Hating or Liking Filipinos....

Hello lotters. Do you hate Filipinos now that their cops had failed to save lives just because they listened to the driver with out confirming any thing? i am sure you have something to say. i won't get mad, i believe knowing why Filipinos are hated is a reason to help us improved. If you liked the Filipino, what made you say so. Because i noticed that when ever the GOvernment is being blamed, an entire nation and it's people are added to it.sad, though but i guess it will pass as time passes by. One big mistake causes our people to be part of the blame, ordinary people I mean.

Why hate all Filipinos for the shortcomings of its government? These things happens not only here in the Philippines, it just so happens that the hostages were foreigners. I understand how angry foreigners feel especially those hostages fellow citizen. I feel sorry as well, but it is not every Filipinos fault that dismissed police man hostage those Foreigners, and it is not every Filipinos fault that the Policemen, media and Government have shortcomings. It is not fair that they blame ordinary Filipinos because most of us has nothing to do with what had happened. most of us just stayed at home watching news and praying the hostage crisis will end in a peaceful way. unfortunately we, ordinary Filipino citizen do not have any control of that situation.

Welcome to mylot Laychie07! I definitely agree with you on this one that the ordinary Filipino citizen has no control of the situation and all we could do is pray that everything would end peacefully. Your earnings will reflect by 10pm - 1am tomorrow Philippine time and be sure to read the guidelines and add friends

The police had a fatal failure to rescue the hostage. And the method, time etc. doesn't make a sense. They should be responsible to it and blamed. However, I won't be mad to the Filipinos because they have nothing to do with this issue. And I believe most Filipinos are nice and kind. Now I just wonder the police in Philippines may not want to really rescue the hostage because they didn't give in to the hijacker at all, even if his demands were not so much. He was not asking for millions of dollars and a helicopter to leave. Perhaps they were afraid once this hijacker was alive and then he might speak more dirty truth about the police. And therefore, he must die, but they needed to find a good reason to kill him. So the hostage became to the sacrifice. Otherwise I can't imagine why they kept annoying to the hijacker continuously. Everything is not reasonable. I hope one day we will all know the truth.

Hello youless, It was their mistake to confirm whether the passengers were really alive or not. they shouldn't have just listened to the driver. they're assault had caused the lives of the hostages as well. i believe the cops were really trying to protect something and that's why they will do anything to justify their assult on mendoza.i hope the truth will come out one day.

It was reported that the hostage taking started at 9 or 10am. I saw the news break at 11pm then I saw it again on the bus by 2:45pm. Everything was fine then I thought things wouldn't get out of hand but I was wrong. I can understand why there are angry people. To be honest I'm really disappointed how things ended, who wouldn't. That day I was praying for the hostage to be safe. I don't know who to hate but I know our police force failed big time. Nevertheless, I'm not ashamed to be a Filipino nor I hate my fellow Filipinos. I just hope this kind of incident would never happen again not only in the Philippines but also in other countries. We all are here enjoying the equality offered by this virtual community but still we cannot escape the harsh reality that no matter how we try to live in peace together there are still stupid people amongst us that seeks to destroy that dream. I know majority of the Chinese community in the whole world are angry yet I'm still hoping that the incident doesn't destroy the relations between China and the Philippines. If only an apology would sort all the problems I would be the one apologizing in behalf of the Philippines. I'm sorry that things didn't end peacefully in that incident. For those pictures circulating in the internet where Filipinos are taking pictures and posing in the crime scene with all smiles, I apologize for they are stupid and insensitive. I know for a fact that all countries have this kind of people but I don't want to be the one to judge them. Again as a Filipino I apologize for how our police force handled the situation and I hope it doesn't happen again

Sweetie, i don't judge people for others wrong doing. It's not my job to do it. Why should we hate filipinos? Did all of you had something to do with this whole mess? I don't think so. Stop worrying about it and let it lie. I will make your hair stand on end if i ever have to tell you how things are going in my country. No offense, but the philippines ain't a match to south africa when it comes to things like this. TATA.

The police messing up is no reason for people to hate an entire nation. I am sure the vast majority of users have are upset at the police but we hope they learn from their mistakes and prevent such things from happening again. I don't think anyone would blame the entire nation, thats just what you think people feel but its rather sadness as the event. Maybe now the police will get better training to handle such situations better.

I love all people: I love people because I know that God made them and loves them, and I, too, love them for their uniqueness. As per blaming an entire nation because of the acts of its government: I think that only the uninformed and narrow-minded engage in such generalization of people. One cannot be observant and not see and know that people can be very different from their government, thus making an attack on people because of the acts of its government completely unjustified.

Helo Nets, i didn't know but some how i understand it now. that these people just went rage but failed to understand that this is a isolated situation. uninformed? i don't think they wanted to know the filipinos until they decided to get to know them in a very negative way. which is sad.

There's no reason to generalize the people, it's not our fault! We didn't make any wrong to them why they consider all Filipinos are not deserve to respect because of what happened to the hostage drama in our country. I am here in other country now but if somebody point out that we are not good because we let the hostage killed by a policeman I will fight to them. We have different life and we have different responsibility. Why we shouldered others wrong doing? Better here in Middle East the treatment of Pinoy not change. Filipinos are know for being a hospitable but because of what happened to Hongkong Nationals killed the treatment of our Kababayans in Hongkong change. I am hoping that the Hongkong people will realize that not our likes that it was happened. It was an intentionanlly accident did by one person only and the person pay already what he did because he was killed also. Good for him! He was very despirate, because only of his job he loss his life? What happen now? If he didn't did that he still alive and he can still find job better than a policemen or he can do business that he can earn more not a fixed salary. He was a close minded individual, didn't think what will happened if he will failed to his plan.

