"why was it deleted? I just wanted to share my 10000 points?"

Hi I do feel so sorry to some extent when someone really is rejoicing over having made five hundred or one thouand points or ten thousand points, but
yet how come people will not read the rules about this goal post business?
Do they not understand that anything deleted will not pay them one red
cent? Is there any way to make the new comers realize that its only to
'their advantage to read all the information my lot puts out? I know'
maybe its like beating a dead horse trying to get it to its feet but
I think there must be a way to make the information more attractive.
Your take on this?

I too came across this situation...one night i saw that i had completed 1000 discussions and next morning i saw that it showed 998, two were deleted. But I thought there should have been a reason for this and just went on continuing with it.
When i was reading your discussion....the first thing i noticed was the discussion number. I was shocked. I have just been on here for a month and a half. I was imagining how much time you have spent to complete so many discussions....and still going on. Thats simply amazing...all the best to you.

hi edwardjoy that was only because I was forceably resigned from the library where I had worked for 23 years. I had all the time in the world, no job, no every other week pay check. so I founr mylot just by accident, signed up, found I was having tosns of fun, and making some real friendships. earning and learning, and enjoying my days again. So I have been here for three years, plus the 11 months when my private life was shot all to hell.lol

I don't know Hatley, unless we sic Mykl on them... Seriously he does explain of the guidelines in a simple way, with all those bold words how can you NOT understand???
Oh I got an idea!!!! Before anyone is allowed to sign up, they have type the guidelines down..They can do this by mylot providing all the rules on a page that you can't copy and paste, (Some sites have them, you can't copy and paste some of their site) So they type up the rules and send it to mylot where their profile can be confirmed..Then, if they break the rules, they are shut out of mylot until they again, type up the rules and send to mylot..
I wonder if that is even possible? Of course that means everyone takes a change of getting their page shut down, but isn't it worth it to stop all these bad posts???

Sooooo, is this going to be a suggestion to mylot next???
I know what you mean hatley, and sometimes I dummy out and reply not thinking that "Hey, this is probably going to get deleted" So if we can control them better by making them work at following the rules, then you and I won't loss out, at least not as much...

hi carmelanirel think thats a great idea andyes it would be worth it
if it would stop the deleted posts, and me losing earnings cause I am
dumb enough to care and try to help, only just to lose my own earnings.
I like to type myself and am getting faster at it if only I would not
hit the wrong keys. Yes MyKl__J has made a lot of great discussions on the rules yet somehow they keep coming up with the goal posts. I know its human enough to want to brag but still its a no no.

Hi Sweetie
No matter how much they get told they will still do it well most of them anyway
You could put it in big Letters across their Screen they will still post it and hope they will get away with it and that is with any of the rules, they will try it over and over

hi gabs how are you and Gissi, better I hope. yes you are so right
and just now I remembered my dad, the town doctor, who disliked road
signs telling him to detour or road closed. He was one of the most
stubborn men I know so we were on a family vacation and driving through
Nevada. He completely ignored this sign Detour and drove right on past, and wham the bridge was out and our car was stuck on an outcrppping of bedrock. He could not move it. So he had to get back up on the real road, flagg down a motorist and get to the nearest service station with a tow truck. This cost him a ton of money as the car had to be winched off the outcropping then lifted to solid ground. Meantime we all got to ride in this tow truck . He had to pay for a small crane's use plus the tow truck plus damage to the undercarriage of our car. lol lol ;lol.

I do not know what to say. I think they bring bad habits with them from other sites and they assume that the same game plan works here as well. If they get burnt often enough, maybe they will learn. Or they will need to find another, more subtle way of sharing. Like, "I have done this and that and the other thing but for all of my 10,000 points I have earned it had to be the first 1000 that made me the most proud. what have you been proud of on this site?" Silly, I am sure, but I bet it would have stayed up.

hi gardengerty you know there are ways to work food into a discussion without actually making a recipe, so I guess you could sort of brag
about a milestone if it was buried in the discussion some way. I just
never cared that much about my own as you do not actually make anything extra for the goals and your rep you do, I just wish mine would move up so I could have a blue star for even a few weeks. lol.

