shopping when low

Read an article on fashion which says that people tend to shop more when they are on their lows. Could be true as clothes, shoes and accessories would make us feel good particularly when we need a booster from our mood.
Do you agree with what is said in this article?

its okay if you can afford it but if you put off paying a much needed bill then you are just fooling yourself and making yourself feel'
even lower. use common sense, buy only what you can actually afford.
when you can afford it it will perk me up at once. but it must be
affordable.

Hi hatley. I agree...that is why window shopping for me is a better option although it makes you "water" for those beautiful things. But we can just only admire.
Thanks for your response.

I think that there is something about that. People are going to buy things to help bring up their mood. Therefore they might go shopping to help lift their spirits. Really that can be a bad thing. We can overspend a bit and then regret it later. Shopping is not the best way to cope with their problems. However, it is just one of the ways that people do in fact cope with their problems. So yes, I agree that people shop to bolster their spirits, for better or for worse.

I definitely agree with that article, because shopping always puts me in a better mood. I think being around other shoppers, and seeing them buy things they want makes me happy...lol...go figure! I will go window shopping when I'm upset, and I love to watch other people shop.

Same here. I would go window shopping and look at all those beautiful things. Somehow takes your mind off from foul moods.
Thanks fory our response, buggles.

I think this is true. Because despite the crisis we are all experiencing now, i can still see a lot of people inside the malls buying stuff for themselves and gifts for family and friends. This makes us really feel good after all Christmas only comes once a year. And even if it's not Christmas i still wonder why they say we are in great financial crisis when in fact lots of people are still buying things they want, not actually need!

I agree with you gaiza! Makes on wonder really if we do have a financial crisis when you see the mall full of people buying "wants" on or off christmas season. And to extend this, I also wonder what the situation would be when one finds out the pocket is empty for the next year or for the remaining of the month. Sigh!
Thanks for your response, gaiza.

I love shopping as much as any one, even though I don't get to do much of it here lately. Shopping is always a mood lifter for me. My daughter and I go shopping together and we fill our baskets with whatever we want then we put back all that we can not afford to get. We leave with just what we need. But it's still shopping, we just don't get to do much buying!
I also love window shopping. I had a friend that used to call it 'eye shopping'.We would often go eye shopping together and it was always a fun time.
