Congratulations to the man of the hour, Manny Pacquiao, for winning against Antonio Margarito and for being the first boxer to hold eight world titles. I do feel sorry for Margarito but like any other fights, there's a winner and there's a loser. I must say that Margarito is indeed tough and strong and quite admiring that he didn't surrender, he was able to finish all the rounds in their fight. After winning today's fight, do you think it's time for Manny to retire from his boxing career? There's no doubt that he has already established a name for himself as one of the legendary boxers or athletes in the history of sports. He has gain so much popularity, he has earned lots of money, he has given honor to his country, he has started his own businesses, and it's not unknown to many of his fans or followers that he has been elected as a Congressman in Sarangani province. Basically, he has still a life or a successful career outside the boxing arena. We are all aware too of the dangers or risks of being a boxer especially on one's health. No matter how strong or skillful a person is, he's body has still limitations, at one point his body may just breakdown. In addition, being a politician or public servant is a tough and serious deal. A lot of time and effort should be given in order to fulfill one's sworn duties and responsibilities. But at the same time, Manny is still a hot topic, he's really an amazing boxer. There are still lots of offers to come anytime soon. So fellow mylotters, do you think it's about time for Manny Pacquiao to quit or retire from his boxing career? Why do you think he should or should not retire? =)

i think he's got one more fight in him
beat mayweather and let him go home crying to his daddy
that would definitely shut that trash talker up
after that, pacquiao should retire
and concentrate on the other things in his life
but he should still continue training and not let go of his physical health

If Mayweather accepts the challenge, I think it's okay for Manny to do one more fight. And when he wins against Mayweather, it's time to retire to be able to take good care of his health more and just focus on his responsibilities as a husband, father, business man, politician, or any other endeavor he has in mind. =)

Hi louievill. Yeah, it may be a delaying tactic for Floy. I think he's not just too confident with himself when it comes to fighting Manny though he's also a great boxer. Maybe he doesn't like to accept the challenge because he knows what Manny is capable of doing and there's really a big possibility of Manny bringing him down. Hehe. =)

I think Mayweather is just waiting for Manny to hurt himself fighting bigger opponents, sort of a delaying tactic as he always does, Manny is wise enough to decearn that, maybe he should wait for that blabber mouth to fight bigger and larger opponents like he did and sustain the same damage before he takes on him, otherwise who's that blabber mouth gonna sucker? He might as well keep that perfect record of his that means nada in the boxing world unless he fights Manny and for sure if the fight will be soon as manny recovers he's gonna beat the living daylight out of that blabber mouthed coward.

I do think he needs to retire. Yes, he is at its peak of his career but would it be nice if he retires while he's still the best than retiring because he needs to (due to defeat)? I agree that he already has made a name and for sure his name will never be forgotten in the boxing world; so I think this is the right time to retire and concentrate on the other things that's keeping him busy besides boxing. I also want him to retire for health reasons. It's obviously not nice to get hit/punched several times in the head/body right?

I would agree that things might suggest that he should retire. But when you look at it he needs to find a final historic match. I think that he can have that kind of bout with Mayweather. After which he can retire.

It's too early to conclude if he might quit or continue his career because at the moment he celebrated his new belt from Margarito. Although he is busy with his political career I think he will not quit for boxing. There's another individual for his next match and that is Floyd Mayweather who always talk alot about him that he will defeat Manny on their match. If we based on Manny's income better he will quit and concentrate to his district and help people so that Gensan will become progressive soon.

Considering the demand for the fight against Floyd? No. That's what Floyd is exactly waiting for. If Pac retires, Floyd can come back and act king again and say Pac retired out of fear that they may fight. In terms of accomplishments in boxing, there really isn't anything to prove anymore. The last thing everyone wants to see is the fight against Floyd, and if it happens, I think that is the best time to retire. A win over the self-proclaimed greatest would be the best cap to the illustrious career of Pacquiao.

Indeed Manny Pacquiao is one of the elite boxers we could ever have. Yet eventhough he's a big asset to the Filipinos, i guess it's time for Manny Pacquiao to end his boxing career.
He has already proven himself to us. We know already how great he is when it comes to boxing but then as a fellow, i suggest that it is time to stop. It won't be a loss for him i think if he stops he's boxing career thus, he would be able to give more priority in his work being a Congressman. He have done enough. And i think, it would be really good if he start anew.

I do agree with you that Manny should retire now, but if ever Mayweather accepts the challenge of fighting Manny, it would be a great match. After that, He can really retire, fighting no one. He can now focus more on other things like his family, their businesses, being a politician and also a comedian and/or host. =)

He should quit while he's still at his prime and good health. Boxing is a dangerous sports and boxers are prone to getting different diseases. Besides Manny doesn't need to prove anything to anyone anymore when it comes to boxing with his remarkable achievements.

I also think he could retire now. Being a boxer is not an easy job, it's tough and risky. You're right, even if he wins some more or loses a fight in the future, his name will still be written in the history of boxing. He's truly a great boxer, no doubt about that. =)

I totally agree with you. He will have his recognition as one of the greatest fighters or boxers of all time for the rest of his life even if he retires as early as now. But I'm also excited to witness Manny and Floy finish what they suppose to have started even before Manny and Antonio's fight yesterday. =)

Well, I guess Manny has proven more then enough and for me, I think he should retire from boxing already. He must focus now with his new and promising career as a politician so he can serve more his poor countrymen in Sarangani and Gensan areas. His fight with Margarito is NO DOUBT that he is the BEST of the world. I am very proud of him as a pinoy.

Probably he can relax after two years but when he was interviewed, he will still stay as a boxer for some time before he retires. I guess he was the most successful boxer of all time and he really made his countrymen proud.
He is also of age so I think he cannot stay for more than 5 years, maybe he will still be around as an athlete for 2 years more and ready to retire after that. What if he wanted to aim for a 10th world title? He is doing good as a Congressman now in his province so I do hope he will now focus his work for his people after his relaxation.
Congrats again to our boxing icon Manny Pacquiao. Keep it up!

Yup, it seems that he still wants to fight. I hope it wouldn't take him too long like two more years before he retires. I think he may still have 3 more fights. There's really a possibility that he's eyeing for ten world titles. I personally would want him to retire. I don't want him to suffer possible health problems from boxing in the future. =)

No, I don't think Pacman should retire now. He's on the top of his career. Still he have to make some big matches, including against Floyd. As a star, he is undeniable. As a boxer, he is unbeatable. He has to declare his victory to the world by challenging some greatest boxers. After that, win or lose, he's still the hero. The hero of Philippines, the hero of Asian. We, Indonesian, love him so much.

I would also want to see him fight and win against Mayweather. After that, I think he should retire. Although he's still strong, he's not getting any younger. We can't really tell what may happen in the future. It's still best to put his health first before anything else. He has proven himself anyway and he still has a promising life after his boxing career. Thanks. =)

Why should he quit? He's at the peak of his career! He's beaten Margarito yesterday and he has many more wins to come! Go Pacquiao!

I also believe he can still win more fights but at the same time, it's better to retire early since boxing may cause different health disease/s or issues in the future. It's better to be safe. He has proven himself as one of the greatest boxers of all time anyway. =)

I think he shouldn't retire yet, this is just the peak of his career. In my opinion he's gotten involved in politics too soon. He can help his fellowmen without being a politician. I'm afraid the people around him will just use him for their benefits.
