I kinda liked the newer one better. I heard it was more like the book and I thought it was more funny than the older one.

They are both very good movies and I'm not sure which one I like better. The new one is definitely closer to the book, but that was it's goal as opposed to the older one. Plus, Johnny Depp is one of my favourite actors and delivered an all-star performance as Willy Wonka. I guess I would say the new one. A lot of people complained about the Oompa Loompa songs in the new one, but if you read the book the lyrics are identical, so that's why they are the way they are. But, again, both movies are excellent.

I prefer the older version of Charlie and The Chocolate Factory. It is probably because I love older movies and I grew up with that one, so I may be a bit prejudiced.

I do like both versions though I would have to say that I prefer the older version because I grew up with it.
But, the newer version is equally entertaining.

There's good bits to both, I love Johny Depp dearly as everyone knows and he was very good as Willie Wonka but I like the old style Umpa Lumpas better, can't really remember the old one much - I was too little ha-ha.
