I think I prefer pancakes. I eat them both with just butter and syrup on them.

For the most part, I agree with you. Something I'd forgotten about that just came to me when I read your answer is my stepfather started us eating waffles topped with ice cream and waffles. We used to have that for dinner every once in a while and boy, was it good!

with lots of syrup - no butter, i don't like butter

that's a hard one, i like them both. but i will have to say pancakes, they are easier to make.

I'd never heard of chocolate on pancakes or waffles and you're the second person who has given it as an answer. Maybe I'm missing something... I've never tried Nutella but have heard about it.
