My friend's mom just took the IELTS exam yesterday and was asked why we Filipinos are so into branded clothes. It made me ask myself as well. Why are we so fun of buying them? Are they really worth their expensive prices? Im not really a fan of these clothes, just as long as the clothes im wearing are still good, has good quality, im comfortable wearing it and i know i look good on it, then im so cool with it. I don't need to buy signature clothes to look rich and expensive..haha. How about you, are you a fan of branded clothes?

Well branded clothes are more durable and their colors don't fade right away. Im not sure if Pinoys are into branded products. I mean i see tons of imitation in divisoria and on the street and people are buying them because they're cheap. For me its good to own a branded clothing. Not that everything should be branded maybe at least 2 for special occasions. A good pair of shoes and a top or shirt or a really good pair of pants.

Yes, Pinoys are into branded clothes, i have read something about it before that we are one of the top buyers of branded clothes and products. There may be a lot of imitations in divisoria or class a stuff but it's still not the real signature clothing. Although i should say its really way too cheap and a lot can really afford to buy it. The thing here is, imitation or not, pinoys are really into branded clothes. I agree with you, we don't need to something that we wear from head to toe that is all branded, we should somehow limit ourselves as well for we know these products costs much.

You are right. Those who can afford buy branded things. I'm surprise that celebrities buy those branded bags that cost almost half a million pesos. That's almost the price of a low cost housing or a car. Even if I have the money I wont buy those bags. Its just too much

Buying branded clothes are depending on how much is our budget to buy. If you have much money then you choose expensive one. And when your budget is just enough so you only buy the other not really expensive.
But lots of people want to wear those things that are expensive.
And im one of the people who is not really on the brand but into the style and fashion.
But dont be so curious on the brand you are wearing it doesn't matter.

i agree with what you all have said but also take into consideration that once we bought an item we are looking forward that our satisfaction on its durability will be met and that is why most of us for as long as we have the money we prefered the branded one.Of course given the choice i myself will prefer to buy a branded one that suits my personality wherein i will look great

People would say it's for the quality which is right to some extent but deeper i guess it's in the sense of having something expensive and the prestige that goes with it. I'm fine not particular with any brand but i must admit that there are brands that are more durable albiet expensive meaning you get what your money is worth. A product with more value tend to be cared much more than the cheaper ones.

Branded or signature clothes are durable than cheaper one and I think that its really worth of their expensive prices, coz their color hadn't fade easily so we can used for a longer time. But for practical reason I'm not practicing on this. I buy cheaper clothes that has good quality and comfortable for me to wear it.

I totally agree with you. I don't need branded clothes, but if it is compulsary, and if I have to go to some special occasions, then I have to wear branded clothes. I prefer to wear clothes I'm comfortable with.

When I was on my teen age I looking positive to the expensive brand that my peers dress up. I felt a little jealous when I saw them wearing with the branded clothes. I questions myself why our family don't mind on the brand of the clothes we wear. It simply because we can't afford to buy it, we have limited financial status. This is the main reason why we can't buy branded clothes.
Time passed, I finished my school and immediately find a decent job. This is the time for me to level up myself. Everytime I got my salary I always buy branded clothes. My father found me buying the expensive clothes. He ask me why I waste my money to buy those stuff? He said it's not important the brand we wear, the important is how we are look on that clothes. Well, I found out that no changes still me no changes even I wear branded and expensive clothes. I can't blame myself maybe because I am influence by my peers that we need to dress branded clothes to be known.
Filipinos mentality influence by the Western country that why we always adopt on what their looks alike. Due to financial incapacity teenagers and some of the adults bought used clothes or let say U.K(Ukay ukay) Yeah most of it are branded and still not obvious that it was used already. What an annoying attitude to some of our countrymen who wants to wear branded clothes.
In my recent status now I can say that I can buy expensive and branded clothes but my mentality is different now, I felt I will loss my money if I buy expensive clothes. Although I bought sometimes branded but not my priority unlike before. I am now business minded because I manage already my own business so every cents come from my wallet matters to me. I love to see my savings than to see the clothes I bought.

