I like to collect rare things of any kind. I'm attracted to pens and key-rings. I have collected small rocks, old coins, key-rings from places I have visited. I am very fond of oil lamps. In the summer time I love to go to collect sea shells and rocks. It is good to have special things connected to memories. Good luck with your coin collection.

I have actually collected a couple of things over the years. I started collecting baseball cards when I was a kid, but they have gotten so expensive now that I do not collect them any more. They were $0.50-$2.00 per pack (depending on what brand you bought) when I was collecting them. However, they average about $5.00 per pack now I think, so I really do not see the value in them, because most of them are only worth a few cents each no matter how much you pay for them, although there are some that are more valuable than others. I bought a couple of boxes full of them a few months back at a yard sale, but the price was low enough that I figured they had to be enough of them in there to make them worth more than I paid for them, so I got them.
I have also collected a few coins over the years, but I don't have that many. I have never really studied coins or learned anything about them, so I really don't know what to look for to make them valuable, although this is something that I would really like to get started doing.
The thing that I spend most of my time collecting these days is shot glasses. I have some really cool looking ones, and I have a few from different areas. I guess they don't have any real value most of the time the way coins or baseball cards do, but they are cool thing to look at, and they are a good way to remember important things and they places you have been. They often have important messages or dates of important events printed on them. I have them displayed on bookshelves in my home office right now, and they look really cool.
Now that I have thought about the things I have collected over the years, I wonder what I will be collecting in the years to come? Maybe I will study coin collecting and start to do that again? I like the historical value that coins represent, so I may actually start collecting them again...

When i was in my high school days, i used to collect stamps from all over the world. I would have pen-pals from different parts of the world and during those days, when email is not yet discovered, we communicate thru letters. Those letters would have stamps because they were went thru mail. Thus, i am able to collect a lot.
But that stopped , when i get to College, where i was already focused in finishing my course, and with the emergence of email, it was completely stopped.

I collect weird coins, although I have nothing of value. It's just various coins from different countries that people give to me as they know I collect them, and some paper bills, I even have a coin that looks partially like a flower! :-p I know it's a real coin because it has Queen Elizabeth II on the back. I have one friend who's a taxi driver give me some weird coins that some of his foreign fares give him, kinda neat.
I think that's just about it, I don't collect anything else, really, I used to but recently gotten out of that habit, but I ain't never giving up my ice-cream bucket of weird coins, LOL

Your hobby is great. I have a collection of stamps, perfume bottles and dvds of my favorite movie. When I was a kid, me and my sister had a collection of rocks with fossils of shells and corals but we left them when we transferred to another place. Go ahead and good luck!

I collect foreign coins, too! I've found coins from the Bahamas mixed in with quarters I bought at the laundromat. A few weeks ago, my husband came home with a coin from Singapore that ended up in his cash drawer at work. I got a bunch of Euros and pounds from a friend of mine who went to Europe for a few weeks, and I have some Japanese coins I got after my friend went as an exchange student for a year. Around Christmastime, my mom let me pick out some of the coins her dad collected, and I got a set of commemorative proof coins from the Indian mint. She also gave me some interesting bills, including a Japanese-issued Philippine peso bill from World War 2.
I'm looking forward to adding some new coins to my collection, too. I want to buy a 2010 silver America the Beautiful quarter set for my daughter. She was born in 2010, and the set includes a coin for a national park in the state she was born in, too.

Yes I do have a habit of collecting. I collect the top up cards that i use to recharge my mobile. I have almost thousands of cards collected. I put this card in collection everytime after doing the recharge. I even get the recharge cards of my friends. I dont really know why i have a habit of collecting these recharge cards. I have been doing it for the past 5 years. In the begining i use to put the card in my draw after recharge. some time later i realized that i have them in large numbers. And it became a habit.

I do have many many pairs of footwear, also a hell of a lot of things like clothes, jackets and coats. Many things that i own are all still unused, they are still in there original packaging. I tend to go over the top when i see sales and i always buy. Luckily now i have calmed down but i still do collect loads of things which will be for future use. Other things that i also collects are electrical leads. Things that may be used with different kinds of electricals, they could be chargers, power leads, spare wire, anything, but i do have a load, but you never know when you may need something. I find it best always keeping hold of things as you don't want to throw things out then later in life regreet that you have to buy something you threw out years ago as you now need it.

I was into numismatics(collection of antique coins, currency notes, medallions),but not now,it required much investments and had to move around a lot, though i have a bit of a collection of antique coins and currency notes.Which i plan to sell of in the near future if i get a good price for it.
Collecting something and later on selling it off for gains, and hobbies are two different things.Though i believe everyone should have a hobby,it keeps us focused and there is a feeling of satisfaction.

When I was still in High School, I collect different kind of combs and bags. But now, I only collect letters, because of its sentimental value. Since we moved to a smaller home, we need to keep the clutter in a minimum, that's why. :)

Before having children I collected Kim Anderson anything. Figurines, pictures, anything with the black and white pictures and rose. Once I had my daughter I decorated her room in all of the things I had collected. Since then, she has damaged many of the things and of course she isn't near as interested in them as I was. The collection is lost now, but would love to get back into it.

I collect costume dolls from around the world. On my travels I have been able to collect lots because I have visited many countries. They sit on my shelf in a bookcase that has glass doors. Above that shelf are my travel photo albums. Every time that I get back from a trip I make a new album of my trip. I collect foreign coins and notes. The best in my collection are a three dollar note and a triangular coin from the Cook Islands. I have a small collection of crystals. I have them in my glass door display case and in two bowls in my bathroom.

When I was little, I collected stamps. But that is only temporary means previous letter is a popular communication tool so I often received letter from my relative or my friend then I will make the stamp as my collection. I do not hunt or buy a new stamps or rare one.
Now I starting collect coin or paper money of my country because my country less often change their currency.
