I have never been to Jail and I think I only been to court once in my Life for a stupid ticket I got...."Open container"in other words "Drinking in public" this is Vegas so what's the big deal.
Anyways a dear Friend of mine had to go to court today and they were gonna throw him into jail if he didn't come up with $200..
He called me up and asked for my help and at first I was like "I don't have that much money" but then I felt really bad so I left work went to the courthouse and paid the fine while he was still hand cuffed in the courtroom awaiting his fate.
If you had someone that you cared about needing your help would you try your hardest to try to help or would you just say "SORRY BUT I CAN"T HELP YOU"?
I probably have to pawn some of my stuff to have money for the Holidays but that's OK.

I have never myself been in this type of situation. But if I had someone near and dear whom I cared for and needed my help. Absolutely I would help,as we are all humans and well what is to say that someday I too would not require help.
See if it something like you mention that is not intentional. However if it was habitual that is another story, but like you I certainly if I could I would be willing to help. As that is why I consider myself a friend.

I known him for over 8 years and he's a good person that's why I did it.
I had an ex boyfriend who went to jail all the time cause he was a jerk, I never once bailed him out.
I enjoyed my peace and quiet then

With me it would depend on the person, it would have to be a very close friend, and I would try my best although I dont have much money myself. If someone called me tomorrow and asked for £200 then I wouldnt be able to give the full amount as Im not going to get myself in debt, but I could tell them that I could give them some of it and hopefully they can find someone else who could give the rest.
I would try to help out but Im not getting myself in trouble with the bank, and of course it would depend on the reason they had to go to jail, if it was something really bad that they did then Im sorry but I wouldnt pay, I do try to help out but if they deserve to go to jail then I wont help get them out. Sometimes being a good friend means doing things that are not popular and that they wont agree with.

It really left me broke till next payday which is not for over a week.
I always like to have a little back up money in case for emergencies, now I hope I don't need it for myself.

I hope you are not without money and that your friend finds a way to pay you back soon.

If he is sincerely a good friend he will would try to get your money back as soon as possible or some of it anyhow. But I have done this once..and would probably do so again if it was someone I cared about or could trust.

I would seriously help a Friend if he needs help. A Friend in need is a Friend Indeed. I will never forget that phrase. It has happened to me a lot of times that I have been into problems and my Friends have helped me a lot. I have also helped my friends a lot of time and the balance goes on.
If I don't help anyone then other's wont help me too. You should always help other's if you have the capacity to help them.

I agree and I do it if I can cause you never know when you need help yourself.

That is really sweet of you and hopefully your friend will pay you back as soon as possible. That is very generous and hopefully if you're in some sort of situation (hopefully never) your friend will do the same for you. I probably would do the same as well but it depends what did he do.. it doesn't seem like he did something major for a fee of $200 or go to the jail though. How long would jail be for $200?

It wasn't really that long and I'm sure he would have been just fine but still I felt bad...5 days only.
Sometimes now I think that was a lot of money for only 5 days

That is so kind of you, because $200 is too much for me and I will think many times before giving it away.
I think if I do have money in my pocket then I will give and that only in a condition when the friend really needs it. It is good to help because it makes you feel good about you and also the friend will be proud to have a friend like you. In future the friend will be there for to help you.

I suppose it would depend...if it were someone that was in trouble all the time or regularly..then I wouldn't go very far out of my way for them. But if it were someone that was close to me and just screwed up one day...yes..I would help them out all I could.

I had an ex that used to go to jail a lot through out the 7 years we were together and I never bailed him out cause I was glad he was gone .
But this guy is not a person that gets into trouble actually he's been livivg here for 12 years or longer and never got even a ticket.

u did a good thing. it's always good to help others though it's not always possible i guess. deep inside us there's this sense of happiness and satisfaction when we help others and i'm sure u are feeling it. i'd like to help others if i can whenever they seek my help.
i've never been to jail or court but i've been detained at a police station for half a day once. it was because i happened to be with a bunch of friends (not my actual friends, rather friends of one of my friends) who pop pills and the cops thought i was one of them. obviously. and it ain't pretty u know. i'd rather pay than go to jail. i see in movies and tv shows how the inmates treat newcomers and how dangerous it is in there. jails ain't for me and i'd do everything i can to avoid going in there.

I understand how you felt, friend. It's pretty bad if some of your close friends are dealing with such things, specially when a lot of other people, who rob and steal are not in the jail, every court is ready to put there only the little people, who has nothing to pay with, instead of politics and others, which steal from the people each day.
I would help for sure, if i had the money. Would save from something else, but would keep the friendship with that person hoping that the person will appreciate it and will give me back the money as soon as it is possible.

Sometimes helping is a form of consenting a sin and inviting another one. We never know until the worst scenario takes place. As for this case, what would be the consequences if you failed paying the fine? Is this friend of yours is the type who can learned from his mistakes? I knew nothing about him but if you think by helping him is the right ting to do because he don't deserve to be behind the bars then helping made sense.
