It's not the fact that people get tattoos its why do people put their GF/BF/HUSBANDS names on themselves? I Mean I can understand a neice/nephew/parent/cousn/childs/aunt,uncles name because they will be forever in your life...i've heard of many people who wish they didnt have the GF/BF/HUBBYs name on them because of a break up or something. I just think its kind of crazy because when you go out with/marry someone else they dont want to see your exs name on you...does anybody know what i'm trying to say here lollol...I dont think this question will go over big but i'll put it anyways hahahaha

yes i know what you mean, but i think it depends on the preson your with i mean yes you can't tell the future but some times you know that there is nothing that could ripe you apart because you have been thew hell with the person and they never once lost faith in you or even wanted to leave when you told them to they stayed. i think you can put there name on you after that

I have never wanted a tatt & i sure don't want anything to remind me of a ex anything. It does seem silly that people do that but of course at the time they do they think they are madly in love & it will last forever. WRONG.

Usually very young people, younger than 25 foolishly tattoo names on themselves. At that age you truly believe in love for ever after. Sometimes in a desperate attempt to prove one's love for another a person will tattoo a name on themself.
People should learn their bodies are temples and should not be marked up.

Tattoos can have a lot of meaning to people. Tattoos are a permanent symbol. You have to be sure you want someone's name on you forever to have that kind of a tattoo.

Yes, I never really got tattoos in general to be honest with you. It might look cool when you are your teens or twenties or thirties or whatever, but really people do get old. I have seen some people with some tattoos that got them many years ago and it looks kind of absurd really when they get older. Of course, that is the problem, most people do not think how things would look past a certain time. There are some people that do not think of the future.
Which really brings up a tattoo of a significant other. That is foresight. Especially when someone does it for a person that they were barely dating. Yeah, like a break up won't happen. That person is long gone but you are stuck with that tattoo for a long time. It would be a very awkward talking point to say the very least when people notice it. What becomes what they believe is a symbol of love, will turn into a symbol of heartbreak and despair.

I know two people that tattood one anothers name on their forearm. The ended up ending very badly and both ended up covering the tattoos with other tattoos. You cant tell the names were there, but thats still extra money you have to spend for that mistake. I also know someone who believes that even if his relationship doesnt work out, that person still was so influential in his life that it is still ok to be on his body. I personally think it is dumb but I can somewhat see how someone could have this philosophy.

Just tattoo with a bunch of names?
wow...
I hold the opinion that get yourself a tattoo is a way to expressing yourself to the world.
But if engrave the name of exes on your skin is definitely not a way to show your affection or commitment to her/his. Cuz something deep down in your heart will never stay on the superficial outside of you.
so, I dont think it's a proper way to get tattooed due to this meaning.
well, everyone gets his/her style, anyway, I am the only boss of my own.
lool
good luck~

I can see your point. I would say that whoever does that should think of the consequences first. I wouldn't do it to myself and especially putting someone's name on my body. I also don't fancy to be with man who has tattoo. I prefer clean skin lol. And if I was about to become a gf of someone's new, I would refuse to be if I saw their ex-gf's name on their tattoo lol.

I would never tattoo the name of my girlfriend on my body. I know some people see it as romantic, but I don't. As for family members... I don't think I'd do that either. I like tattoos. I have a few, but I don't put names. It's a preference. I think people can do whatever they want with their bodies, but they might end up regretting it later. There's tattoo removal nowadays anyway.

I agree with your discussion. Like here in the Philippines, there are celebrities who are together but the guy put the name of his past GF in the body so i think the present girl wanted to eliminate that mark?
Their crazy because they were thinking that they will be together in the rest of their lives but the fact is, they are not already committed in a covenant like marriage or something.

Tattooing Girlfriend/Boyfriend names on themselves shows ones love towards other.
It's a modern way of expressing true love as a permanent tattoo. Which is once done, that will be part of your live forever.
If a breakup happens after that; It hurts to see his or her name on themselves. But it reminds the good time they had spent together and it's the part which you can't avoid.

Hi Jack, so if its just the tatoo that reminds you of the good times then their couldnt have been many GOOD TIMES because I would have the memories of all the fun things we did together/places we've gone..I mean you cant avoid that either right? just my thoughts!
