After being unemployed for around 3 months, finally I got a job. After searching a job for a couple of months I made up my mind to take up a job which I can get easily like a receptionist or clerk. But, with God's grace I got a job in eLearning field, which I wanted.
I was so lazy during the last 3 months taking naps during the day, getting up very late, having snacks among the meals, watching TV a lot.... I don't know how I will get adusted to the corporate culture again.
How does it feel to start working after being unemployed for sometime?

One word for that feeling! Exiting! It is really exiting and a change for the Good. Especially after that lousy feeling of free-boarding because of unemployment.

Yes, it is very exciting and I can't even believe that it really happened. I got a phone call from the company saying that I got the job, but after attending the phone call, I was unsure about it. I kept asking my husband if I really get the phone call or it was a dream. I didn't get the appointment order in hand. I am waiting for it; it will come in the mail.

Well the replies are quite interesting. By God's grace I have never been pushed to that kind of situation nor I'd like to be in that kind. Somehow we need to get a job. Else we wil be killed by our own negative thought flows

Yes, the negative thoughts will create a big problem and unless and until you have good will power and good hope, it is very difficult to come out of a frustration. I had gone through this special situation because I moved to a different country from India. So, it took me some time to get adjusted to the new place and meet new people here, build contacts, search for a job, get interviewed, and finally get one. But, the 3 months felt like a year for me.

It may be difficult to adjust at first but always keep in mind that you need a job and this is very important to you. In that way, you'll be motivated to go to work.
It isn't easy to adjust at work too so just be strong and do what you need to do.

Yes, I need a job and now I am happy that I got a job. Yes, job is important and I don't want to be sitting in home all the time. Anyway, now I am worried about or I should say concerned about the type of people at my new work place, what lunch I should take to work, what is the dress code of the new office?, and a lot of other things. But, I should be happy that I finally got a job.

I think that it's probably a lot easier than returning to work if you have been out of work for a few years! The whole process becomes a whole lot harder as you suddenly fall into this routine that you become used to. It's not impossible but I definitely think that it poses a significant challange to anyone trying to re-enter the working environment.
It sounds as though you are one of the lucky few. It's good that you have secured another job for yourself and your time out of work hasn't been that long as I guess you could say that you walking along the straight and narrow once again! Good luck. Andrew

Thank you Andrew. Yes, three months was not a long time to be unemployed, but it is one fourth of a year. Believe me, it felt like a year to me. I was browsing all job sites during the day looking for jobs and applying for jobs, but most of the people didn't give me a call or email back. Also, many of my friends and family kept asking me about the status of my job. It was very annoying. It was a difficult situation Andrew, but I am happy that I am done with that now.

It's good that u got a job again. The transition from being employed to jobless then employed again is a big change in our life. Especially when we lost our job, it seems we have lots of time of hand, not knowing what to do as we are uses to being busy at work or chatting around to colleagues. But just as we have gotten used to the period of being jobless, laziness will then creep into out life, taking advantage of it. U'r lucky u manages to get out of that habit and start working again, because alot of people will not do that. They tend to idle their time away til they got knocked out of their senses. It's about time u readjust yourself for work and be busy once again.

I didn't want to be unemployed and lazy at home. Your response says people like it when they stay out of work and be at home. I hated it a lot and I wanted to get back to work as soon as possible. I also hated it when people kept asking me about my job. I felt horrible that I didn't make any money and the money in my bank account kept decreasing.

You can make some money working with this site. As you are a new member you should know different ways that will help you to earn more money in this website. Whenever you write a response, you should write at least four lines to add to good money. Also, if you have more than four or five lines to write, then make it into a new paragraph. Also, create more discussions and comment on the responses you get for your discussions. Good luck with your job search.

I have to say, it feels strange, though good at the same time. I just recently got a job after 15 years. I've been a stay at home mom since I became pregnant with my eldest, so I hardly have any job experience as it is. Needless to say, it's a big adjustment for my family and I. However, it's a nice feeling to finally be able to help contribute to the household financially...even if it isn't much. At least it's something.
Happy mylotting!

