half empty or half-full?

currently, do you see your glass as half-full or half-empty? do you think you have already accomplished a lot that you can already choose to relax or least be choosy with what you want to do with your life? or do you still feel that there are more that you need to do, dream, and achieve?

I have chosen to be choosy about what I want to do with the rest of my life. I think there is a point where I have to chose my health over other things so I can do more of what I want to do.

well, and when you are young, you can be a bit less careful of your health - to a point - but when you are staring down 60... you start considering where you want to be in 10 years...

you have a good point there, elicbxn. when we want to achieve more, we need to think about what's more important or priorities that actually help us do more in the long run. keeping healthy is surely one of these things. the lack of it would only jeopardize our hopes and plans. thanks for the response, elicbxn!

Hi zapatee! I like to think of my life as half full with a lot to do..lol. I feel like I have accomplished a lot with my life so far but I also feel like I have a lot left to do. It's not that I really want to be more..it's that I want to do more. I really want to get the most out of life. Work alot...oh yes...hoping it will pay off...even more..lol...I work 40+ hours a week in a management position, I am a fulltime student plus I have two young girls that I want to love me more than anything...LOL...like I love them. I also have a great passion for writing and oilpainting...which, so far, I haven't had a lot of time to do lately. I want to travel and be a part of charities too. I don't think I even have enough time for everything that I want to do..lol...we'll see though.

wow, you certainly have your glass half full even though you feel you still have a lot left to do. well, i think most us want to accomplish more. 40+ work weeks make you super-busy, and you're a student and mom to 2 daughters, now isn't that something, lol. i like your interests and passions too--painting, writing, charities, and travel. it really feels good when we are able to accomplish many things in our lifetime and still get to enjoy some of our personal interests or hobbies, if only we have enough time in our hands, lol. i also like the part where you said that you want to do more rather than want to be more. well, carpe diem and thanks for the response!

oh, but you can start with planning, lakota. if you think they're a little daunting, start with small goals, baby steps, then work your way up to achieve the bigger ones when you already can. if you think you already have everything, just do some little things that will make you happy like hobbies, or making other people who needs some little support in some ways, happy--that's another way to making more accomplishments and being full in the heart. thanks for your response!

I think, glass is half empty or glass is half filled, this is just a perception. At the what matters is how much you want and not how much you have? As far as I am concerned, I see my different glasses from different point of views. For example, if it comes to career and professional achievement I always see my glass as half empty and there is still more which I want to achieve. And I think there is no harm in thinking that way. Because if I start thinking okay at-least my half glass is filled, I will just stagnate. There will be no progress. But when it comes to other things like health and love. I always see my glass as half filled. Knowing that there are many people who does not have enough resources or they in poor health. And I do thank Almighty for that. happy myLotting

some people also look at it that way with their glasses. when it's half-empty, it means there's more that one wants or how much have already been done and be thankful for. it's also true that some people who see their glass as half-filled are tempted to slow down or stagnate, and not see other opportunities for growing. it's good to be appreciative of what you have accomplished, but there are still many things that we can always choose to take up, learn, be good at, and accomplish. you are right, there are still more that one can achieve in one's lifetime.

In the Winter I have S.A.D. and so things seem half empty. In the SPring they start looking alittle more half full. I do pretty well and have a pretty good attitude as it gets warmer and sun is out more. I make very small goals and try to reach them. I want to do better with my writing. Right now I am a freelance writer. Hope to publish something at some point.

keeping small goals is another good strategy at achieving a much bigger goal, so good for you, celticeagle. there are many helpful internet sites that can help with your writing, you can check them out. thinking up of good topics are also very helpful with getting more viewers/readers of your stories/articles and getting paid more in the end. i hope you really do well at it. thank for the response and good luck with your writing!

I have been in a positive frame of mind since past several days and life has been more than half full in terms of hope and optimism for some time now. And I intend to carry on this momentum by fueling my life with hard work and harness of freewill. Overall, too, I have always seen life as a repository of beautiful things imminent to burst open and I believe it does as well, given that we ceaselessly help ourselves by doing the needful. Apply your faculties to the maximum effect and you'll find your abode illuminated with incandescent gleams of gods.

half-way through your response i felt like reading a prose, i guess i was, i_luv_u, lol. very nice response and choice of words you got there. maybe you're a writer/poet? just a hunch, lol. but you have put it nicely, and yes, in a more poetic manner, ;). indeed, we should always strive to do our best and we can surely achieve or accomplish more. thanks for the response!

that's right, dodo, being positive is always the better option. being grateful for a glass that is half-full is great, and still looking at more opportunities at achieving more is another good perspective. thanks for the response!

