Do you like to cook just for you?

I don´t. Even if I live alone, I love to have people for lunch or diner as then I can start imagining what I´ll give them to eat that they will like. But when I´m alone, I grab leftovers or make sandwichs. Today I promise I´m going to make a nice green salad for me. I was going to recive guests, but they couldn´t come. So I feel left out, even if it´s not their fault.
Do you make nice things to eat when noone is around or you do as I do (get a cup of coffee and some bread and come to the computer for company?) Share!

Hi marguicha. I have to cook everyday from scratch three times. No leftovers for my husband, he is a very fussy eater. But when my husband was in another city for almost seven months last year, I hardly cooked anything. My daughter will not have side dishes, so it was only rice and gravy for her when she goes to school. She did not like anything else and even if I took the pains and prepared something else, she would not bother to even touch it! And I would eat at my parents' place most of the time. Cooking only for myself is such a bore, really. But now, I have to cook for my husband and have to be conscious of what ingredients I use because of his diabetes.

My husband had diabetes for many years, so I know what that is. I decided not to buy some things that he should not eat, specially what he would crave for if he saw. Legumes are a lot better than rice, potatoes or pasta for diabetic people. as carbohidrates go. Fortunatly my husband loved beans and lentils and the only thing was that he had to accept that he could only eat small portions.

I love to cook but I find a lot nicer to have someone over to applaud my cooking.

I get recipe/cooking newsletters and am always trying out new (to me) recipes. Of course, I have to scale them down for one or two persons as I often share with the neighbor. Occasionally, when I'm feeling too bad, I don't want to cook so then I just do without or see what is in the leftover portion of the 'fridge. I can't type and eat at the same time, so I'll open a book and read or check out what's on the tv. But for the most part, I cook.

Yeah, I check it out occasionally. It's not one of my regulars though. There are so many of these cooking/recipe sites that I don't think I could hit 'em all in one day so I've just settled on a few. Taste of Home has a good one and I already get that magazine. I also have a Cooking Club of America membership and they send out a magazine. That's about all I can handle. I love to browse and look at the photos and I actually do make many of the recipes.

Some times I like to cook but I am like you when I am alone I just stick to a sandwich or something that is quick to make, Yes I get a cup of coffee first thing in the morning and turn on the computer and the other day I did make myself some French Toast but it was quick and easy oh boy now I am hungry! L.O.L. But I don't feel like cooking at all today!!

Hiya margi,
Improvise is my middle name (grin). However I usually plan meals otherwise I can find myself going overboard with what I have to spend for Food. So there are a lot of limits on what I can put and what I would really want to put as well.
I like making my own Soup even if I am on my own and a Salad and trying to avoid Bread a little bit more than before.
Would love to go to Dinner at your place margi I would never know what I am going to eat.xxx
See you chiki take care.xxx

Hiya margi,
Right now I have put on some Lentils to cook at the moment to go in them is jut ordinary vegetables.
Have not thought of anything else yet. Will be thinking about that in a while.
Rice once they have eaten it in one Day they will not go back to eating it a second time in a Day or the next so I sometimes keep it and put it into Chick Peas with vegetables but with some different taste.
Still sounds fun to go to your House and not knowing whats for Dinner because that way your Guests will be even more hungry I would say anyway.xxx

O yea, I now live alone and I cook for myself and I like it. Simply because you do not think of other people and what might please them and so forth, I have a lot of freedom and I cook whatever I like and eat at my owm pace and strenght.

I'll usually just make myself something really simple if it is just me. A salad or just heat up leftovers, that kind of thing.

I don´t like to eat the same meal I had the day before so I do something else with leftovers. But sandwichs are something easy and salads too.

I don't like cooking for myself. I get lazy or suddenly am too busy to cook when I'm eating alone. By myself, I can eat anything available like leftover food or noodles, or bread. Cooking for family or friends makes cooking enjoyable and exciting.

That´s exactly what happenss to m. I love to cook for company, butfind boring to do much cooking for myself. I am trying to cnter my boredom into eating easy to make green salads so that I can shed the pounds that have made my life miserable these last 3 years.

I usually if going to be online will have my breakfast first before coming to the PC. Generally I like fast items if it is just me because my cooking means lots of leftovers. But breakfast I can do quick cereal and toast and or have been known to make pancakes, from scratch and bacon. I need the additional carbs and energy to start my day. lol

No, not really. I mean, I still cook for myself only sometimes, but most of the time, I just get something small when I am alone. Cooking is much more fun if you do it for several people, it's as simple as that!

That´s what I think! Yesterday I had two friends for lunch. We were celebrating one of my friends´ last book. I made an awesome rissotto good for one of them who will only eat sea food as she´s half vegetarian and the other is diabetic so he had to have small portions. But today, alone, I only ate leftovers, drank coffee and although I should not be hundry, I´m hungry for something good to eat.

Tonight I´m waiting for a phone call. I might have a couple of friends over, but they havn´t answered yet. If they don´t come, it´s coffee and a cheese sandwich for me. If they come, I´ll make a special diner.

I live with other people so we usually cook some good dish. When I'm alone I usually prepare something more fast to cook but in any case I make a lot of food cause I'm always hungry. Only a sandwich it's not sufficient to me.

I've been living away from my family running 4 years now. And currently I am living with a co-worker who travel oftentimes-nature of work. Thus I am often left alone at home. I don't mind cooking for myself-I got absolute freedom on what dish to cook.
At the past though, like you I don't like to cook for myself..or for anyone for that matter!

Yes, I love cooking for me only. Those are the times I commonly try to create new recipes, foods that I have never cooked, or try out new ideas that have come in my mind. After all, it is quite normal that I will experiment with foods that probably will not even be edible, when noone else than me will be around to taste them.Hahaha.

I always want to eat food that I like, when there is no whoever, at home. Because, I can not enjoy the food that I like, if there is a husband, or anyone at home, because I have to follow their tastes. So when I'm alone, I often cook meals that I like for myself.

To be honest, I love to eat different things. But I hate to cook. If I am alone as I usually am, I hate to cook even more. Unfortunately, my working hours are so odd, that I cannot keep a cook. Moreover, I like food so much that I would hate someone cook food for me, becuase I may not like it. This is an unusual situtation. But I can't help it.
