What brand cat food do you feed your kitten(s)?

Oreo - This is a photo of our new kitten named Oreo. In this picture he was only 6 weeks old. We rescued him from outside where his mom, who is a stray, had a litter of kittens. There were a total of five. This was the only white one.

I want to feed my kitten a natural kitten food. What brand do you feed yours? I do not want to give him anything with a bunch of ingredients in it that are nothing but fillers or that I can't even pronounce. Thanks in advance! See a photo of my new kitten below. His name is Oreo & he is sooo adorable!

Doesn't look like an Oreo. :D I get a mix of natural cat foods and brand name cat food. They mostly prefer the brand name stuff. My Oreo is black and white and very mellow...

New bed - Our little kitten, Oreo, checking out his new bed. Actually, it is a basket! Everything else was too big, so this is his bed for new until he grows out of it. He is now 9 weeks old and still fits in it but I think we will have to buy him a real cat bed soon for him to sleep in.
He doesn't look like an "Oreo" in that picture but here is another one below. He has a darker tail and ears. We just thought that name fit him.

I feed my cats Purina One, I would rather feed them other foods, but I just can't afford to feed all the cats I've got the kind of foods I would like. But Oreo is a beautiful kitten, I bet he grows up to be a really handsome fellow with his Siamese points!

Well, of all the brands that were recalled in the recent recalls, it wasn't one of them, so it isn't one of the bad ones. at the moment - 28 - and I'm full (tho down 2)

Purina One must be good though. How many cats do you have? I'd love to have more but apartment life doesn't work well with multiple pets. We already have one miniature schnauzer, named Sunshine & an adult cat, Shady. Now we have Oreo too so it's getting pretty crowded.

It took me awhile to put two and two together. Your my facebook friend. Oreo is such a cute little thing. I don't have cats, but I have dogs. I know a lot of dog food companies also make cat food. I have been doing a lot of ingredient reading on the dog food, with my basset having allergies. It's hard to find a brand that doesn't contain corn, or animal bi-products. That also contain rice and lamb, which is needed for her joints. I think the best place to look for food that doesn't contain fillers is at the pet stores. They have so many different brands. Petco has a brand called Halo, Blue Buffalo and Hills Science Diet. http://www.bluebuff.com/sample/true-blue-results-cat.php - You can get a coupon for 3 dollars off of Blue Buffalo cat food.

I have been feeding mine Iams lamb and rice, because my vet said it would be good for her joints. Now that she's older, I have switched to Purina with lamb and rice. I have been switching between dog foods that has the lamb and rice. So far she's been on four different types of dog foods since she was 6 weeks old. So far, the Purina has been working. See you on facebook as well.

Thanks chertsy! I requested a coupon for the Blue Buffalo cat food. Not sure if I'll switch yet but at least I'll have the coupon if I change my mind. It looks like a really good brand. What are you feeding your dog now? See you on facebook!

I don't have a cat now but when we had our own home I had a gorgeous black cat and we found the best natural catfood at a feed and seed store in Phoenix for farmers, they had natural food for cats and dogs. the cat really loved it too. so it must have had some things in it that cats really did need. She looked really healthy too.Your Oreo is really so' cute, and so asleep, I always loved the way kittens justnatrually relax when they sleep. and often wished I could relax like that when i need to sleep. lol lol lol.

Me too Hatley!! Wish I could sleep so soundly. I don't know where my kitten is right now. I think he is under our couch sleeping. I better check soon. I don't like not knowing where he is for too long. I never thought of looking for pet food at a feed and seed. I will have to check that out around our area. Not sure where one is but I am sure there are some around here. Thanks!

We used to get VETS. You can't get it anymore! I get Meow Mix and add alittle liquid to it. I can't see the picture on my email but I know how cute little kittens can be. Evaporated milk with water is a nice treat for them too. I have had cats in my life for nearly sixty years.

I'm sure Iams is very good. I am trying to get more natural foods myself so I figured I should do the same for my pets. I started Oreo out on something called Natural Choice but he seems to be allergic to it because he was sneezing an awful lot. I then switched him to what my cat is on, which is called By Nature and he is barely sneezing at all now. The By Nature brand has a lot of all natural ingredients, like real chicken, barley, oats, fish meal and oil, flaxseed, etc. and it has no corn, wheat or soy. What is your kitty's name?

I like Nine Lives for the cats and kittens. It is really good to help build them up when they need to gain weight or get healthier. Even the vets told me to use this for my ferret when she was sick and lost some weight. I was told to put some in with her regular food. I have gotten lost and cat with now home that were very poor in health and used this food. It helped to bring them to good health quickly.

