I personally love the different imaginative dynamics in fantasy books, and was wondering if anyone else on mylot felt the same. I really love the lord of the rings, the different drizzt do urden books, harry potter and more. How about you?

If written well, I enjoy fantasy books. I love dragon stories. There are so many of those on the market that there is no way that I can read them all. I have difficulty reading and myLotting. Have to choose either one or the other and myLot usually wins out. I've done less reading over the past month than ever.

I don't really consider myself a big fantasy fan I have read and enjoyed The Lord Of the rings and harry potter but don't really rate it as full on fantasy reading I find it too easy in terms of a fantasy novel. Do you have any other suggestions of fantasy books? As I've been determined to find good fantasy books just recently.

Yeah I really love the dark elf trilogy by R.A. Salvatore. Really long and in depth. There are about five thousand pages in about fifteen books on one character who is really awesome. Hes a warrior shuned from his murderous society to find peace in the world and within himself.

I love reading fantasy books particularly the Dragonlance books. Personally it's the most divertse fantasy universe and the storylines are great because the author themeselves are Role-playing gamers too.

I love both science fiction and fantasy - have you read the Anne McCaffrey Dragon books or the Mercedes Lackey books?

What are Mercedes Lackey books based on any recommendations? Any other fantasy authors you can suggest I need some fantasy novels to add to my book collection.

Fantasy is pretty much all I read! I will read other books of other genres but they never really capture my interest or ignite my imagination like fantasy. I really love the sub-genre "high-fantasy" that takes place almost entirely in a made-up second world. Some of my favorites of those classics are Lord of the Rings, Chronicles of Narnia, and The Last Unicorn by Peter S. Beagle. Some of my favorite fantasy authors who are still alive (lol) are Terry Brooks, Stephen Lawhead, and Bryan Davis.

I like fantasy on occasion - I would recommend The Mirror of her Dreams and A Man Rides Through by Stephen R. Donaldson. Its about a world where mirrors are doorways to other worlds - its more interesting than I probably just made it sound. Those are two seperate books - if you buy one, get the other. The first one ends on a cliffhanger. I would also recommend Jonathon Strange and Mr. Norrell by Susanna Clark. Some people call it the "adult Harry Potter" - I don't think that's a completely fair comparison but its not inaccurate. Its a world where magic was once real but for some reason it fell asleep. It gets a bit slow in the middle but if you keep going you're going to wish it hadn't ended so soon. That's two to start with. : )

I picked it up forever ago because the cover intrigued me and I came across it again while sorting my books. I set it aside because I still liked the cover, started to read it one dull day and found myself unable to put it down. I had stayed up half the night to finish it and when I got to the cliffhanger ending I could have thrown it across the room. But of course I bought the sequel.

Thanks for the recommendations! I'm going to check out that mirror of dreams. I remember my friend showing it to me one day and telling me it was a great read, and coming from her it means a lot. She used to read about eight hours a day in elementary and middle school. Went through all the fiction in the libraries.

I also love reading fantasy books or even short stories in that genre. They are good in taking the mind away from stressful thoughts and helps it to relax or get excited but in a good way due to the imagery presented in the books. I admire writers who can whip up great fantasy books! It shows how creative and imaginative the human mind can be.
