I've recently began to research healthy alternatives to salt, since high blood pressure runs in my family and eating traditional salt seems to be a major culprit for that. I've heard bad things about potassium as a substitute for sodium in a lot of salt alternatives.
Does anyone else have experience with different salt alternatives and which one do prefer you use?

I once have heard or watched a cooking program that encourages less salt by using herbs and spices to flavour their dishes. I think it is a good idea because by alternatively using a herb or a spice, you do add flavour to the dish minus the saltiness that comes from using salt or even MSG.

Well, we do need salt in our system, so it's better just to discontinue shaking salt on your foods. Start buying reduced sodium products. I have heard that sea salt is a better alternative to sodium. We need a percentage of sodium in our body..for bodily functions, such as sweating, and to keep our thyroid functioning properly.

I've tried to switch to using more sea salt I understand that's a lot better for you. And I also use a lot more spices now. Lots of times I can completely skip salt by using other spices.

This is the first time hearing of an alternative for salt but you have alternatives for sugar which is quite common.
