Do you buy products depending on the model or celebrity who is endorsing it?

when i watch tv and the commercials, it seem that for every product in the supermarket, it is being endorsed by celebrities or famous models. From clothes, to bags, to shoes, to beauty products, to cologne or perfume, and even to house appliances! do you think that having celebrities as endorsers really add a factor when people buy things? Do you consider this factor yourself when you are choosing what to buy in supermarkets or department stores?
i would admit that sometimes it has the effect on me. if i see something i like but i dont like the endorser, then i wouldnt buy it.. talk about how marketing affects the mind..

For me it solely depends on the product. I wouldn't care if I don't like the endorser. I only care if the product produces good results. Yeah, marketing geniuses use famous celebrities because they know these celebrities are being idolized by many people, therefore, rendering them edge over competing companies. If these people see their idols endorsing a product, they'll think that their idols are also using it so they'll also buy it. It's a smart move, indeed.

No, I don't buy products just because they are endorsed by a person who through lucky breaks and talents happen to become famous or rich, unless that is, they are useful for me. I think I probably did in my teen years, but today I find that I was a bit crazy in my youth as I wore shoes for instance, that damaged my feet and clothes that I didn't feel very comfortable in. So I have long since quit following this mode of fashion. _Derek

i also experienced this when i was in my teens.. if i really like the endorser or the model of a certain product, i would tend to buy it if i dont have a particular brand on mind. although, if the product is not suitable for me, then i wont it anymore the next time.. i guess i have matured also over the years so commercials do not have that strong an influence on me now.

I don't really care who endorses the product. I do watch TV and see famous celebrities endorsing products and all those things, but it doesn't really matter that much to me. I do buy products that suits me. And buy products that I have good experience with and products that has a good quality.

Oh yes, you can see celebrities staring at you from everywhere for every conceivable product. However, I don’t go by the glamour they add coz I know that they don’t endorse the products after using them personally, so their endorsement cannot be taken on the face value. Most products I use are there since my childhood so I’ve kind of got used to them by now. Secondly, even if I do try out new products, then it has to be a small pack so that if it doesn’t work for me, there’s not much wastage. Thirdly, if I feel that a new product has come into the market which is suitable for my age or skin or from a good herbal company that I trust, I’ll use it to see its efficacy.

if i feel that products fit my needs and i fell good in it, there i go buy it.
but it is that celebrity sometime affect us in buying products cause they have strength and power that we don't realize.

No. I usually don't follow trends unless I happen to like them personally. I admit I will give things my favorite bands like a second glance but they only thing I have ever bought that they endorsed was TOMS shoes. The fact that I can buy a pair of shoes and a kid who doesn't have any will get a pair too...that appealed to me and I now have multiple pair. I am glad to be a part of that movement but if my favorite actress endorsed a certain kind of makeup...unless its what I already use I wouldnt care less. She does, actually. She is with Avon...I use Covergirl. LOL

I am not easily influenced my celebrities or anything like that. What motivates me to buy something has nothing to do with who endorses it, its all in what I like or don't like. Its hard for me to actually believe that let say since Kim kardashian is endorsing sketchers a ton of people will go get sketchers shape up just because of her! Thats gullible to me, and i've never been he gullible type. The only reason why I plan on getting sketchers shape up is because its beneficial for me and since I do a lot of walking at work, it has nothing to do with Kim K. Even though I really do like her style, but she or anybody else has no influence on me buying anything.

They wouldn't be chosen as endorsers if they don't contribute to the rocketing sales of those products. In fact before a company chooses someone to endorse their products, especially celebrities, they have to conduct a background check on the celebrity to see how well he or she would carry their product and whether they can increase the sales in a short time.
In my case if the product already has a name because of its quality, i don't care much if the endorsers are famous or not. But if the product or brand name is quite new, i try to look into the fact of it's quality or effectiveness. There are endorsers who endorse only for money but there are those who really use the product and test them out so that they won't lose their credibility too.

No, I hear feedback on products to try it myself. I also look for cheaper brand to try because there are cheaper brands that perform good.

I don't let celebrities influence my decision to buy something. they are getting paid for the things they say to get you to buy the product. it doesn't mean they believe in it themselves. I buy products based on how i feel about them myself.

I don't. When I buy a something I don't really care who endorse it. I'm not really affected whether the product is endorsed by my favorite celebrity or not. Often, I buy products that are less expensive yet very durable. Moreover, in terms of bags, shoes, clothes, etc. I always go by my preferences. I guess, using celebrities to market products doesn't really affect me at all.

In some products, it is effective, specially on new products where only few hasn't tried it. When they see that a respected and known person uses it, they will also try it. But for me, it's not effective since I buy things that looks good in me. It doesn't matter if it was endorsed or not by a known personality.

hmmmm nope, not at all. to me it doesn't really matter who endorses what. it doesn't really have any effect on me. i look at the product, and focus on them.
for example, on beauty products. i know that a lot of famous Hollywood stars or models endorse Maybelline, or Revlon or Victoria's Secret. but i still prefer Clinique, because of the contents, like it is very safe for the skin and mild.

Okay, the pig is hilarious. I purchase my products by what I like and cost. The fact that a celebrity endorses a product does not influence me at all. I try different products because they may be on sale. If I don't like it, I will go back to my old standby. Best Wishes!