Hello Julyteen, I think there is something wrong. what ever he wants to reveal, it failed. and the cops did everything to keep the what ever corruption from releasing, and that is by killing him or making him go mad in the process. and probably it was also a huge miscommunication and misunderstanding that led to this. thank you for your response. but we just have to move on.

A pleasant day to you LetranKnight, With reference to your main topic - "Hating or Liking Filipinos" - as for me - the situation that was happened is an isolated case. I think its not on our hands to judge though we have a freedom to say our comments. And as for me, it is not proper to say and comment in this way - hating or liking -. Kindly note that every individual has its own individuality and attitude. It does not mean if you hate the other you will hate all. As for the meantime, perhaps, if we can just pray all together for us to get a peace of mind in every situation that is happening.

Hello Aira, that's really neat. i like you're topic, and i agree with you. trouble is, on the heat of discussion, people were start to generalize people of my country. how could they hate an antire race when the one responsible was just one person. that's positive of you to pray for peace.

Even though I'm chinese.. I couldn't say I hate Filipinos because my friends are almost all filipinos. I mean yeah the PNP really screwed up.. What I hate though is the Philippine government.. In the first place that hostage crisis wouldn't be there if that cop did still have his privileges. I do even pity him from going good cop to bad cop. Imagine he already have a lot of medals and honors and how come he did that?

I have SOME chat friends who are from UK and USA. Whenever they realize that I am from the Philippines they will all say that they don't have money to give out. Well I felt really humiliated because they will tell me that most of the Filipinas and the other one told me that all the Filipina that he talked to would ask money from them. It is really being shameful on my part because I am a Filipino too. But anyway, I just tell them that they don't have to worry because I definitely will not ask money from them that I was just chatting with them for a clean and wholesome chat. I even joked that I am not going to ask money from them and for a change I wil give them money instead. hehehehe. As for what happened to us, the gossip will eventually die. Let us still be proud that we are Filipinos. Our nation's population is 1/4 of the United States for such a small land compared to them. We have lots of fellow Filipinos that are excelling in other countries and this will not really taint our reputation.

I think it's unfair to generalize a race because of some fortuitous event. We've had so many things in history that are far worse but we've picked up from these. Because if we get stuck with the past, on these odious situations, then we'd end up hating so many people. We'd hate the Filipinos for what happened. We'd hate the Germans for what had happened in history. The Iraqis. The Japanese. The Koreans. The Russians. What good do we get out of these, right? I hope we don't close our minds. Not all Filipinos would react the way that the police did.

the problem is the media, that will not happened if the media think about the situation rather thinking of their ratings of their station. if the media did not cover the arresting of his brother, the hostage taker will not get mad. also the government is a slow as snail to make a decision.. i am a filipino too, but this kind of government is a trash. they just sit to their office watching the video and do nothing, and the president is nowhere to be found. they cant contact the president, the hongkong government cant contact the president in the middle of this situation. what a lame.

hello extronica, I believe the government is to blame again, despite i don't want to blame anymore. the hammer was a mistake and they lack a lot of equipments too.well, it would have been impressing if Noynoy gets to handle the hostage taking in the first place, that would have been something. but it didn't. now, he's taking a lot of blame on this.

I am a Filipino and I don't think its right to blame it all on the Filipinos for what happened. I am also disappointed of how the police did their operation on the hostage taking but its not every Filipino's fault on how fellow citizens failed on rescuing tourists which happened to be from Hongkong. It just a sad event that could have been prevented if only the police were properly trained and well-armed.

LetranKnight25, Look lives were lost and to see the whole incompetent episode live on the network all over the world - what do you want people to react? Here's a poser, put yourself into the shoes of that grieving widow whose husband shielded her and is now left with 3 young children to care for. Ref: http://multimedia.asiaone.com/Multimedia/News/Story/A1Multimedia20100825-10758.html Let's be honest, a lot of people who has been to Philippines knows exactly what is actually wrong but I am sure it is not personal. However, don't expect people to take insensitive and stupid decisions of your people when people are still mad, shocked and most of all grieving for the lost in this fateful siege. People need time to get over their feelings - so let up some space and let people have a say. But, don't press and push. Ref: http://www.asiaone.com/static/multimedia/gallery/100823_hijack/

I think in my opinion, the world should not hate the Filipinos in general. It has been a common trend that if a certain nationality make a horrible act, the whole country itself is being subjected to the hating. This is common everywhere you go in this world. This act is a political one. We can't generalize something from an event that we don't know the whole story about. Also, not all Filipinos are bad. Some are but not all. I, as a Filipino feel ashame of this event because it created a mind set to everyone that we are irresponsible and bad. But I will tell you, don't judge a book by its cover. Our country may look bad to you but we adore it since this is where we came from and we will always be proud as a Filipino. The same argument can be applied to the Muslims. Due to the terrorism in the whole world where the primary culprits are the Muslims, it have been a mind set to some people that Muslims are all bad. But the truth is they are not at all. Some of them maybe but if I will be asked, there are more bad people than Muslims. I Actually adore them for their great discipline.

25 Aug 10
Hello JasperTore, Well, my stand on terrorism is still the same. they are extremist and therefore, not all muslims are terrorist. some are really blinded with their will to kill for god. but not all muslims are like that, i guess we feel what muslims been suffering since 9/11. Filipinos mostly are being blamed and it's government for this...
