Reading can enhance your visualization and have your mind thinking of what the story looks like in reality while watching makes you more entertained and relaxed without stressing yourself from visualizing because you already know how it looks like. You can have all the satisfaction you wanted in the book but when they make it into a movie many details will be removed and sometimes the important events are not shown in the movie. But the watching it won't be hard for you to imagine things because you can already see it that is not seen in the book like the fighting scenes in the book. But i love to read and watch at the same time. That think i can really be more satisfied with the story if i read the entire details without the deleted scenes and be able to see what the things being described in the book really looks like.

I enjoy both. I try and do both. I read many books before seeing a movie. If I find that a movie I have watched is based on a book, I'll find the book. Then I try and read it as well. Sometimes, it's fun to see which I enjoy better.

I love to do both but if it is a movie based on a book, I almost always read first. I like to have the characters built in my mind and then I compare to what they did with the movie. Actually, I have to go out and get the last Harry Potter book. I am behind on reading and I am really looking forward to the last movie.

I will surely go for reading. Specially in some cases. If you are reading a scientific articles or news paper I think it s better reading than watching. Watching is good I won't say it's not. Many thing you don't understand reading can make out watching.

Definitely reading. I can interpret the emotions rather than having the movie director or actors interpreting for me.
I can stop and start as and when I want.
I also enjoy the feel of a book in my hand, especially the smell of a newly published book.

I like reading, especially stories. Whenever I read, my mind will start imagining the stories I read, thus every time I read, the scenery in my mind will change. Watching is fun, because I aim to learn many languages, and watching is important to familiarize myself with the intonation and the way the sentences are spoken. Then when I read, I could use that intonation to suit the sentences.

I love both reading and watching. If I happen too see a good movie, I go through some information about it and if it's based on a book, I look for the book. I love knowing the details of the story and seeing how it differs from it's origin. But with your Harry Potter example, I read the book first before watching. It really depends. But more often than not, I read first before watching.

Actually, I find both pleasureable because they give different levels of experience. But when it comes to books or novels being interpreted to the big screen, I prefer watching the movie version. Primarily because I don't have too much time to read novels anymore. For my readings, I now stick to business and motivational books or internet articles. Thus, watching a movie for me is more convenient and won't take too much of my time.

when it comes to harry potter, i love both reading the books and watching the movies. I have been reading books from novels, inspirational, sci-fi and other kind of books as long as they interest me. Reading though needs a lot of time and a conducive place where you can relax and read uninterrupted. While watching movies can be done regardless of where you are.

Hi! Actually, I prefer both! I believe there is a time for reading and a time as well for watching... It depends with the movie or the books that you like as well. There are books that are not yet adapted to movies, so that would mean, I have to read it. For those books that are already being adapted to movies, I also read the book if I have it or can afford to buy it, then watch the movie version. For the book, Harry Potter, since it went out as a book, I read the books and watch the movies as well, it's a good book and the movie version is very good as well. It's quite interesting to compare the book and movie versions but I feel the same toward them, I hope I have made myself clear, cheers!

I love both reading and watching Harry Potter. It's a bit difficult to choose which is better but in terms of details, I love reading the books. It gives me the whole picture of the story and it is well-described and there are more interactions between the characters because it is in narrative form. On the other hand, the movies, they "breathe life" to the characters and the whole story. It gives you the image of the characters and shows you how technology can bring to life the whole Harry Potter novels, not just the characters but also the setting of the story and the directors and producers create their own personal touch on how they interpret a certain book.

I don't like Harry Potter... so I can't really honestly answer that last question. But I much prefer to read over watching something. When a favorite book of mine is adapted to the screen, I still prefer the book. I've loved loads of adaptations, but never loved one more than the original book.
I like movies... but I think books are and always will be better.
