to do is to fry them. It may be a little expensive but not really that much. It simplifies things somehow and more economical than buying things you end up not using them. Yes if it's still fresh why not? I do buy pre-cut veggies or fruits sometimes.

Hello there! Yes i buy pre-cut veggies and fruits in the grocery store because its much affordable and practical for me. I like to eat not just one kind of fruits so it would cost me a lot if i buy all of those in whole so i resort to buying mixed pre-cut fruits instead. Moreover, it would be so many of them if i buy them all in whole or in kilos so it would be wiser to spend a few bucks and get them all in variety. I think its fresh because they peel and packed them right through your very eyes. That's my view with regards to veggies too. Have a nice day!

I don't like them pre-cut ..I want them fresh...as from the plant... there are chances of using deodorants and other chemicals by the stores..and its not good.. thanks for starting the discussion.. have a great day/night.....

i do buy this kind of fruits..never bought any such veggies before but some fruits like watermelon and honey dew is better in such way..because we can;t exactly know whether the fruit will be sweet or it is just the colour that attract us to buy it..yup,the economical part is soo true become some people just want to consume a small portion of fruits that only for them,so what;s the use to buy the whole thing if we just want to eat few slices right?

I think they should be fine, unless they have been there for several weeks or something, but there should be a packing date or something similar on it, so you can check that. It is much more expensive than buying fresh veggies and fruit though, so I don't really buy these things!

I like to buy fresh fruits ans vegetables. i don't like precut fruit and veggie selections. i like to cut up my own fruits and vegetables. You get more for your money when you do it yourself.

Fruits and Vegetables is good for health - Eating fruits and vegetables is good for health
I sometime buy pre cut fruits if i am eating outside stalls,if it is still fresh.Long term it is cheaper to buy the fruits at keep at freezer eat when your want.I only buy because certain fruits i don store at home like whole watermelon,or honeydew or pineappple and such,so just buy like 1 slice to eat with lunch. But that is seldom also since i don eat out much. For vegetable i buy whole in supermarket and keep in freeze.Certain green vege we wrap in newspaper to last longer.while cucumber cabbage no need since they can last longer.

I buy pre-cut fruits sometimes, but I check the color to make sure that it's still fresh. I usually buy those when I only need a little amount, since buying a big one would be a waste.

I always have this idea that cut fruits are not so fresh, they might have been spoilt and the rotten parts cut away so they can still sell the rest of it. I would usually avoid it unless the fruits were cut in front of my eyes. Just my two cents' worth.

Although they are pretty expensive, pre-cut fruits and veggies are still fresh at the market. They don't lose any vitamins when they sell them like that. Just make sure that you wash the fruits and veggies throughly after you get them. The ideal thing would be just to get normal normal fruits and veggies (not cut up) since they saves a lot of money and doesn't take a great amount of time to do.
