I got to the library almost every week. I borrow books about different countries, documentaries, and movies from there. Do you take advantage of your library?

Hi dear, Hi do not go to the library for books. I have a library in our office and the books here are all related to tax and laws. I prefer to read news papers and periodicals over there. And also, as there is no other types of books in his library, only people who have so kind of references on books will come there and use the library. Also, there is no library facility available near to my office of residence. Few libraries like British Library, where I have to travel little more. But I don’t have a membership over there. As of my friend is working there, sometimes I used to go there to meet him. The habit of reading the books also deteriorated compared with earlier times. I was working for a University, few years back at that time, I had a great facility to read good books and selected articles. But now the time has changed and not so practical for me. Regards, Thank-s

That's cool you have a library in the office, but maybe you've read it all already. It's too bad there isn't any close by for you.

When the "Web" was literally known as the house of spiders, library was one of my favorite places. Aside from its serenity ambiance, variety of books were smiling back at me waiting to pick them up as they are ready to welcome me into their little worlds. Now that the web ceases to mean just to be a spider's house and has become related to internet surfing, my library is now the world wide web. In a second, I can find almost everything I need. :) Do I take advantage of the library? Before, yes... I did a lot of researchers with the help of the books in the library shelves. At times, I used to bring home some books from the library. Books are just so awesome company.

I like your creative writing, very fun. That's great you can enjoy the reading from the web not made by spiders. I agree that books are an awesome company too.

Sadly I don't. I am still in college and paying for fees including library usage and what not but I'm just not taking advantage of it. For very important research works, I might considering going to the library , but if not.. I just pass by it. And for the record, I do miss borrowing books . My last memory of borrowing one was way back freshman year in high school which was 8 years ago. Oh my!

Yeah I should. I think its because I can get the information I need from the internet instead of going to the library. Its easier finding information through the internet. But I guess going to libraries has an advantage as well.

Why don't you take advantage of it... if you are paying for it?

That's true, the internet is easy access. Maybe you can get that payment waivered?

I love the library. I discovered the one in my town when I was a little kid and I was addicted. I used to bring home an arm full of books to peruse through for the weekends! I don't get to get out now since I take care of my son. However, when I moved to Chicago securing a library card was one of my first adventures!

I used to visit Library almost every day, espacially when the school I went to was across the street. I read all the appealing books I got my hands on and I still have my favorites. Then came the time there weren't any interesting books to be found in the library. I was feeling kind of blank. What was I going to do with no books to read? So I thought but wait, there are books in English. I went to the bookstore and bought a book. Then my mother mentioned there being a foreign-language library. I went there next and by now I've read the interesting books there too. I still visit both libraries occasionally in hopes of happening upon a new interesting book or to loan a old favorite just for fun reading.

Foreign language library sounds like a lot of fun! I've never heard of it here in my city, but I would love to go to one if they exist.

I think it's more of an exeption. My native language is Estonian and over fence neighbor is Russia (brrh!) so in the library there were mostly Russian books, with some books in English, German, French, Finnish and Swedish thrown into the mix.

I almost said never go to public libraries, because everyday I'm running out of time at work, although I wanted to go to the library but I'm lazy because it is situated quite far from my house

I used to visit the library a lot. This was the time when I was still studying to make research and read books for reference. The internet then was not that common and so I always relied on the library for my learning aside from the usual class discussion and studies. But now that I have worked already, I barely have time to go to the library. Besides, information now is just a mouse away.

Not anymore! Once upon a time I used to visit my local library on a regular basis. I didn't visit the library in order to borrow books though! I had my Internet sessions there when I didn't have the Internet at home. I suppose libraries have their use although I guess a lot of people are doing everything online now including the reading of e books online! The library is definitely a good service although I'm not sure that libraries will remain in existence forever! We are going through hard times financially and I even read a discussion whereby someone mentioned that their local library was starting to charge a small fee in order to borrow books! Once libraries start going down this road they will definitely lose a lot of customers and they will then no longer be feasible. I remember those plastic covers that covered their books, that was quite unique about the ordinary book from the library. Andrew

Hello Andrew, Thanks for the comment. I've never heard that libraries are starting charge but as you said, it is understandable, but very unfortunate. I guess I better take advantage of it while it lasts. Thanks for the heads up.

I haven't been to our city library in several months. I've been working on a stack of books that I bought. I prefer to buy and own books rather than to visit the library. (I like it when authors and publishers get fed.) But of course I can't always afford to buy every book that I want to read, so I do visit the library on occasion. It's a great resource and I think that more people should take advantage of it.

That's true, publishers should get fed.. but I don't have the money to support them yet. If a book is really good after reading from the library, then I'd go buy a copy. Are you a publisher too?

Wow, you go to the library every week. I wish to do that too, but my time don't allow me to. FUrthermore, my textbooks are so thick that I don't even have the time to finish reading them. I do occasionally go to the library to borrow some books to read. I am an avid reader. I like to immerse myself in the story and I become in a whole new world. I know that there are alot of resources in the library that I can utilise, but I don't take the full advantage of them, which i think is a waste.

Yes, it's too bad that everybody is so busy. But maybe one day after you finish your studies and you find a good job that gives you more leisure time, you can take advantage of it then. Good luck.

In the past I didn't like going to the library because the books were old and dirty there. But few days ago we went to the library and I found the children's books are very good. And therefore I borrowed three books for my son and I hope he will enjoy reading. Reading is a good habit. He shall learn a lot from reading. It is better than learning it from TV or computer. I love China

When I'm at school I go to the library sometimes to study. It's a nice place to read because it's so quiet. Sometimes the library gets really crowded and hard to find a seat but it's still a great place to study since it's free (until a coffee house) and quiet (unlike the room I share with two girls).

I love going to the library. I often go to public library, just near our subdivision. For the information of everybody, Public libraries or public lending libraries are libraries that provide service to the general public and make at least some of their books available for borrowing, so that readers may use them at home over a period of days or weeks. Typically, libraries issue library cards to community members wishing to borrow books. Many public libraries also serve as community organizations that provide free services and events to the public, such as reading groups and toddler story time. Have a nice day everyone!

No. I don't like going to the library. I really don't know the reason why I hate the library even before when I was a student. Maybe because when I was still studying, the librarian in our school is not that friendly. All of us don't like her attitude. Students would want to buy a book instead and study at home rather than staying in the library.
