Can you eat a meal without rice for days?

There are people who had rice as part of their lifestyle that it would be shocking to find yourself one day unable to eat rice anymore. A particular example is a Filipino who goes overseas and works in a country where there is limited rice or has other type of food that provides carbohydrate. Kudos to those who sacrificed eating rice for working for their families. I, as a Filipino will definitely crave rice. If I'd be sentenced to 'no rice' for a lifetime, I'd only last a week. I love rice. Anyone else who can't live without rice?

I think rice is a good source of carbs, but a good alternative are pasta and sweet potatoes. I disagree with people saying that carbohydrates is bad or making people fat because this is complex sugar that gives most of the energy people needs to start day :D

HI, For me, I can live without rice as it is not essential to have rice in my meal. I can take noodle, vermicelli or other food apart from rice. But certain people really need rice for every meal. Like my mother in law,she need rice at least once a day. Or else, she will feel bit weird and uneasy. Maybe it has become her habit to have rice for every single meal. Actually I prefer to have other food for my meal after been eating rice since I was young.

Hi! ^^ I think I'm like you're mother in law, I can't go on without rice. But I also like noodles from time to time. I wonder, what country are you from? In your last sentence, did you mean you've got tired of rice? There are instances like that for some people but there are types of rice I'm sure you won't get tired of, like jasmine and dinorado. I kind of get tired of having brown rice before because it has a distinct taste that I sort of don't like.

Although rice is the main food here. However, it is fine for me to eat a meal without rice for days. When I lived alone, I liked to cook different things without rice. As I couldn't eat much rice, so I didn't want to cook so little portion with rice maker. It's a waste. I love China

in my meal daily,i take rice only and everyday i take rice two times. i cant live without rice. i take rice where ever i go or in any restaurent i go. if i am in other country also,i take rice,as rice is available anywhere in world. i will be also like u,when rice is not available in other country (where i go)i will die after one week or 10 days. for any one day or two days i can skip rice, and can take roti or naan(indian breads) with vegetable curries. but for daily purpose i take rice only.

As a Filipino too, I can only stand, maybe 2 or 3 days without rice...As you've said, it's already been part of my lifestyle, it's a part of me already. I eat it every single day, in every single meal. But I can live without it, but I'd crave it so much.

Rice is the staple food in our country and I eat it every single day. I love it, and for me, a meal wouldn't be complete without it- except for breakfast. I guess I could not eat rice for a few days, but just for a few days.. It's really hard to break an eating habit.

it took me something to get rid of rice as my source of complex carbs, when i'm cutting fat mode, i simply gradually decrease my intake of rice till and substitute rice to whole wheat bread or fibrous carbs...rice is staple food in asia especially in the philippines, i think there was one time this rice issue was subject to corruption?

Rice is considered as our (filipino) staple food. I've been to other countries and I still try to find rice even if it costs a little more then what I'm used to. I can try not to eat rice and replace it with oatmeal especially when I'm on a diet but after a few days i still end up craving for rice. I guess it is because we are used to different viands that is best paired with rice. But I was intrigued when i learned that eating rice is one of the best carbohydrates as compared to potatoes and pasta. So I guess we are still on a healthier side.
