san1980 ,i would definitely suggest KASPERSKY INTERNET SECURITY.I have been using it from last couple of months and it works very well as it does get updates all the time from server. But if you are looking for free antivirus then i think AVAST AND MALWAREBYTES combination will do.Hope this would help.

I have avast antivirus on my system.. but most of the people in my place say that the best antivirus is Kaspersky.. However, you have to purchase Kaspersky in selected computer stores.. It's really expensive but it works better than other anitvirus software... ^_^

I use free Avira antivirus, it's very good with resources. And really does his job - I haven't had one virus problem after it - he always found the viruses when i just opened the site or started to download, so, the viruses had no chance to get in my computer. It checks on the fly - always when you are opening something, reading, and does it in such a way that your computer does not slow. I had that problem with norton and kaspersky - they really slowed my computer, and they always found viruses when I checked my computer once a week. Why they let the viruses to get there I don't understand - avira catchs them before they have a chance to do that. he checks even internat pages on the fly and always says me - i found virus, deny? that way - no virus on my comp, they all got catch on the entrance. I hope this helps, have a nice day))

Microsoft Security Essentials would be my recommendation for free anti-virus protection. You can download Microsoft Security Essentials for free from Microsoft, right here. http://www.microsoft.com/security_essentials/ Why? 1. Microsoft Security Essentials is free anti-virus protection straight from Microsoft. 2. User friendly. 3. Easy to use and work with, even if you're removing a virus. 4. Easy to set-up and configure. 5. Integrates well with Windows Firewall. 6. Virus history of viruses you cleaned and removed from your computer. 7. Microsoft Security Essentials constantly keeps itself up to date with the latest virus definitions, every single day. 8. Multilingual. So, if you speak Spanish, or any other language, you can download and install Microsoft Security Essentials in your favorite or native language.

so far, i only use 2 anti virus for my computer in the past... one is McAfee and the other one is Norton... and i believe that both of them are equally good with their own advantages and disadvantages... at the moment, i am using AVG Anti Virus Free Edition 2011 and it is not bad as well... take care and have a nice day...

i think avest is the best anti virus which is free.avg also does well but it slows down the system a bit.as far as paid antivirus is concern ,i think kasperskey and NOD32 are the best anti viruses.kaspersky takes bit more space then the above given antiviruses.hope it helps.

Hello friend, If you ask me, go for Kaspersky or AVG. Both are good and if you want to use it for domestic purpose only, you will get them for free for long periods of time, unlike the other ones, which offer free version for only a few months. I have been using them for a long time now and there hasn't been any problem whatsoever. Hope the same is the case with you too.

I've used Trend Micro and AVG. These two are good and reliable. AVG is improving on their virus database and Trend Micro, I've not used it since last year but I can guarantee that their security is fantastic. I've been using AVG free edition and it didn't give me any problems. I've just upgraded to the 2011 edition and it's working perfectly alright So...pick your choice!

I think nortons 360 is one of the best on the market now. i have tryied mcafee and a zlob virus got through and ruined the hard drives on my 2 laptops. as soon and i bought new hard drives and put them in i loaded nortons 360 and so far it has been 2 years and i am still safe. there is also a really good free one at there called free AVG.

I think (in my humble opinion) the best antivirus these days is ESET NOD 32.. try googling it.. it receives several awards in many computer magazines. i've tried it and i must say i'm satisfied with it. it doesn't slow your computer down the way norton do, and is quick to scan and fix viruses. Anyway, you should have some local antivirus at hand, they can work very efficiently since there's tend to be specific viruses in some local area. Where i lived in, almost everyone install one local antivirus and one general antivirus (norton, mcaffee, eset, etc).. Hope this helps..
