Do you read discussions very well before you answer? Or even get the words to give meaning of? Do you really know the answer to the question asked to a certain discussion? Or you just reply to what your mind says without reading the discussion.
No offense , my friend. But I saw many nonsense response or unrelated reply to discussion created by me or by others.
Its really disappointing we just reply and reply without understanding and giving good answers to the problem of the person who are asking advise/solutions.
I hope the next time you will response to my discussion and to others discussions. See to it you understand the discussion very well. If you don't have any idea about the topic. Simply skip. Don't reply saying " Sorry friend I have no idea, etc etc etc.
Because next time you will respond I might remarked you (-).
Do you get my point?
MYLOT GUIDELINES SAYS:
Please make sure you give your best effort to respond with quality responses. If you don’t know how to respond to a discussion, go on to the next one. Answers like “I don’t know” or “I don’t care” don’t help anyone and will be removed.

I have seen an increase of those kind of responses too They should be reported because they are violations. Those who are earning for posting such nonsense are taking away earnings from other users who do their best to create original, informative responses and it is totally unfair that some get paid for posting garbage

For me I am quite flexible in admitting all responses to my discussions. Partly because this site is meant for socializing and it is expected to receive varieties of answers from people of all walks of life. It is only fair that we give allowances for those who might not have in depth knowledge of the topic but eager to participate just to socialize while sharing their views to the best of their knowledge which might not fully answer the topic concerned. My negative rating is rarely used unless when people used abusive language to undermine others. There are instances when I was told that my response has gone out of context and told to reread the discussion. I just smile as I knew very well that my presence in the discussion was just to share my point of views and my response were not tailored cut to fit well into the topic. But if viewed in a different angle, it does give benefit to the topic of discussion. Everyone of us can come up with different views and it only take a little commonsense to understand what others write.

I agree with zandi458.
The same goes for syoti, starting many post a day, but it does not mean they are all quality posts right? haha =D What u think is not good enough, might be the best others can do, and so it's not right to threaten them with a negative.. haha

Indeed, socializing and being friendly to the community is very important to one member of a site.If the person aren't have in depth knowledge of the topic but eager to participate it only means he/she is responding in a nonsense manner.. Therefore, he/she is responding just to add number of his/her post and earnings as well without giving a proper response.
Take a look at this discussion:

Answers like "I don't know" are annoying, but when I start a discussion, which is rarely, because I always seem to be in a time warp, I am pretty grateful for almost any response I get as long as it is clean and not ill-tempered. No, I do not always keep my response exactly on target. Sometimes I just say something that I feel like saying, but it is always at least in some way at least peripherally related to the discussion.
Which reminds me, you just gave me a good idea for a discussion to go start. Thanks!

I've found myself sometimes going off topic in a discussion, but I always try to address the original poster's message or question. Still, the side notes aren't always bad things. Sometimes, things one person says will trigger all sorts of additional thoughts to a reader, and they want to share those and get interaction. It's a bit like holding a live conversation, where people will add in extra comments that may be only marginally related to the original topic. Some of the best conversations I've had were like this, where my friends and I would just talk about anything and everything, kind of doing a free association game while talking. But each side note came from something the previous person said. It can be fun and educational, too.

haha =D As long as u start any discussion, MYLOTTERS are free to respond when we see it.. lol =D It's our choice, our freedom to do so. If u are not gonna be happy with that way we respond, then dun start any.. lol =D SOmetimes, how we respond is also based on how the starter start their discussion. IF we think it's not a good one, it's natural we respond in a sloppy way too.. lol =D

Woah! You sounded so pissed off with responders who give low-quality responses. Maybe some are still trying to get a good grasp of their English language and result to responses that might be considered unrelated posts. But definitely, I agree with what you said that mylot is not just for earning money with posts and responses but it should be a place where we can actually learn something from mylot users.

Now I know what you're referring to. Those responses were really funny. I never thought that some people are really that stupid or what. I'm sorry for the word. Maybe they didn't really understand what they were talking about. Still, those responses made me laugh.

i totally agree with you... if you don't have any idea or can't make a contribution to a discussion, then it is better not to respond to it and skip to the next one... also, if you are too lazy to read the discussion until finish because the content is too long, then please don't bother to reply to it as well... i think it is just the basic respect and courtesy for the owner of the discussion... take care and have a nice day...

Thanks for reminding us about all those mylot guidelines. I really do try to read the entire discussion before i respond, but some of these discussions just get way too long. Then, if you are lucky (not)the entire post will be written as one paragraph.