I agree with the first response...how exciting and congrats! Don't worry, you will adjust and in a few months you will wonder how it was that you didn't go crazy while being unemployed. Watch those late nights though...especially at first. It might be hard getting used to getting up early.

Yes, I wonder and thank god that I didn't go crazy when I was unemployed for three months. I was almost in the verge of going crazy and sometimes I went kind of crazy. But, I always had the hope and thought I would find a good job in the future. The poor economic condition of the market/country added to my stress. But, now everything is over and I am so excited to start the new job.

Lucky for me after i graduated i was busy studying a major exam and then while waiting for the results I enrolled in a short course for enhancing my English and then they were the one who endorsed me to employers..luckily i got accepted right away. I never experienced being unemployed for that long. And i should say that when you start doing nothing you will really feel lazy for a long time and looking for a job will never be easy once you experienced being stuck up on a place with nothing to do but to watch tv, sleep and eat.
My bf experienced this, he was unemployed for quite a long time and he felt really really lazy looking for a job, but he never stopped looking and waiting for all those exams he took, but still no luck. And when he got his acceptance letter he said he was so happy. The first day at work he was so excited to get up and get ready for work, In fact he was a bit too early for the taxi to get them. He shared his experience to me and i too was very very happy and proud of him. It feels just like i was in his place. After the days work, he got really exhausted. I think that was because all his energy got used up since he did nothing for quite a long time. He wasn't used to working anymore that's why he felt too tired on the first day.

Thanks for sharing your experience with me. You said that looking for a job for a long time makes people lazy. That is right, but I would rather say it makes people frustrating. After looking for a job for two months, I felt that I was not qualified enough to get into a good job. Also, you know the country is not still out of the problems of recession. But, I had interviews once in a while and it gave me some hope.

This is the first time in my life I have ever been unemployed. It has been no party for me as I have been scouring daily and stressing out as I have yet to land a job. However, one thing I have learned during my 9 months off of work that I will no longer tolerate much as I know exactly what it is like to be so broke and still continue to survive, that well it is not worth the over-stressing for peanuts.
In fact this week rather than searching for a full-time job, as it has not come yet, is that I will begin looking for part-time work and maybe, just maybe that might work for me.

that is true and i will agree with you, because i already experienced it before from being unemployed of 3 and a half of month, the feeling of sleepy and always laying down in the bed is really make us strange when we have a new work.

It was year 2008 when I resigned in a managerial position. I stop working for about 1 year.
When I go back to another company, I'm not that excited, because I have to adjust from people that surrounds me.
I felt awkward because you have to deal with new boss & new staff, etc.
But, finally I still on my job until now.

It would be real tough for me. I mean being employed again for me would mean facing the traffic jams daily, cannot get my afternoon nap, less freedom in terms of time etc.
Being unemployed opens up a lot of opportunities for me. Instead of focusing my time solely on my job, I could now open my eyes big big for opportunities. Opportunities such as online earning is one of them. Before that, I only use the net for leisure. Now I could use it to make money. Isn't it great?
Being employed means selling my time to another person. Even though there is less stress in a sense that at the end of the month, I would get paid irregardless of how bad I perform at my job, I won't want to go back at being employed.
As I grow older, I keep asking myself, is this how my life in future will turn out? Must my life be so routine? Wake up early in the morning, get in jams, do the same chores at the office, come home, take dinner, watch some TV and then go to sleep? Must I continue doing this? Working for other people?
Why can't I work for myself? Why not? The best thing that turns out is I am free to do whatever thing I do whenever I want. So with this thought, I deplore the thought of getting back to be employed and it feels awful, distasteful, way out of the question. Of course, this only applies to me and I hope those who don't agree with me to let me stick my wish.

Hey ,it is wonderful that you have got a job of your choice and temperament.
You are lucky to find a suitable job that too on a foreign land. You deserved to have a break. After all you had moved to a new place and needed time to adjust and adapt accordingly.
I know that you will easily get accustomed to the new environment as it is not your first job as you had been working earlier also.
I wish you very best of luck and hope you enjoy your work.

Congratulations on the new job! A new job always gives me both thrills and fears. The first, because I don't like being out of a job, the second, because of the new environment. But, in time, you will be able to get the hang of it.