Yes, you are right. They also recommend Purina one for cats and dogs as being a good food. It does not have all the sugar in it that some foods do. May I suggest that any foods you get for your pets that you read the recommendations on how much to give in a feeding daily, because each one is different depending on how much actual real food is in them.

9 Lives is good cat and kitten food too, very popular brand and reasonably priced too. That is good that your vet recommended it too. At least you know that it must be good in order for him/her to think enough of it to tell you. Usually vets will only recommend the most expensive brands.

We are loving our little kitten. He makes me smile constantly with how cute he is and all the funny things he does every day. We were struggling with picking a name for him. We thought of all different names but none of them seemed to fit. When we were at his first vet appointment we were talking about it again while waiting in the waiting room and I overheard a lady checking out at the desk and she mentioned her dog's name was Oreo. I said to my son and my husband, how about "Oreo"? They liked it too so we decided to give him that name. He is such a sweetheart.

Currently, my little darling stuffs her face with Solid Gold. I did have her on Wellness, but she seemed not to be fond of that. She's currently on adult food, since she's technically now past the kitten stage (but still has that kitten brain!). However, Solid Gold does have kitten food out.

Oreo is so cute!!! I have two cats and one I rescued from a shelter as a kitten. At the shelter they advised me to feed them only good quality biscuits such as Science Diet or the much less expensive Purina Supercoat. I have been using the latter because having a dog as well it can get expensive. My cats are very happy and healthy!

That is a good idea to put a little away each payday for pet care emergencies. That isn't fair that the pet insurance is only until they turn 10 years old. I will have to check the one I have for my cat & dog because they both just turned seven.

We have been offered pet insurance but only until the animals turn ten which is not very useful because it is when they get older that they are bound to need medical care! I save a little each payday for animal emergencies...

We just got a new kitten about two weeks ago as well. And, we took her for her first visit to the vet this week. Of course, I'm pretty fresh with having kittens so I really didn't know what to feed her. So, my vet recommended Purina Kitten Chow. I'm not sure how natural it is at all, but Buttercup really seems to like it so far and she is growing and that is the important things for me. She was the runt of her litter and is still very small.

Since we are in Germany, for my 3 kittens, i switch between Royal Canin(british shorthair 34) & Sanebelle (skin&hair) for dry food. For canned foods i feed them Animonda & Bozita. Plus there is the Vitamins & the Soft malt ...and cat grass.

I've heard of the Royal Canin but not the others, probably because you are in Germany. My son is taking German as a language in high school. He will start 3rd year German when school starts up again in September. He is doing really well learning the language. I do not know where he gets those skills, definitely not from me! LoL!

Your son is taking the German language? CooL!! Younger people can easily learn skills. I am sure he can use it someday...who knows - maybe in a nice paying job... I had a hard time with the way sentences are made, it is the other way around with English. The tenses and der, die, das are my forever mix ups. lol

Yes he is taking German. In high school all the kids have to take a foreign language. I am so proud of how well he is doing. He really likes History classes too, especially about German history so I think he is very interested in your culture and hoping to visit Germany some day.

9 Lives seems to be the next most popular brand next to Purina. At least that is what it seems like from the responses I have received so far. I have not been on myLot for a long time. My mom was very ill since August and then she passed away at the end of April. So, I am just now beginning to work the programs I used to again. Good hearing from you too snowqueen. Jill

4 kitties... wow, you're lucky! I don't think I could handle that many at the moment though with living in an apartment. I'd definitely need more space. Right now, we have one miniature schnauzer, one cat & one kitten. I guess that is enough for now! lol I'm sure the Purina Indoor cat food is very good. Purina is a very well known and popular brand.

I have two cats and they are already very old. The oldest one is at least 18 years old. Their brand cat food is Whiskas. It seems it is the most popular brand here. My cats like it and I think they are healthy. My dad often says if without Whiskas, perhaps my cats can't live for so long time. At least right now they are still alive and my oldest cats lost some teeth already. I love China

I know of two that people use are called Natural Choice and Nutro. You could always check with your vet to get some ideas of what brands to pick. When we got our puppy she wouldn't go near the all natural stuff so she eats Purina Beneful.

My dog likes Purina Beneful too but unfortunately he has to eat a special diet because he developed bladder stones about 2 years ago and had to have them surgically removed. Now he has to eat a prescription diet especially for urinary problems.

I have never heard of Dads cat food before. I will have to look for it in the store next time I go. Is there a particular store you buy it at? I have been feeding mine Natural Choice but he was sneezing a lot so now I've switched over to what my older cat has been eating lately. It is called By Nature but I just bought the kitten formula today because the one my other cat eats is for adult cats.

My first choice is Meow Mix, second is Whiskas. If I am desparate and have no money I will buy Dads, which is $1 cheaper and not as nourishing. Still, it is something to eat.
