Although reading news posted on the internet would be the most convenient thing to do, I can't help but notice that most people still prefer to buy daily newspapers to keep them updated on current events. I mean, I am referring to people who owns computers and have convenient access to the internet. What's in the newspapers that they can't find on the internet?

I like to browse the newspapers for local activities and talks that would not be in the net. Other times it's not because of the newspapers having more content, it's because newspapers can be brought everywhere, into trains and even toilets, so it's more for convenience.

Internet news is more regularly updated. Most newspapers only print once a day. Internet news has a wider range of sources especially good for doing assignment or research. Many newspaper have their own sites, where we can read the newspaper and get more up to date news. Through the internet , we can access a wide range of news-paper, national and international news, which isn't as simple as do through buying those newspaper.

In my case, one word: comfort.
One simply cannot curl up on a couch--not even with a lap-top--as easily or as comfortably as one can with printed matter. This is the same reason I prefer off-comp games & fiction.
I tire easily (several handicaps deplete my strength & stamina). If I had to sit in a chair for the same amount of time, my patoot would go numb & fall off!

The one thing offered by newspapers that the Internet doesn't duplicate is the comforting feel of newspaper. The turning through the pages and hearing the gentle rustle when Mama reads, the abrupt rush of Papa turning the pages and the glee in a child's face when he is handed the real comics section.
I can't bring myself to buy the computerized books because I enjoy holding them, clinging tightly when I reach a scarey or fascinating part that drives me through the rest of the story.
It's that wonderful feel that the hard computer will never have.

I do read the news online but I still much prefer to turn the pages of a real newspaper. Because when I'm online to read the news, I have to wait for the pages to load and if the page is full of images and videos, it takes forever to load and the pages are sometimes not sequential as in a real newspaper.
It's not what I cannot find but rather the habit of feeling the pages of the newspaper which makes me always go back to the old-fashioned way of reading news.

I still like the experience of reading the newspaper, turning the pages and going through all the classifieds, etc. My favorite way to do this is to go to the library, which is a beautiful space to sit and relax. I then can read newspapers, and magazines, and move my body in a different way than I do when I am on the computer. It is a relaxing thing to do to read it directly.

I would still go for the newspaper because I read when I am having breakfast, when I am making big business or when I am on the bus. It would be inconvenient to go online to read the news. It is the convenience of having the newspaper anytime anywhere you want it. This is not possible on the internet.

I get the newspapers on the weekend for the TV guide. All my news I get on the internet.

News can be found everywhere thanks to the internet. I still like to read the daily newspaper each day myself. I like to keep up on the local news in my community. I also like to read the letters to the editor and special features. You can learn something new everyday just by a glance at the daily newspaper.

I read news in the Internet, but I still prefer to read newspapers daily because it is much more convenient than reading in the internet. Also, I am Journalism graduate, so I am every used to reading everything from the newspapers. Also, it is so relaxing reading the newspaper while eating breakfast. Nothing beats the old-style :)

I think reading newspapers its more for the people that travel alot, I don't see many people buying the paper and reading it at home, I for one read it only when Im on the Subway or on the Bus, at home I prefer online.

It's all about personal habits. Some people may prefer to read newspapers to keep up with the latest news, though they have convenient access to the internet. Internet does make it much more convenient and fast for people to get the information they need, but we can't expect everyone to make use of the internet the same way as most people do.

I think it's more relaxing kicking back reading the paper. Lots of people who take the train or bus to work read the paper, and I think the paper is more detailed than reading on line.

Haha...You cannot expect your grandmother or your grandfather to read the news over the internet... It is much convenient for us in our age (as young as 10 or 12 years old up to 45 or 50 years old).
It is not only on the newspapers that they can't find on the internet... Its also the person who reads that matters too...

Welcome to mylot rose. My hubby needs the newspaper as he spends more than 30 minutes in the toilet. Honestly speaking we can't take a laptop to the toilet so big advantage. He feels incomplete if he has not read the newspaper and keeps pesering me to read also but I am not the reading type and hate to keeping hearing the news.

I think reading the daily newspapers is the best and easy way to improve our knowledge ... now a days we can't live with our knowing what is happening our side regularly ... we all need to be aware about the current things now... then only we can have a good day.....