hatley, most of us don't read the terms. So it's quite common that people are not aware of the rules. They will learn from experience like deletion of discussion.
You are a rare member who reads the rules perfectly,

Let us think practically Hatley. Most of the members join too many sites. They never are sure which site is legit and which one is scam. They are used to think most of the sites are scam. So when they join a site they simply join without reading terms. But when there is a need they learn and understand the rules, this is my opinion..

hi vijayanths yes I am sure that is a factor too but still why not do as one does in geting something unassembled., surely they would not throw the instructions and just put it together any old way or would
they? the thing is too manycome here, do not learn any of the rules, get all their discussions deleted , make no money and leave saying Mylot is a scam,. I have seen some websites run by some of these newbies who never even trie d to read the info and they are saying mylot does not pay and is a scam. This really is not true and does a discredit to mylot.

hi vijayanths but why not read them, just as you would read instructions to a new piece of electronic equipment so you would not damage it. I think there are a number of older peole here who do read the rules.
why is it not possible to read them? all a lot of them learn from experience is that they made no money so they quit and say mylot is a scam. I am not perfect at all, I am just another user here who likes to follow directions and use common sense. surely people read the road signs that say detour or do not enter, or do they just go ahead and plow right through the construction and get their cars smashed up?

I think there are different ways of taking the guidlelines and some just don't understand fully what they are telling us. Some folks need to read them several times until they fully understand them. That would save alot of time and bad feelings and then their postings wouldn't be deleted.

Hatley I have no idea why your discussion was deleted. It would help if the new people coming in would read the by laws of My Lot so that they don't write anything that would get discussions deleted.
They do not realize that when one person writes something they should not then the whole discussion may get deleted and no one that wrote on it gets a penny, not even them!

Hatley I think that you have done more than your fair share of helping out, guiding and advising and maybe it is time to just do your own thing and let them get on with it if that is what they want.
I have been through all the responses and comments and drawn a conclusion, especially after the phrase that I saw above - a brick wall will always be a brick wall.
It won't be easy but I think that a 'vacation' of a month or so just avoiding those topics and letting them get on with it might do some of us a power of good. What say? Shall we think of number one for a while and see what is going on elsewhere here?

hi diana I think so too as I am lagging so far this month. some of it due to off line stuff of course and having to get new glasses too. I really do need to prop up my own earnings too. and getting four or five notifications that I lost my response is not all that much fun either.
Brick walls will indeed be brick walls. I have one in my genealogy
search for the parents of my 3ggg grandfather Thomas C Richey, so am
beginning to think he was left under a toad stool or in a cabbage
leaf. but these kind of stone walls are fun to try to break through.

My friend, recently ive had a post be deleted because of the discussiobn that was started got deleted.
Example #1
This is a notification from myLot.
Your answer has been deleted because the question it was under was deleted.
Original Question Title: What is your favourite Pizza toppings???
Thank you for using myLot!
Example #2
This is a notification from myLot.
Your answer has been deleted because the question it was under was deleted.
Original Question Title: Do you eat breakfast?
Thank you for using myLot!
BOTH are questions that had been asked before. And i have posted to. Neither has been deleated before. I personally can not see any reason why they were deleated. In fact i would not be surprized if now this post will also be deleated.

because those subjects have been used over and over and because mylot admins have warned us that since we asked to have tighter rules they are 'giving us tighter rules, in other words they were very lax for a long time and we had tons of boring whats your favorite pizza topping and do you eat breakfast as this is a yes or not guestion look go read the questions and answers it is all there and also when we find those that missed being deleted we are to report them to mylot by hitting the exclamation button. read the questions and answers as they tell you why things are deleted. trust me I have read them.

