Most of the time, I received calls from unknown numbers. I usually turn these calls down. I am not expecting any call from other people and they know that I prefer texting and being texted than being called. I also know that if the person calling has some important message to tell, he/she may simply text it. How about you? What will you do if you receive unexpected calls from unknown numbers.?

I get quite a few phone calls from unknown numbers. When i see this on my caller ID, I just let the answering machine take the call instead. Most of the time it ends up in a hang up with no message.

I usually do nothing and just ignore calls like this. However, there was one time that I called the caller back. This person had called my number by accident and left a message inquiring about a house for rent. They had no idea that they had called the wrong number. I didn't want them to be left hanging, so I called them back and let them know they had called my number by mistake. They were very grateful I called them back and thanked me for letting them know.
Happy mylotting!

If it was a call, I would just ignore the call or press end then send a message asking the person who he/she was. If it was someone I knew, they would of course follow up by messaging or calling again. If it was just someone who doesnt have anything to do and trying to have callmates or something, they would usually just stop calling after the second attempt.
But of course, there are times when my reflex is to just answer the call thinking that it could be an emergency or something since I too dont get that much phone calls.

Since I am expecting a call form unknown numbers especially when it comes t job opportunity, I usually take these unknown calls. I have doubts answering them but I don't have a choice since I need to find a better job opportunity than the one I have now. Most of these unknown numbers I receive fortunately are from companies I have sent my applications with. I also don't like taking unknown calls, but since I am the one in need and since I don't have the numbers of these companies, I really have to take these unknown calls that I am getting.

Yes, I do receive calls from unnown callers and numbers and used to get them quite a lot. They were usually people trying to sell me something I don't want. I have now got registered with TPS - (telephone preference service) that will stop all sales calls and it has helped a lot. Companies pay money to make calls and even they don't want to wasste calls on people who don't want to buy anything, and I never buy anything at unless I have made the call myself. _Derek

I have a lot of friends who have caller ID block on their phones. I hate it, but what can I do? I have a small business and receive calls from many unknowns, so I must always answer my phone.

It is free for me to answer the phone, so most of the time I will answer the phone which do not show the name. Also some calls from foreign countries cannot be figured out, so I also will answer it.

I should be very happy to receive unknown incoming calls because most of them are giving me opportunities.
For me, I distribute my cell phone number to everyone to make it popular.
ha! ha! ha!
The intention of doing so is just for getting new business.
If I just ignore the unknown incoming calls, am I missing the business opportunities?
I hope you will change the way you manage your unknown incoming calls too.
The only thing I must keep in mind that I shall not disclose my personal particulars to any strangers easily.

as for the texting and calls I must say I'm pretty much the same. I don't like it very much talking on the phone, so texts are ok for me unless it's really importnat and people have to call. yes I get a few unknown numbers calls from time to time...usually I or someone in my family will answer, but most of the time are just some peoplefooling around and making strange noises or making things up and stuff like that. tho I never know who it is, but sometimes I assume it could be some friends when they're drunk and they find fun in making prank calls -.- tho a few weeks ago I got an unknown number call after a long time again and it was at 2 in the morning. Luckily my family and I were still awake, so mom grabbed the phone and answered it just to hear some jerk make up some things and then they called 2 times more and I really got mad and yelled at them if they ever call again I'm gonna call on the support service and get their number disconected. I guess this did the trick as they though I may have seen their number, or they just chickened out. However I was glad they didn't call again. always hate such calls.

I am the same as you, I will not answer a call from an unknown number, I always suspect it to be one of those scams where they offer a holiday or something if you give them your details. If it is important the person will call the house phone or leave a message or text. My husband hates leaving the phone ringing though and will answer it for me if I ask him.

I usually answer the call to see who it is, because sometimes people call you from a different phone number. If it is a wrong number I tell them,is it is somebody that I am not interested in talking( like trying to sell something,or do a survey that I am not interested),I have no problem telling them so.If it shows "unknown name,Unknown name",I answer because big places with switchboard(like hospitals) show that when they call.

Well when I get a call like that is either I ignored it or just let my phone ring and not worry b
About the call. If they really have something to tell me they will leave a voicemail. But there times that they just wont stop calling me so I have no choice but to turn off my phone :) I hate them unknown call they get annoying.

I don't answer any phone calls unless I recognize that it is from family or a friend. Otherwise, they all go to voicemail. I do not text. I see no sense in paying $0.20 to read what I can hear. On a side note, I also do not like to see people type discussions and responses in text-speak. I think it is lazy and totally inappropriate. Thank you for starting your discussion in a clear and consise manner.

Yeah I have and most of the time it's telemarketers or people who are just caling the wrong number I don't get mad at the people who accidently got the wrong number, but I don't like telemarketers to much. Yeah it's their job, but sometimes I am not in the mood to be tricked into a scam because I am not going to fall for those, but yeah just say wrong number or if it's a telemarkter you say not interested simple as that it's what I do.

Yes I did, I try to accept the call. Most of the time, they have dialed the wrong number. If it was a missed call, I just don't mind at all. If it is really important they could have just leave a text message for me to call or contact them again.

yes, a lot.I am looking for job now,so it's common to me. But sometimes I received calls from others cities, and this kind of call hang up very quickly. So when you receive this kind of call, never call back.If some one really want to call you,he/she will call you again.

i usually answer calls from unknown number i felt like it was always important cause calls can communicate better than texting, emergency can't wait for you to reply, most emergency situation is made by calling, but when i answer my phone and the caller was unknown to me or doesn't have anything important to say i usually turn the call off. but in case of emergency situation i answer phone calls from unknown number....

I think in most case i would receive calls. I don't care about who calls. Because i think there maybe some emergences or some other important things. I've no idea about the call until i receive it. In addition, i prefer calling phone to texting message. I think typing is too troubled and time-consuming but calling phone is very convenient and calling phone can transfer more message than typing message.
