You should go online and choose destinations for sure. I have been there twice and was there for 4 days easch time. I still never got to see and do everything I wanted to...lol.
There are a ton of great places to stay. The first time I stayed at the Imperial Palace and the second time, I stayed at Harrah's. The great thing about it is no matter where you stay, you can go in any of the casinos and enjoy their scenary and bars. I think the Mirage was really neat. They had a "jungle bar" that was amazing and a dolphin show too. Ceasar's Palace was amzing too. There is always something going on there..all night. If you get to walk through the Venitian..do that too.
To be honest..it is all amazing..water show at the Belagio and at Treasure Island there is a show on a pirate ship outside.
You will have a great time. Walking is much faster than driving too..lol.

I agree with Jen. There are tons of places to stay. Depends on your budget but you can get some good deals online. We stayed at the Tropicana 1st time. Pretty good. Then next time we stayed at the Tuscany. It was off the strip past the Flamingo. Although a 15 minute walk back to the strip, the room was amazing! It was massive and with it's own kitchen and extra large bathroom. Last trip we stayed at Ballys. Well located and really nice, although the walls were a bit thin we thought.
Everything is amazing, as Jen said and you can eat at so many buffets and cheap too. We had a buffet breakfast so large, we didn't need to eat again until dinner!
If you want a luxurious restaurant, try the Paris Eiffel tower restaurant. BEst if you book though. Fantastic food and service. Also the Stratosphere revolving restaurant. Just loved that.
Don't make the mistake of thinking 'Oh we can walk to that hotel down the strip, it looks near.' They are not as near as you think and you can walk for miles without realising it.
We are going to Florida from the UK next week and might take in another trip to Vegas, we love it so much.
Enjoy your trip, I know you will and need any advice, be pleased to help :-)
Regards
Robin

Choose any hotel within your budget but have the Fremont Street experience without which travel in Las Vegas is incomplete http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fremont_Street_Experience

I took a US package holiday and we were booked at Hotel Luxor - which has the Egyptian Theme where casinos dot the place.

Lucky you. You're going to have a great time. I have never been to Las Vegas but I know people who have and they loved it there. I hear the buffets are wonderful there too. I would check some forums online to find out the best places. Check with Tripadvisor.com also. I get a lot of help from that travel website.