You are really beginning to sound like an old timer here my friend. It is frustrating when we get those kinds of answers, and it does not help anyone else. You are right, if people do not understand the words they need to determine what the words mean. Ask a friend, get a translation program, search it out on the internet. That way MyLot will benefit them as much as possible.

Am I? I guess and getting well versed in mylot rules. No need for translation since mylot prioritized English. If you will read the responses thru my facebook inquiry. Some of the responses is unrelated. Even my sleeping time is mentioned which I clearly stated I only play citiville 30 minutes a day.

Yes, it is discouraging to read an answer that has nothing to do with your discussion or is just a few words. I even read one this week where the responder wrote just one line and that was about sports. It had nothing to do with the discussion!
I think some of those happen because the poster doesn't know much English and he or she is typing something in an attempt to make money, hoping that it will be counted. That's why I think every member should have to take a test on how well they know the basic rules of this site.

hiu syoti sometimes if I am really interested and I am not sure of an answer but have some knowledge I will say I am going to check this put for you and get back and I do just that. but if its on a topic I am not interested in and do not care about I will go to one I can answer fairly and intelligently too.I have always read all of a discussion but lately I have seen some that honestly I am wondering if the poster himself or herself knew just what they meant. I will at times say if you will just add a sentence telling me more clearly I think I can help you.Just saying I don't know is so stupid as you are not helping and your response will get deleted as not adding anything to the discussion.

I hate it when that happens to me when I create my own discussions. There are people that just try and point out grammatical mistakes or post something that is three words long. Other times I just get answers that don't make sense. There's a difference if English isn't the persons first language but posting profanity and randomness makes me irritated.

That annoys me to no end. Sure, I have responded at times with my own rant, but I have read the discussion. I know I should not do that (have my own rant in a related subject) and I will try to curb myself.
I did report a post in one of my discussions because it was obvious the poster only read the title and not the content. I was surprised this person has many posts too. I wrote below their comment and reported them. If they have been here that long, then they need to be reported, they are no longer newbies.
For a newbie I may overlook it. I may even refer them to the guidelines.

You make a valid point. People should read the topics clearly so that they can respond with quality comments. But we should remember that all people are not at the same level whether if be reading or whether it be with life's experiences. As a result, perhaps they genuinely misunderstood the questions or the topics. Happens every day in real life, why should this be any different I wonder? I will keep in mind about the quality of responses you want but I would not mark someone that did not understand my topic negatively. I would instead attempt to clarify so that they can learn after all, everyone's best effort will never be the same.

Okay, there is usually a lot to read, and I have a lot of things to do, so I usually just skim through the reading.
I am a student, so I usually don't have all day to spend on here. I will answer as much as I can, and that is all that I can do.

I have noticed that there are a few people on here who give those short unhelpful replies. Sometimes, the response is even nonsensical. I read the questions before I reply, and try to give the best answer I can. Sometimes, they might even seem a bit too long, and there is a chance I am rated lower by others for it. There are a lot of people on here, it seems, that have a high post count, and speak of making a lot, though when you see their responses, the longest and most on topic ones are on the earning discussions.

I do my best effort to answer as well as I can. But I cannot know whether the other party will find it as good as he wants. The guidelines prohibit answers such as "I don´t know" or "I don´t care" but say nothing of more complex responses of the same kind such as "I was not aware this was so and so, but I am happy to learn about it" That answer can continue explaining why the mylotter is interested in the subject. Many times I answer things I don´t know and learn a lot.
Probably it is better if we let mylot say if an answer should be removed or not, instead of rating with a - a response that is not up to our standards.
Have a nice day!

I will try to remember your point from now on. I really try to read and understand a discussion and try to respond to it the best way i could. Some information i have inputed may not be correct to some readers but somehow i know that i have answered it the best way i can. I have had a discussion that one member responded in an out of this world answer and i was like oh i didn't mean that way, i feel sorry for that member since she really responded a very long response but the point was way too far from the topic. I wasn't mad at her for not reading my post first before responding but rated her somehow with the points she made but now after what you have said, im thinking that was really wrong of me to rate her + , she will still be doing the same thing again because i tolerated that kind of attitude. Now i have learned my lesson, thanks to you and to the others who have cleared my mind. Happy myLotting :)

Hi Syoti,
I think you have point in your lines. Sometimes people don't read the discussion well and reply which doesn't relate to the discussion, But the replies with the line "I don't have idea" doesn't break the mylot guidelines.
The person will not get credit for these lines and other one line responses like "Thank you very much". They are not offence but yes you can rate the comment "-" or "+". I think that one must use their powers with responsibility, I don't keep on rating the comments. I give these remarks when I have a strong urge from inside.