Hatley, I would like to add to your response - 'and learn from it'.
@jdyrj, read the discussion guidelines. There are lots of my responses that got deleted too, because the discussion itself has been deleted. I know they were going to be deleted because they break the rules. And I still respond because I am trying to help the member who started the discussion.

sometimes people learn the hard way. i won't take it against anyone whose post gets deleted every now and then. I'm sure everyone here must have gone through the rules at one time or another but we have realize that those are a lot of rules and some of it if not most of it slips our mind. even those who are familiar with the rules are are not exempted from this because there are those who posted in a discussion that they thought are not against the rules and later realize that it is once they receive the notification that the discussion they posted on got deleted. As long as no one gets suspended from posting discussions that are against the rules, people will not take it seriously.

ybong007 no risks except they ared wasting their time a d they willnogt get paid and the more arrogantg they are the more they just might get barred from mylot. mylot admins will only stand do much of that kind of breaking the rules.the only reason they are not aware is that they are too lazy or too dumb or too just thumbing their noses at authority to give a darn but they will be the first to yeel mylot isw a scam it didnot pay me. well now if they had read the blased rules they would know they had broken them. why come here if the do not intend to follow the guidelines and make good discussions? they cannot make money on deleted crap.l

compared to driving, there are no risks involved in posting discussions against the rules. except for the deletion of the post. that's why a lot disregard it. So far these are the reasons why people here post discussions that violate against the rules. one - they are not aware. two - they are aware but they think they can get away with it. three - they are aware but they knew that admin will not delete it right away and they have a chance to post their referral link or anything that are against the TOS . BTW, you're not old enough...it's just the sugar levels . I guess every now and then each of us needs a pat in the back, but we really can't deny that people mistake such action as either a pat or a shove. To me it's the former. Just keep in caring... Cheers and keep those sugar levels down.

Most of us didn't read the guidelines. For some veteran member who has posted 10,000 perhaps, they have read the guidelines but they forget and slip to make a mistake by posted 10,000 celebration. Whereas, they could celebrate their achievement with their friend using private message that provided by mylot. We are human and it's naturally if we make a mistake. I don't believe if member who has posted 10,000 post didn't read guidelines. That's the purpose mylot admin. They are like referee in the game.

I am really surprised that this discussion didn't get deleted. It is also against the rules to start topics about mylot, when it's a topic against mylot. But then some are still here and I don't get it. Why was this one not deleted when it's about a topic that is against the rules.
I have read the rules so many times because I forget them or I read something like this and so I want to refresh my memory and read them again. A lot of them, in my opinion, are confusing. Sometimes I have responded to a discussion that I don't think is against any rules and then it gets deleted anyways and I don't understand why.
So what I do now to stay safe is just respond to the old digests I have in my email box. I save them and since I haven't been all that active I have lots of them to do and will never run out. If the discussion was deleted it would be gone long before I got to it to respond to it. It works for me.

I have been on MyLot for a while now, however I don't always post...if you can believe that. I also haven't been on mylot in a long time. I first joined MyLot because I worked for a company that went bankrupt. My children were in school during the day, and I was bored out of my mind. I came across MyLot completed by accident and signed up. I enjoyed reading all the stuff that people discussed. Slowly I started commenting on discussions, I wasn't "in it" for the $$ but something to pass the day away. I mean lets be honest, how much cleaning can a person do each day...lol. When I first signed up I don't even think I read the rules, because I wasn't really interested in making money. After I started commenting on discussions, I did read the rules, but I honestly don't think I could remember most of them. I just started back on MyLot I believe on Thursday or Friday and two of my comments were deleted because the initial discussion was deleted. I figured I better re-read the rules.

I do care about the quality of mylot discussions which so many have insinuated is stupid or silly or what not. but I am just me and I do care. so I do not know what that makes me. Looks to me like this discussion has taken on a life of its own without me :)
I have read all there is to read on mylot and done as I thought was right but still get deleted on occasion.
I just have decided that when I got dropped to red/9 that was ok. I too like red.
I don't give my life to mylot. I have other things and sites to tend to and lately my grandsons.
so, I answer sometimes a bit hastily...........wrong it is , agreed? but we tend to do that.
Most never really read all there it to read. The rules , tho explicit to a point are still left with curved edges...........some members can get away with "chatting" as I 've been accused of by mylot and when I am certain my response was a good one, BOOM it is deleted and their's is not????
Henceforth..............why worry? Take your time , do the best you can and move on.

Since we belong to a civilized world the deletion of messages of any member has no room for a civilized world especially in this social networking site. We should remember that we are "society of law and not of men". Hence, such attitude is condemnable.
