Do you plan your christmas shopping or just pick things up as you see them?

Im a bit of both, I plan the main presents, but then as Im going around I see the odd gift that I get as an extra. I only have to buy a few more gifts now but I know roughly how much they will cost me. So how do you do your shopping, do you go out with a list and stick to it or do you just wander the shops hoping for idea's?

I usually start my Christmas shopping way before the holiday season. I start around September or sometimes even earlier. That way, I don't spend money all at once. This year though, I've been sick so I got busy. During my days off, I usually have blood work done or I have to go to my check ups. Before I know it, November's come and gone.So now, i have no choice but to plan it.

Starting it early is good when you can, but yeah sometimes things come up and you cant always get it done as early as you would like to! Hope you manage to get everything you want!

I got gifts for everyone, but I'm not sure I got everything I want. I always feel that way when I hurry the thing I do.

Dont worry, if you have managed to get gifts for everyone then they wont know what you originally planned to get them, they will just be thankful that you got them something!

I am a bit of both. I will make a list who to buy and what I would get them and my price range since I am pretty broke (a college student). When I'm out shopping I'd think of what to buy people I am getting for Christmas.
Happy Holidays!

I make a list. I try to do some making of gifts in advance, and then I spend some time in December shopping. People usually have lists of things that they would like, and I pick an item off the list; it's easier that way.

Thanks for responding, it is easier if someone had made a list, when you say make do you mind if I ask what kind of gifts you make?

I think its a good idea to shop throughout the year, by the time christmas comes you have most of it done then!

I do have a list of things I want to get for someone. Like my DIL....she likes scrapbooking so I get her supplies and things she needs...my son picked his out....new hunting boots. Well I would much rather have them tell me and they get exactly what they want for Christmas!

Thankfully i have got all my shopping done as well as it is all wrapped up and some of it i have passed on to the people who i got it for as a gift.I tend to get all my gifts during the year as that way i have nothing to much to get when time gets here.I get vouchers throughout the year so i have extra money to get things that i would have to buy out of my purse/bank.

It depends actually. This year I will have a list as money is tight and I am not sure of how we are going to buy things anyway. I prefer to make a list but I also like to pick up items through the year as I find them. I am thankful that I did do some shopping early as it has helped now that I am not sure how we are going to afford to buy anything.

I always try to get the kids something they have asked for, and I always try to think of something they can use or need (we all know kids and their logic during the holidays) so I guess I too am a little bit of bit of both. This year the kids are only getting a couple gifts from me (spending like $20.00) on each of them, and then all other gifts are hand made. We will be sure to have a lot of fun doing different activities rather than focusing on gifts that were bought.

Hand made gifts sound great! Yeah kids dont really think about what they can use or need! What types of gifts are you going to make? If you dont mind me asking!
