What invention do you think give both positive and negative impact on our lives?

what are the greatest inventions according to you,,, according to me 1) nuclear technology: it can solve the energy problem (positive impact) but the problem of nuclear waste and the use of fuel in weapons (negative impact)... 2) alfred nobel started his trust because his invention was not used the way he wanted. he invented dynamite for the help of miners (positive impact) but the dynamite ended up as a bomb (negative impact).. 3) internet: you can get anything you want, any damn information (positive impact) but the source may not be as reliable as are the books (negative impact). 4) automobiles: very convenient forms of transportation (positive effect) but now they are the major threat because of pollution created by them (negative impact). 5) mobile phones: this is now the cheapest, easiest and most convenient way of communication (positive impact) but excessive usage can lead to health problems like cancer (negative impact). there are tons of other examples....depicting the same... so every invention has a limit depending on how it is being used. but i think we should always keep in mind that excess of everything is bad, no matter how good the invention is

Hi, I believe that there is always positive-negative impact for anything that exist in this earth. Its not the thing or invention itself that has positive-negative impact, but its how we see the thing, we can look it in negative side we can look it in positive side too. In my opinion, every invention has a positive and a negative side. May be it works positively for someone and negatively for some other. But everything must have both the sides. When we use something for the first time, we need to gather as much information as we can about the particular thing. We really shouldn't ignore or overemphasize either the positive or negative side. We need to give equal importance to both it's advantages and disadvantages. Then in the next step we need to weigh its advantages and compare them with the disadvantages. Sometimes we need to compromise with the negative side as the positive side is too huge and lucrative. That means, we need to sacrifice little things to gain something bigger. This is applicable not only to inventions but also to every little thing, situation, incident or person we face in our life.

I agree the internet is probably one of the best examples of both the positive and the negative inventions of our time. You could also say the same for cable television, more exposure to different forms of media and even books and music. In the US, with our freedom of speech laws, people are able to express themselves positively or negatively, and call it art or a form of free speech or expression.

I think the invention of the cellphone gave positive and negative impact in our lives. Positive because you can connect and call family and friends. Negative because other people use the cellphone to scam and trick other people.

Hahahaha....you are so very true, Internet is the most damned and most appreciated invention of this world, it can spoil you, make you a genius, it can turn you into an addict, keep you sleepless for days or most importantly I should say nights, Internet is awesome ruthless. I see your point...but I also see television as one. There are so many people that waste away their lives watching that screen and in my opinion, most of the shows that are on television rot your brain. They are so dumb that I dont see why people watch them. I am the type of person to go out and do things or research on the internet. I like to learn...not stare at a screen like the rest of my family. It came as no surprise to me that I was the first to graduate college in my family...

Great topic! I believe the television has had both a negative and positive influence on our day to day lives. The violence in some programming creates an atmosphere of desensitizing us, like making "little incidents" of breaking the law or mistreating people through abuse and what not...look okay. I see this a lot with reality shows, and it's one of the reasons I dislike them. Violence should never be "okay." The positive impact that television has had, is the learning programs, especially for children. There's Sesame Street, the Electric Company, and of course Mr. Rogers. For the adults we have the history channel, Animal Planet, and other documentaries. We haven't had "television" for a year, and the one thing I do miss, is watching the local evening news and the morning news. Yes, I could get a paper and read the news..but after years of watching it, that is my preference.

There are so many inventions of technology today that can be seen as having both positive and negative feelings. The cell phone is one of these inventions. it can be a positive way to stay connected with people, yet it can also be a nuisance to life as well.

I really think that the main answer is money. Of course, its an invention, someone would have had to think of its use first. On one hand, we need money to live. We need money for food, shelter, and just life. On the other hand, money has lead to bad feelings, broken relationships, and just all around bad things. There is a reason why saying that money is the root of all evil. Yet without it, the world would not work, as people would hardly have an incentive to do some of the jobs when they are not getting paid.

Totally Agreed! It is true that Internet gave us the opportunity to do lot of things especially communicating your love ones which is far from you at the same time different people. Actually for me internet has no negative effects as long as people respect it. What i mean is that if no one will do PORNS and some kind of unwanted stuffs. I am sure that there will be no side effects or negative effects when using internet. So it simply means that it all depends to the PEOPLE/HUMANS on how to hanlde it. But generally as we can see. It is almost impossible to clean the net :( Its only my opinion so i hope you would appreciate it :) And regarding the technological inventions. For me its the VEHICLES.[I am not sure if this is connected to technological inventions. but as faw as i know it is included in the list hehe :)] Internet let us talk and see people through net. well i'll make it short. almost all of the inventions made have both positive and negative impact to our lives. yes, we benefit from them but we can't avoid the negative stuffs that it can bring.
