I know there are a lot of pet lovers and pet owners out there. And each of us has our own way of showing our affection to them. One could be talking to our pets like they could understand us and respond to us.
Or we could just be talking to them for different reasons. My family and I treat our pets like they are members of the family, like my dad saying..'you're older sister is going to feed you' something like that. and well, we just talk to them like talking to normal people and, well, they actually listen to us, which is amusing and amazing.
Do you talk to your pets? Are there reasons why you talk with them? ^_^

We do have pets at home although im not a pet lover. But even if i am not a pet lover i do talk to our pets. Like giving food to them, i would say 'you hungry already?' I know it's a bit weird for they won't be answering back but it's just that my family treat all our pets like family members like you do. We give them food and think if they were humans are they satisfied with this amount or kind of food..

yes I do talk to my pet cat Baby. He got his name after the lion in the earth children series that I was reading at the time I got him. I would call him Baby and it just stuck. My kids tried to give him a real name but we kept going back to baby and once we got his needles at the vet, he now has that name. He goes outside and inside so when I call his name he comes home. Also I do say stuff to him about anything really. I don't know if he really understand the words or more likely the tones of the words. I usually use a high squeaky voice when I am being affectionate, and he will roll over and purr when I do. Also if I want him to be fast and run I will use short fast speech and he will run faster. If I am mad (which is rare) I use deep tones which make him stop. He talks back to me too which is cute so I love it.

i guess, it is not only us who got used to our pets but them to us as well. we may not know if they really understand us when we talk to them but somehow they do what we want them to do and on the run we get to understand their mannerism too. it's a fun experience. ^_^

Your dog is very cute.I had a pet doy I had raised since it was born. And i think sometimes it really understood what I was saying. On hot summer day it would lie on the ground with legs stretching around and belly against floor. And it would recoginize a taxi and jump in when it got exhausted walking around the street. One time it's claw got hit by my motorbike accidentally and it chased after another famale dog several seconds after barking at me on account of pain.so cute!

I talk to my fish. I have no idea if he can hear me under water, but I like to say hi and tell him how pretty he is. And I like to tap on the glass to get his attention.

ah~ i do that, cause we also have fishes. i just talk to them when its time to feed. i also wonder about that, because i learned fish have a 3 second memory span. and i'm not too sure if what is said in Chicken Little is true - about fish hating the glass tapping we do, but it does get their attention.

I don't have a pet but I wish to have one. However my asthma doesn't allow that. There's always a cat below my house block. I don't know if it's a male or female. It's a tabby and it's friendly towards me. I always smile to it and say hi sometimes. I saw it again just 5 minutes ago. It meowed at me and went to another direction, lol. So cute of it. I think animals can understand what we're saying only that their language is different from us.

hahaha... sometimes when we talk to our pets, my mother and i would ask ourselves 'the neighbors might think we are crazy' but then the pets can understand us and it's fun. maybe their way of responding is through their actions, like cuddling and wagging their tails when we call.

Yes, I talk to them because I treat them like members of the family, like I'm telling a story to a young child. One of my cats talks to me like he's relating a story and then I translate his meow story lol. He's really adorable coz when he wants attention, he would call me 'mama', probably trying to copy my daughter. But, when I left for a few months and returned, he has completely forgotten his speech and also, seldom meows. My brother does not speak to him like I do, except when calling him for meals. My poor baby!

I talk to my dogs all the time...but not so much to the cat because she doesn't really like any of us. My dogs definitely understand a few words...like "treat" and "walk" and "outside". And, of course, "good girl" and "bad dog"! They are definitely members of the family which adds to the enjoyment of having them around.

Hi sjhaeki! I have always considered my cats as my children!
I talk to them all the time and I think they understand at
least some of what I say to them. I just know that they love
me and they know that I love them sooooo much! My cat Luna
says "Mama" really clearly! My cat Cougar (who is on
Rainbow Bridge)used to say "Ma" so when Luna was
"talking" one night I told him to say "Mama" and he did! He
is very vocal and loves to talk, even when you don't want him
too! And Star, his brother is the "loverboy cat"! He always
has to be on my lap, or next to me and has to always be touching
me! I don't know what I would do without them! Drives my bf
crazy because he is soooo not an animal person!

I have both dogs and cats as pets. I talk to them often. I'm not always sure that they understand what I'm trying to tell them, but i do it anyway. somehow my point gets across.

Hi! Yes I do, when I give them commands like come, sit, stay, go out, go pee, go pooh, quiet, easy, relax, wait and a lot more. Lol. Sometimes I don't even need to say the word just a hand command and they already know what to do. They are really smart.

I don't have pets right now since my family gave it away since we couldn't take of them when my dad fallen into the hospital. Though we always talked to our pets. My uncle haves a dog and I always talked to her. She's only a year old and I swear she is like a little kid and is very naughty sometimes. It is funny and amazing when they do understand us. We treat our pets like family members always.

Yo girl, here's two jokes from vocabulary book to entertain:
A man is having dinner in a restaurant,
waiter:are you ready to order now?
guest:have you got chicken's legs?
waiter:no sir,I always walk this way..
another one,
teacher:who can tell me when was Roma built?
tom:at night
teacher:who told you that?
tom:you said Roma wasn't built in a day...
