Am curious about what is best to give to my dog to eat? He does seem to prefer normal food than dog food, at least from the dry one... do you have any suggestions what is better or not?

Hello lokahiou,
There is nothing abnormal with your dog. All dogs would rather eat home made food instead of their kibbles.
Giving your dog food from your table is not the best solution. Our food has too much sugar, salt and other spices, and they are not good for dogs' digestive.
But you may consider preparing food especially for your dog - some boiled rice with meat and vegetables. I did this for my dog for 13 years. She didn't want to eat dog food at all and I had to do my best to feed her a healthy food.
Dog food may be considered better because, compared with the home made food, it is easier to provide all the nutrients for your dog's diet. It is also easier to determine the proper food amount for your dog, so that he won't become fat.
Me I choosed to feed the dog that I have now with dog food, but I also give her home made food from time to time, and also raw food. She is a big eater and she would eat everything I give her. That's why I have to be cautious not to make her a fat dog.

you can make food for your dog.you can research for recipes.it is healthier and will save you more money.you can make hamburger patties for him/her.you can also make treats for him/her.knowing that your dog is healthy can put your mind at ease and save on emergency trips to the vet.

Human food is usually bad for dogs. It makes them fat and doesn't give them the nutrient that their body requires. Some human food can be toxic for dogs such as chocolate. Some human food isn't good for us and is certainly bad for them such as high calorie, high fat, sodium or sugar foods. I do give my dog a little square of Swiss cheese on occasion she goes nuts when she knows I am bringing it to her. There are some foods that can be used as treats like meat or cheese but only as treats and only on occasion. Don't make your dog fat. It radically shortens their lives and makes them sickly. Dogs should be thin but not bone-y.

All dogs we have will prefer our food to their dog food, sldo if your dog has eaten a large bowl of its own food it will still managed to eat our food as well.I have never owned a dog that did not like human food yet.My dog use to love a curry as well and they are really hot, so prehaps they are not that picky to what they eat.

Hi lokahiou (I don't know your name)
If you have the time to do it it is best to give your dog what is natural, meat and maybe rice, sweet potato, any vegetables but not onions. Give raw bones occasionally to keep his/her teeth clean, the best ones are beef bones but if you only have a small dog then lamb bones are good to chew on. Just remember what the dog would eat in the wild - not dog biscuits.

dog's require specific vitamins and mineral in there diet unless you get proper recipes for cooking your own food for your dog giving him only people food is not recommended. All dog's prefer people food there theres I often give my boys table scraps as a treat and rather then see the food go to waist but even doing this you have to careful to avoid anything with added salts and sugars as well as other spices. If you want something your dog will go for more try canned food this is actually healthier for your dog as the nutrients have not been fried out of it in the cooking process the only thing is you will have to brush their teeth more or give real bones to help clean them as the canned food sticks to their teeth more

If you are calling people food=normal food then it is better to feed your doggie the food made for dogs. He will not get the necessary vitamins and minerals to maintain his health by just eating people food. Dog food has the necessary ingredients for dogs which will not be in the people food. My vet has told me that is okay to give the dog occasional treats from the table but I don't do that because I don't want him begging for it all of the time when we are eating.

well as for my experience, i prefer giving my dog the normal food which is the food we ate and we share it to our dog. It's not the left over foods that we give our dog. what i mean is that what we eat for the day is also what he will be eating for that day. We share our foods with our dog because we treat him as a part of our family. Ans as for the dog foods you were saying, for me it's just a treat for our dog and an in between meal for him because i don't seem to see that he's contented if we only give him dog food.