We tend to prioritize things as we grow maturely. We now know which are more important and which are our needs and wants. But it's never bad when we buy expensive things for ourselves in return of our hardwork. But it's best to see the hard earned money to things which are more important. Used clothings are not good for we don't know what diseases we might get when we buy them, that is the reason why our government bans these business and discourages the buyers. Thanks for sharing :)

Brand names are not that importaunt to me, I mean sure its always nice to get a brand name item now and then if and when I can afford it, but I dont care that much as long as the clothing item looks good and its clean cost less and fits well.
With that said I've gotten several compliments on the way I dress and my general appearance and it goes to show that name brands are just that a brand, and it really doesn't mean that a person looks better because they paid more
Lastly I've seen and known many people who buy expinsive clothing and they flaunt it like its a status symbol but there broke and can barely pay there bills all because they wanted to show off, and look like a celebrity but they dont have celebrity money I'd rather shop smart and look good and still have lights, instead of shopping rich and going broke.

Exactly..great point you have here apples! There are really a lot of people who wanted to show off even if they know they are really not that rich or they don't have the money to show off that they can afford to buy expensive things. This kind of attitude is really bad and im suggesting they have to act for who and what they really are than pretend into something they are really not. Thanks for sharing :)

I think some people buy and use them as status symbol. It probably adds some level to their self-esteem. I am not one of these people. I trust in my own taste. I know how to choose items that look expensive even if they are only low-priced. It all depends on the wearer.

There are really a lot of less expensive clothes that more or less looks the same with the branded ones. When i go to the mall to window shop i usually see the clothes im seeing in a cheaper store that looks the same with the branded ones. What i do is check on the less cheaper store with the ones the same with the branded ones and check the quality if its good and if it suits me, that's the time i buy it. And you are correct, it would really depend upon how the person wears them. We can look elegant even if what we are wearing are not that expensive.

I agree with you coz we're the same. Actually I buy clothes which I think I could say it's same with branded clothes. I mean, geez. I saw some branded but when you visualize it, it's somewhat like in a low class or something like that..

I don't really care about what the brand of clothes I'm wearing..as long as I'm comfortable in it and it's agfordable. But there are some brands that I really buy because it's proven and tested- it's durability and I like the designs too.

Hi! Maybe some but not all. If I like the style, fit's me good and I can afford it, I buy it and not just because of the brand. I think what really matter is how you carry the clothes, doesn't matter if it's local or branded.

Filipinos Love branded clothes because of the fashion trend now a days. And because of the Influence of media like television, internet and others. It is also of the fact that branded clothing's signify status or because of the materials used that makes a person comfortable wearing those clothes.

I use to be when I was younger, when my friends do buy branded clothes. But when I got married, my priorities changed. I don't buy branded clothes anymore unless I get them for free. Like when relatives go home from abroad and they treat me with a shopping spree. That's the only time I get to splurge on branded clothes. But if I have to spend my own money, I'd rather use the money for my investments. I want to build wealth with the money that I have.

We really change our priorities when we get married. I am not yet married but as i can see from others that they really try to think of the needs of the entire family and sometimes forget their our own needs because the kids are the parents priority now. There are still a lot of ways to enjoy our lives with the absence of these branded stuff..

Some people go with the brand or trusted their brand choice when it comes to clothings, appliances, gadgets and etc.
It is how one person patronize and trusted a brand that they always prefer to buy those ones.
When it comes to clothes,i don't go much with branded ones.
As long as it feels comfortable to wear and is in good quality,it's fine with me.
But with undies,i have one particular brand that i used to buy and i really like their product.
Have a great weekend ahead

I think one reason would be representation of oneself. They feel confident when they wear branded stuffs. They feel good about themselves. I have mixed clothes, Branded and not branded and I just mix and match them. If I have extra money I also buy branded stuff.. a reward to myself if I did something hard.. its like a prize for a job well done.

It could be, well i too sometimes treat myself with something expensive or say clothes that cost high, signature clothes to be exact after all the hardwork i have done. But that is only rarely, i prefer to treat myself by eating in restaurants with friends and family. Im not really into fashion or branded clothes so i don't really care if i look cheap just as long as the clothes im wearing suits my personality.

For most Filipinos, branded clothes are status symbol. If you have expensive branded clothes it tells what position you have in the society. However, this is not so in all cases. In my case I really go for quality clothes since I keep my clothes for years and not only a couple of months. I love Kamiseta, Loalde and Bayo even though they're local but they have the quality of imported clothes. The rest of my clothes mostly come from Europe, USA, or KOrea.

Branded clothes are sometimes used as status symbols. I am not really into branded ones however for males like me, branded clothes has better designs that those are not. on the other hand, quality of products of branded clothes for males are far more better that those are not.Branded clothes needs not to be expensive, like those internationally acclaimed brands, local brands are also good.

Even local branded clothes are expensive..although it's much more affordable than those internationally acclaimed ones. We can see a lot of sale items on the store, just being practical. But anyways branded ones really has good quality and the materials used are really worth their prices.
