....You know the actual typing way in Keyboard is using all the fingers and every finger has allotted particular key sets.I have seen some people are typing so fast using their 10 fingers and i haven't practiced it yet.I use my right hand more to type. And am comfortable with that but i would like to improve my typing speed.I think practicing with all the fingers can improve the speed. How is your typing speed and way of typing?

This is very interesting. I actually do think I use all y fingers to type - not all at the same time or the same amount but I use my fingers to type and usually my thumbs do the space bar! :)

Hi friend, Sorry for being so late to reply you. I was not an active member of mylot when i started this discussion or my offline schedule was not permitting me to be here. So i couldn't reply to all of you. And its nice to know you are good in typing using all the fingers. And i suggest you to practice typing with all fingers and improve your accuracy and speed. Friend its the right way of pressing space bar, with two thumbs.

I have always been a fast typist. i do use all of my fingers to type. i think it makes me type q little quicker when i do. I just have to watch out for typos. unfortunately, i do not always catch them in time to fix them.

hi abhaijith I learned touch typing years back, wayh back, in high school. As long as I do not look at the keyboard I can type with few errors. I used to type forty words a minute but now at 85 I am slower and I do not care as I do not want a mess of errors on my posts. so if I am less speedy its okay for me. One of the beauties of being elderly you can do pretty much the way you want and who is to tell you different? [em]lol

Hatley I also learned back in high school on typewriters which had no letters on the keys. Like you I have lost speed in my "golden" years but I can do things the way I feel most comfortable.

Hi Hatley, nice to get your response. 40 words per minute is a good speed. And here in my place there is nothing about Typing in the high school syllabus. And the typing skill is one that should be practiced since the childhood days. And i think,it will be difficult for me to learn typing as i have been following another way since i started to type.. what you think?

Hey anhaijith, Yeah I use all my ten fingers I just don't place them down o hthe keyboard since I am using a iPad and I would press keys and type something funny haha. I do use all or almost all my finger to type .. As I type this I am watching the way I am typing and realize that I don't use my pinky at all hahaha.. weird.. If i do it's pretty rare haha. I guess because it might be rare lol.. I don't know how many words I type in a minute I have to take a test for that I will make sure i will post with.

So sorry to spoil the discussion with a little humor! Of course I know what the thumbs can be used for. However I do not use them all the time for this purpose.

I learned touch typing when I was in high school. I was never particularly fast (maybe 35-45 words per minute), but it just seems natural to do it now. The only time I don't use all ten fingers is if I am doing something else at the same time and I don't have both hands available. It is really an advantage if the letters are rubbed off the keys you are typing on if you don't have to look at the keys anyway. I found when I started online education that my typing improved naturally because I had to do so much of it. When I would be involved in chats, whether for school or pleasure, I had to type fast to keep up with my end of the conversation. Practice is the only way to improve your speed. Have a great day!

Hi friend, Most of the people here are using all the fingers to type and they have learned typing in the high school days. And i think, that way of typing should be practiced since the childhood days otherwise it will be hard. And the finger flexibility may not get as much. Anyway nice response from you friend.

I learned to type in high school on a manual typewriter but could only do 45 words per minute. That was considered minimum speed for office work. Our granddaughter could type 160 words per minute on the keyboard when she was in 8th grade.

45 words per min is not bad speed. As your office works require more speed hope you are improving by being active in Mylot. Wow,160words per minute. Thats a great thing in her age...

I can only type 45 words per minute and 50 as the max. But I only use my 8 fingers to type since I have problems using my left ring finger and little finger. I don't know why but I just rarely use these two fingers.

gaiza Regular typing is taught using all the fingers. The thumbs are used for pressing the space bar. all the ten fingers are used by us for typing in a regular typewriter and also computer.

It will be much faster to type using all the ten figures than just one hand. Now I am typing these words using both my hands and I think my speed is okay. We just need more practice to get the speed of typing improved. Come on, you will get a higher speed if getting used to using all the figures. And it will be more comfortable for your hands.

I don't use all 10 fingers to type. At least, I don't think I do. I'm thinking about it too much, so it feels weird Let's see, right now, I'm using both hands (as I usually do), and I'm using every finger except for my pinky and thumb on both hands. I just took a typing test a couple of days ago. My result was that I type at about 60 WPM.

I learned typing as you describe while in high school. I think there are computer programs available that you can use to learn this method. It is really quite easy to learn. I would think it would be difficult to learn all by yourself.

Hi abhijith, In the beginning I too was more dependent on my right hand fingers. But now I have a knack to use fingers from left hand too. Really, I too have seen people writing too fast. Actually they type without at the key board. I too am trying to type faster.

Hi friend, First of all Sorry for the big time gap in replying you. Yeah friend many of us have the tendancy to use one hand depends on whether they are right hander or left hander. But practicing with all the fingers is the best way to type faster and accurately. I hope you have improved your typing speed a lot by now.

no actually. I don't use all of my finger to type but i wish i did. You see back in school we had to use keyboard the proper way but i always cheated coz it was so difficult but now i wished i had done it the hard but proper way. My speed isn't bad though. i can type pretty fast.

I took a class in school which dealt mainly in typing, and they used a program called Mario Typing I believe that helped us practice typing without looking and using both hands. Today my speed is much faster than it's ever been thanks to that.

Hi friend, Thanks a lot for your valuable comment. Yeah i thing such typing classes should be provided in school days so that children can improve their typing skil gradually. In our area computer awareness is included in the smaller school levels itself but nothing about way of typing and all.