Currently, my glass is full! I am counting my blessings this past week. My daughter and grand daughter are both very near and I'll be sharing my christmas with both of them and my two younger children. I am excited to have found some christmas crafts I can make that I am sure my family will love as much as I enjoy making them. There is a whole lot more that I can achieve. The next year is going to be awesome!!

well, you are one very lucky woman, mother, and grandmother! i like doing crafts too (when i have the extra time, lol). christmas is just around the corner and everyone's really getting busy. nice to know you take notice and are grateful for the blessings you have received--and still looking forward to a better new year. i think we all should have this kind of attitude--it really feels good inside when we're feeling and thinking positive. thanks for the response, buggle!

Even though I've faced a lot of difficult times this year, I still view the glass as being half full because I know that there is a lot of bright days coming in my future. I know that when that happens we are going to be able to accomplish things that we never thought we would be able to in the past. In addition to this, we are very lucky to have what we have right now, we shouldn't be disappointed at all in those things that we have.

i share your sentiments, dorannmwin. looking back to the 11 months i've gone through, not everything that i have hoped for really worked out. you are right, though, that we should still be hopeful for the coming new days and to be thankful for the good ones that we have accomplished and what we have now. that's optimism. thanks for the response!

I always live my life looking to the positives. At least most of the time. Therefore, I always think that I have half left. Instead of the fact that I have lost half. Still despite the glass is still half full, there are things that I can do to make it more full. There are things that I can do to increase what I do in life and achieve the most out of everything. Therefore I try to maintain a positive attitude of the glass being half full when I can. It just makes everything much more simplified.

nice to know you have a positive attitude, megamatt. i believe we all need that because not everything that we do, no matter how hard we try, can always turn out the way we want it to be. i try to maintain the same attitude as far as my own life and directions are concerned. yes, i agree that there are things that we can still do to make our glass more full. we shouldn't tire trying and persisting with what we know we can have.

this situation is a catch 22. in some cases i will be somewhat satisfied and feel like half filled and in other case it is like half full in situations i know that next time i will perform much better. so it is just a state of mind.

you're right, pankajgarg. sometimes we look at things differently because we have many facets in our life that we try to work on at various levels and in different ways. our awareness of ourselves and at things that we do or goals that we have are also important so we know how to respond or work on them. thanks for the response, pankajgarg!

i have always felt this way...half empty half full. I have done everything but seems I have accomplished nothing. i also decided that i rather not have him (my special someone) than having him half empty half full. :p

don't feel bad, eamr. the two best things to remember when we want something is to set a positive frame of mind and then act on that goal that we want to accomplish. try making small goals at first. plan well. be grateful when you achieve them. move on to the next. stay positive. choose to stay hopeful. keep dreaming and achieving. also, you must also like what you're doing and work hard at it, otherwise, there would never be any sense of accomplishment and happiness in it. about your special someone, i'm sorry i cannot comment on that since i really do not know the details. but just try to make yourself happy with the things that you can do. happiness comes from ourselves. it's only you who can make your glass half-full or half-empty. thanks for the response, eamr!

that's fine, cssiduyz. as long as we keep our focus and work harder, we can still get to our dreams. the positive thing about looking at your glass as half-empty is that we can at least assure ourselves of more opportunities that we can grab, learn from them, and grow with them. thanks for the response!

To me I see the glass as half full, I get to appreciate the half already in the glass. On achieve my goals on 2010, not all and I think I have room for improvement to be able to achieve them in 2011. It just require focus and hardwork to see my dreams come reality, I still have got a long way to go

that's nice to know, oderog. we all need to be thankful for the things we have accomplished, yet still remain hopeful and courageous with the new things that will come our way or we may still want. personally and professionally, i also see my glass as half-full, yet i am still looking forward to achieving more, learning better, dream bigger, and grow better. thanks for the response!

I have always seen the glass half full. I'm a very optimistic type person. I feel I have achieved and accomplished alot in my 54 years but if you relax and don't continue to achieve you usually will die younger, in my opinion. So I'm always looking for things to learn and accomplish in my life. I don't like being idle at all. In fact my family sometimes thinks I'm crazy because I tell them that I have to accomplish and learn something everyday. If I don't I get depressed.
