I just can't seem to find a hobby that I really enjoy.
I bought puzzles , paint by numbers, yarn so I can knit or crochet but nothing seems to hold my interest for long.
I started some puzzles did some painting and never even started the knitting, I just can't find anything that really grabs me.
I thought about making jewelry but you have to buy all the little pearls and strings, hooks and clasps and if I don't do it all the time i just waisted more money.
Did you ever start a hobby and then decided you wasn't really into it?
What was it/.....maybe I like to try it

Gosh, we could be twins...lol. I have so many incomplete crafts lying around...probably worth a small fortune. I would like to try jewellery too and I have heaps of beads but I can't find out how to do the ends. I would do a class but there are none near me and I can no longer afford such things.
I also have stacks of art books and hundreds of dollars worth of equipment but I can barely draw.
At least the computer worked. I spend over 12 hours a day on here most days.

We only have 1 computer that we share and since my honey made his own website he's on it most of the time.
I get the 4am shift when I get up and then the 4pm shift for about 2 hours after I get home, that's about all I like to be on here anyways cause I run out of things to do here too

The only time I like knitting or crocheting is when I watch TV.

Yes I did start a project and didn't like it. Actually it was a gift from one of our kids. She bought a scrapbooking kit and wanted me to work on it and enjoy putting it together of our grandkids. I just couldn't get into it and put it away. I like a craft I can take with me when I leave home and work on it while I am waiting for an appointment or babysitting our grandbaby. Plastic canvas is easy to carry and I love the results. Most recently I made Sesame Street banks for our grandkids and they turned out so cute. If the project won't fit in my purse, I carry an over the shoulder bag full of yarn and extra plastic. I've also tried many crafts but this one works for me.

I take a book with me when I go on the bus, to work and to appointments.
Your Idea sounds good, I've been thinking about scrap booking, I'm not sure what plastic canvasing is but I will look it up

That's my problem too, I have so many unfinished projects laying around I'm gonna have to clean house and get rid of them since I'm never gonna finish them.

They say ...try ,try and you will succeed.
Goals are a little different than hobbies though

I am the same as you.It took me years to finish a crochet blanket as well as making a quilt throw with material squares.I also use to start knitting a jumper and that sits in a draw upstairs, it is getting beyond a joke as there are lots of things that i have started and no finished.

hello missy,
Try what really got your interests.
I love making crafts,i do crochet and i am very impulsive that i want to see my finish product.
So,i start making small things first, like coin purse and make sure to finish it in one sitting.
Then,if i feel satisfied with it,try to make another design, like center table piece (not to big so that i can finish it in a day)
I also love embroidery, same thing,i start with simple designs because i always wanted to see how my work looks like when done.
I tried various crafts, but i make sure to have one finish product.
I paint figurines,and that's what i love mosts.
I love combining paint colors and see the results.
Just try to make a simple one,and feel how proud you are when you see your finish product.
Have a good day and enjoy your craft.

I think it's great that you have so many different hobbies, that way you don't get bored doing the same thing

It can be such a waste when we start things and don't finish them. i have seen a lot of hobbies come and go. i have been guilty in the past of starting something I coulod not finish,. it was usually a craft i thought was interesting, but really wasn't. i try to choose these things more carefully now.

maybe if you give then more time to your self and don't try anything new if you didn't finish the last.
i have a problem to finish things, i just make me, about 2 years ago it was so hard...
i'm managing to end more things now and hopefully i end things in the future!
happy new year

hi, my problem is i never have enough hours in the day to fit in my many interests with working. still for a cheap outside hobby why not try dowsing. you can dowse/divine for many things (start with water) all you need is some dowsing rods or even old wire coat hangers. its fun and cheap. also why not try ti- chi. a class is pretty cheap and gets you relaxed and fit at a very slow pace. swimming is also good fun and writing poems like on sites like 'wikinut' makes writing fun and it is cheap too.you could get out and about with your camera for a new hobby also. hope this gives you a few new ideas. good luck!

Thanks for the ideas.
I got a new digital camera and maybe I could try to do some photo shop or scrap booking.

Why don"t you first try doing nothing as a hobby! It is a good time to really think it over and concentrate on what hobby would really interest you. You would be refreshed to think hard what is the most suitable hobby that is best suited for you.

It happened to me sometimes....I started something but I dont finished it cause I have come to a feeling of bored or tired in doing it but prior to that I really want and need to do it by buying something to make anything that comes from my mind. But if you are really determined to do it completely , you can really do it and have it and you feel the contentment and value of your work. You must have a perseverance and determination values.

Hahaha that reminds me of one jigsaw puzzle that I have never touched even since I bought it during our trip to Japan. We visited Studio Ghibli Museum and bought the Kokoro 1000 piece jigsaw puzzle however before I can start constructing them I need to buy a frame that can fit this jigsaw puzzle. I planned to construct it one off only so I need a frame so I can keep it and put it on the wall.

I've done lots of puzzles and planed on framing them but never did, they end up under my bed collecting dust.

Well, I started cross stitch, painting, drawing, and a few assorted crafts, but I never really got that interested. I do like knitting, crocheting, and sewing though.

So you need to find something to do that will not cost you money, or that will allow you to use up what you have. What do you really like, what are your skills? Volunteering at charities can be a good hobby, like the humane society or in a nursing home. Look into something that you do with recycled things. Giftsandbags makes bags from juice packs that are empty. I have also painted empty cans for containers. You have paint from paint by numbers, so spray paint the can, then paint something on it like snowmen, etc. Little bitty cans make good candle holders.

There are a few things I have gotten into that I discovered I wasn't all that fond of..one was the jewelry making. It seemed like it never grabbed me either....I also tried knitting but for some reason just can't get it! LOL...I crochet up a storm but can't knit!

Hi missy! Happy New Year again! I always start things and never
finish them! That is a Libra's perogative (or so they say)!lol
I am just not good at anything really! I started to hook a rug,
that I never finished and threw out. I have started so many
different hobby things and never finish them. I don't know why
either so don't feel bad!

I do sympathise as I'm exactly the same. I start off with good intentions, then it all goes to pot after a few days. Two examples I can give you are..being addicted to riding my bike and now not riding it at all and years ago I would manually construct Astrological Birth Charts for people (obsessively) but I have not done one of them for years, even though it's now computerised to make things easier!
The only thing I've carried on with is MyLot! I've tried writing articles but that bores me after a while. I've been told I should write stories for kids but I haven't got round to that either!
What a waste of space I am lol.
