I have a cat who is almost a year old and she has yet to have kitties.I am a cat lover and has been since i was a kid. I have never had the joy of seeing my cats have babies because then we mostly had male cats.I really want to experience having a litter of kittens which i can spoil. I want to get another cat but since i don't live alone,it's not possible.I want to own at least two cats because my cat gets lonely and need a play mate and i don't want her playing with strays for they have lots of fleas. Is my Twinkle too young to have babies? How old must a cat be to have little ones?

Too many people have cats/kittens for the wrong reasons which are selfish in my opinion. Wanting a cat to have kittens just so you can see babies being born is most irresponsible. If you want to see kittens being born, I'm sure the local animal shelter would oblige you. Thousands of animals are being euthanized daily because of irresponsible pet owners. I have previously adopted an additional pet so that my current pet would have the company and to give the new pet a good home. I had to be sure I was able to care for another pet and fulfill the obligation to keep its best interests in mind. The reasons to have cats/kittens would be for the benefit of the animals. There are thouosands of kittens available at the no-kill shelters ready and waiting to be adopting by caring and responsible persons. I think you should have your cat neutered and then go adopt a kitten for the benefit of BOTH animals. You can be a cat lover and still do the responsible thing.

Hey, i didnt say i want it to have kittens just so i can see the birthing. Its just part of the deal.I am saying it would be a good experience for me.I love my cat and if i have to get it neutered i will.I dont have it simply because i want it to have kittens.

I have had cats my whole life as well, However I never had a "girl" cat, so I not sure..anyway I think is better you wait a little bit more..let her complete two years..I think when they are one year old the like more to play and stuff...so give some more time to her. hahaha.. i love cats and i wish I could have one right now. anyway you are lucky even you cannot have 2 at least you have one right? good luck!

They can have kittens at 6 months, but it would actually be better if you adopted another cat than to have your cat have kittens. If you fix your girl and adopt another cat, then you have saved your cats life and another cat, but if she has kittens, it can endanger her and endanger the lives of the other kittens she has that you have to find new homes for.

That's a good idea i will have to remember to bring this up.I wouldn't want anything to happen to mt girl. She is so sweet and funny.I will see about adopting one. This makes my case better now that you've pointed out the danger of she having kittens. Thanks Elic

I do not know how old they have to be. I know my male was very interested in the reproduction process when he was under a year old w/ a kitten w/ thought was a male and was actually a female (cat was sexed wrong). But if you are not allowed to have more than one cat why would you want your cat to become pregnant? Plus eventually you will have to find homes for all those kittens as you cannot keep them all.

If she makes babies then i get to keep one or two but i am not allowed to get it from friends.Thats the difference.I have made it clear that i may look for my own place so i could keep my kittens and maybe get two puppies also. I am hoping they will form my family in the future. At least my daughter get to take care of something and she doesn't ask for a baby.

No she is not too young to have baby. Cat can have baby after 6 months and you said she is almost one year. So she will not face any problem to have baby. So good luck friend!

Are you sure it is a female? You had better have it checked out. Cats come into heat as early as 3 months.

Hi dear you seem to be someone who loves animals like this Vegan here, why don't adopting a stray cause there are so many suffering cold and hunger out there? I adopted 4 stray, they are like brother and sisters, of course I sprayed the male one cause there's only one and they are like kids to me. I would of course love to see a birth but as not many people adopt animals I decided to not let them have but keep adopting to save most I can that are already born.

she is not to young most stray cats have kittens when they are 8 months old i do not recommend you breed her unless you plan on keep ALL of teh kittens yourself and there could be up to 8 kittens in the litter. 1000 of cats are put to sleep every day because there are WAY to many in the world from people doing exactly what you are thinking of doing you are just going to be adding to the problem plus once a cat has kittens she is at risk to MANY health concerns I would recommend you get you cat fixed so she lives a longer and healthier life if you want another cat for her go to your local shelter and adopt a young kitten
