I was wondering if they can take such without calling for Jihad or violent protests? I will like to know your views....and please lets be tolerant with our comment and yet drive home our point. Thanks http://news.smh.com.au/breaking-news-national/bishop-calls-islamic-billboards-offensive-20110530-1fcc3.html

I have been into interfaith dialogue before and I found out the Jesus is a prophet in the Islam Faith's Qur'an.. So basically they can take it. Jesus is also a character in the Qur'an. I believe so. And maybe some of our muslim brothers here, could help us out. I have never read a Qur'an because they said it's sacred, so basically I just ask them out if I want to know something about their faith.

Actually it does talk about Jesus in the Qu'ran. However Muslim people will never accept that Jesus was any sort of prophet because they hate him or anything to do with any other religion that is not Muslim. I will probably get a load of abuse for saying this because everything is construed as bad if it isn't what the Muslim person believes.

You are right...anything that is not in their line is either abuse or insult. You have a right to say your own.

Mickie30, it seems that you misuderstand Islam and Muslims. I'm Muslim and I love Jesus Christ so much, there is no Muslim in the world who doesn't accept that Jesus was a sinless prophet and a messenger of God, and one of the greatest five messengers. We believe in his miraculous birth, his Gospel, his miracles, his ascension, and that he will return back before the Last Day, and that he is the Christ (Masih in Arabic - Messiah in Hebrew), and we believe that his mother was the greatest women to live on eath.. no Muslim is a Muslim if he or she doesn't believe in these, and all of the 1.5 Billion Muslims do proudly believe. I don't know from where did you get that Muslims hate Jesus, but you are totally wrong sister, we love and honor him so much. We never speak about him in a bad way, and we don't tell jokes about him - as done by many Christians nowadays, and aslo, we don't allow drawing him nor playing his role on movies.. he surely deserves this honor and respect. Also, sister, it is not true what you mentioned that Muslims hate anything to do with any other religion that is not Muslim, we don't believe that everthing is construed as bad if it isn't what we believe - as you mentioned. We respect everyone, and diagreeing with people doesn't mean that we hate or that we should insult or speak with them in a bad manner, and God tells us in the Qur'an: "Argue with them in ways that are best and most gracious." (16:125). May God guide all of us.

Jesus is Isa Al-masih in the Quran, and Muslims known Him as a prophet.

Jesus is the Son of God in the Bible and the Christian don't see Him as servant..but as God! So why use their less understanding of who Jesus to claim what He is not?

Well the Muslims have long been considering Jesus as just a prophet. They could believe what they want to believe but that will not change the truth that Jesus is the Son of God. He is the Messiah, the Holy One. I need not go to the road to protest against the Islam's belief about my Lord because I know that one day soon, the truth will be revealed and those who are rejecting the deity of Christ will suffer shame and judgment.

Im a christian but i think that bishop was talking out of his backside. The billboards were not offensive they were just trying to promote peace by saying that both religions arent that different and that instead of blowing each other up because of our religions we should have a peaceful interfaith discussion instead.

Thats good peace can be promoted by using words that is positive to their religion and maybe not so positive to other peoples religion...I think thats I win, you lose peaceful interfaith discussion.

These things happen because they approach other religions from the perspective of us-them dichotomy. If peace what religions strive after, the most important thing that ought to be learnt is to respect the faith sentiments of other religious groups. As long as that does not happen this narrow parochialism and vandalism will be norm.

Respect- Sure. I think its not right to write and force down the throat of others what your religious book said or depict about the champion of other people believe. In Islams Quran that was written and beleived by Muslims but in the Bible Jesus is called the Son of God and revered to as such by the Christians which they did not believe. Can someone put up a billboard and say - 'Muhammed is a prophet who knew not the way, Jesus said I am the way the Truth and the life' (both are in the Bible and Quoran) can they take such even mild connotation peacefully without calling it blasphemous?
