Generally, I just sweep through facebook and look at what's new in comments from friends and relative but I don't participate much.
But just very recently, I got a message from someone inquiring if I have a brother named Michel and if I knew about my brother's missing son. My brother had long been deceased and we had been looking for this 'missing son' for so many years. Imagine my surprise and joy when I found out that this someone was actually my missing nephew. And I actually cried when I saw my brother in him (he posted his pix in facebook).
So facebook has its plus. I wonder if there are those of you who have similar experiences with facebook.

about relatives, there is one who started chatting with me because he was curious about us having similar surnames. we found out that we actually came from the same clan, and we have the same relatives whose hometown was the same as my father's, so it was great. though we didnt get to really be close after that, it was still nice knowing we were somehow related. also two young girls who had the same last name that i have added me as their friends in fb, so it's nice. another nice thing about fb is being able to reestablish and finding my old school friends and classmates from different parts of the world, very nice indeed.

Wow thats great news. Although I haven't experienced anything like that I am also keen in looking for my relatives on facebook. My grand father came from mainland China and I really don't have any idea who my relatives are in China. If I could find some of my relatives in facebook that would really be great.

True. Finding long lost relatives gives one a euphoric feeling. I pray that you find your relatives, too. Cheer up.

hi figurativeme what a wonderful surprise and face book did this; I am new on face b ook and now all my husband's hatley clan are askingme to
be friends. why were not they being friends when I lost my husband in 1991. then they all seemed to forget his wife even existed may be they felt I was a heathen as I am Methoidst not Seventh Day Adventist. I did not feel I was a heathen just because I had a different religion than theirs. Now they want to be friends so why? I mean I was hurt when they turned their backs on me. so what has changed that they now want to be my friend. I did accept them more for my son's sake than mine.

WoW..see what facebook can really do. It's good to know that you have had contact with your missing nephew already. And you can even get to talk to him whenever you're online. Facebook really has a plus factor, we can never tell what else will it surprise the users. Goodluck on your reunion with your nephew..

Thanks, gaiza. And I do love telling him his hi-story. Somehow brings my brother back to life.
