i've tried to refrain from facebook the past couple of weeks. i did about four weeks. i stopped playing my games, reading my friends' posts on their walls, and browsing through pictures. i gotta say, i think i can do it for a longer time. but the thing is, that's how i get updated with the latest happenings with my friends. and sometimes, my co-workers would talk about some post on facebook and i'll be the only one who doesn;t know about it. so i started using it again. when i first stopped, it was a little bit hard not going online, but now, it's kinda hard to find time for facebook.
what about you? do you think facebook affects you that much? if you are a facebook addict, you think you can give it up for a period of time?

I am a certified facebook addict because I have my online business running here so I am always updated. Before, I was addicted to the games but I stopped because it's no longer fun and fascinating until I found this business opportunity I instantly grabbed. But on the contrary, I can stay out of it for around several months. But not actually years as of the moment. Maybe when there's a new innovation similar to it. =)

wow, that's good. that facebook is actually beneficial to you. i agree with you that using facebook for business is definitely better than playing games there. that's why i had made it my resolution since coming back from my hiatus to spend more time here in mylot than in my so-called bakery in facebook. :)

yes, mylot is quite addicting at times. plus, it's better 'cause we earn through here. i use facebook for getting updates from my friends though.

I know, I could personally live without facebook all together... but everyone I know is on there so I try to stay up to date with what they are doing. But it sucks because it's so much time wasted doing something that does not return any favors. At least mylot pays us for talking to people.

sometimes that's what i think too. i'm trying to talk more here than in facebook. that way i get something in return. :)

I can live without facebook for months. I only used facebook for connecting close friends and relatives abroad. I'm not fond of their games and application.

Well, in my case almost everyday all my things are online. Im making a lot of money in just posting some pictures of my business then they called my up. So most of the time i must be there. Since online is my career so morning and in the evening i try my best to be in it.
Not really addicted but that is my source of income so i spend lots of time with facebook.

Oh, I see. Sometimes I think about just working online. But I'm scared that that's not a steady income. I don't know if I'm right though.

well, i think that if you still do check it at least once a week, then you don't hate it as much as you think. :)

I haven’t been on Facebook for ages and I don’t feel I am missing a thing! I am not very active there so I don’t miss not logging in. MyLot on the other hand is quite addictive for me and I definitely miss it if I cannot be here as long as I would like to. Facebook I can take or leave...

yes, mylot is quite addicting as well. but sometimes, it's hard for me to find discussions that i can really relate too. i'm trying to find the balance with facebook and mylot. it would be better if my friends does mylot too. :)

In the past i have gone without facebook for three months,as i was getting really fed up with it as every day there were less and less people going on there. The thing is that it is really rare that i bother with it now as there are too many people arguing on there.

yeah, for some time, i could only find acquaintances online, not the people that i want to talk to. it sucks when that happens. plus, too many wall posts sometimes.

I can give facebook up for a period of time but i think i just can't give it up completely this time. The longest that i haven't open my facebook account is about 1 week that was before when internet connection in the place where i work was so difficult to access. But now im in the city i think the longest so far that i have not open my bf is 2 days. I always open it because i have to play the games in order for me to level up and not miss a day of playing. I can't help but wonder how my friends are and any latest happenings about them. Also in facebook i get to be updated if there are any new events that i can attend to like seminars and reunions perhaps.

we use facebook for the same purpose. :) although these days, i try not to get caught up with the game that i play. when i get too worked up with it, i slow down and tell myself that it's just a game, and i don't want it controlling me. :)

I've gone without facebook for maybe two weeks at the longest. If I'm out having fun or on vacation I don't really need to go on facebook. I like to sign on every once and a while to see what's going on because I feel like I miss things otherwise. Like it's really important for me to know who got engaged or married. I try to sign on every day but don't really manage to do it, maybe only 3-4 days a week.

there's nothing embarrassing about that. it's never too late to start. and if you're one of those people who just really don't like facebook then that's your choice. :)

well, i wouldn't call myself a facebook addict, maybe an enthusiast. but compared to hard-core facebooks addicts, i'll be such a softy. it didn't really seem that long to me. and if my co-workers weren't ranting on and on about some funny picture, i would have gone longer. :)

i also had experience not to have facebook for onlt two weeks and your right i was so OP(out of place). its true that facebook is a place for all the lates happenings and of course if you want to be in you must always open and update your fb account. and now i got anxious if i dont open my fb account for a week. i can if for only days but for a week or so? definitely not!!=)

that's the most inconvenient thing for me while i was on my facebook hiatus, being out of place whenever my friends talk about some post. i guess peer pressure sort of makes you go on facebook.:)

well, to tell you the truth, this isn't a contest, and if it were you'd have to be disqualified by default. :)

that's what it felt like for me. and when i opened it, i couldn't see if i had older notifications. i was surprised to only see like four notifications. but then my brother told me that they don't show all the notifications anymore, so that made me feel better. 'cause i thought that of those four weeks, i only got four notifications. sure enough, there were a lot of posts and tags for me that i didn't see the notification.

i'm glad to be of service :) i'd give you a 9-week chip, if ic ould. just kidding. seriously though, it's good that you have managed to cut off your addiction. as the other poster said, facebook shouldn't control your life.
