Today there are many easy softwares to edit the digital photos. After editing it, the photos look so professional and beautiful. However, most of the time I won't edit the digital photos because I like the original versions much more. The edited photos sometimes are fake to the truth.

I do use software to edit my photos, but only to crop for size - to get rid of surrounding background that takes away from the subject of the photo. I don't "fix" the photo in any way, although I have tried the "red eye" fixes. I thought they looked way too fake, so I left the red eyes.

I use photo editor, paint and animation software to tag, crop, and animate the images. I also use windows movie maker to create clips where there are so many facilities but I will not 'touch' them and make them look artificial.

Sure I do. It is a fact of life that the images straight from digital cameras require at least basic manipulation to bring out the best in them.
That doesn't mean that they have to be altered or fake - but noise removal, sharpening, colour balance and colour correction are all common requirements for good work. And who can say that their horizons are always level and their verticals always...er...vertical? Who never has red-eye?
Get a photo as near perfect as you can in-camera, but respect your final image enough to give it the editing it deserves.

I bought a special filter for my camera and noticed my pictures were coming out clearer and more vibrant. However sometimes shooting conditions are not the best and I will edit them some in Photoshop. Most of the time I use it to correct red eyes and crop them.
I know some people do not believe in editing their photos at all. They remember using film cameras and not being able to do that anyway. However if someone developed their own photos in a darkroom, there were ways to "edit" the original photos when printing them. I remember doing this in a few of the photography classes I took in school. Some of the functions in Photoshop are very similar to these darkroom techniques.
I guess I would consider myself in the middle. Sometimes I will make some major changes in my photo in Photoshop and sometimes I will leave it alone.

I only take photos for fun so I don't really need to edit anything, but if I have to I use Photoshop. I usually just crop the pictures to remove unwanted background like people walking or sometimes I would play around with the photos for digital scrap-booking purposes. I'm still a no0b though at Photoshop or any other photo editing software. :P

I just use the uploader software of Picasa for typical editing work like cropping and color correction. It's much more convenient than loading up a full-featured photo-editing program.
For me, editing photos is necessary because I usually take shots without using the flash. I had to because it will take time to recharge the flash for the next shot. So, most of the time, I have a well-composed shot, but there's a problem with color and brightness.
Anyway, this is the benefit of having digital photos. Even when edited, you won't be able to tell if a photo was the original or not.
